  1. Cool. Watchout for mosquitoes, they are not comfortable. Hmm, could that be an Arocs in the wild outdoors for Canada Day?
  2. Like one of these? Propeller Rail Car by dr_spock_888, on Flickr
  3. You didn't mention your location, but if you live in an area with a LEGO Brand retail store, Pick A Brick wall is a good way to accumulate various tiles and plates without a lot of other pieces you don't need or have to sell off. It would be the cheapest per new piece route. It could be time consuming if you want to pack as many as possible into a the PAB Cup.
  4. That can be very annoying when you're trying to study their MOC and think that your eyes have gone wonky. I think distance of camera from subject and distance of subject from background and aperture all play a role. Now if I can only figure how to get it right...
  5. Day 179 of 365: Swatted by dr_spock_888, on Flickr Jar-Jar seems have a way of getting into places where he is not wanted. Stormie could just be playing hide and seek with Vader's kids.
  6. Good question. A search on Bricklink turned up: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemInv.asp?S=79110-1 Silver Mine Shootout.
  7. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=105739 Not sure.
  8. Excellent. I got questioned about LEGO at the border when returning from Brickworld. At least the LEGO MOCs substantiated my story that I was at a LEGO fan convention in Chicago.
  9. Thanks for bumping this. I need to make a email agent on a schedule.
  10. Radio triggers are nice if you have a flash hotshoe on your camera to mount the trigger. I was using Cactus triggers and Vivitar 2800 flash for an inexpensive off camera solution last year. I stopped since it is a bit too much work to setup for shooting daily minifig vignettes that aren't bigger than a 16x16 base plate. Straight out camera shot. Handheld. Model on sofa with white boards under and behind. Flash off camera on coffee table behind and to the side of me and bounced off the low basement white ceiling. Manual 1/60, F8.0. I think it was ISO 800. 8854 Power Crane by dr_spock_888, on Flickr P&S camera JPEGs tend to be more contrasty by default. The standard JPEG setting (Picture Style on Canon) tends to be more muted. Yes, I used autofocus on both shots. I used to manual focus fast action shots back in the film SLR days but my eyes aren't good any more. First one was with a Canon PowerShot A590IS, second one was with a Canon 7D w/60mm EF-S macro lens. That is a good tip. I use the timer all the time now even though I have a IR remote trigger somewhere lost in my camera bag.
  11. crossed
  12. The Alco PA has a C-C configuration (6 wheels per truck). It could be done with PF train motor but wheel spacing would be too close if the builder wants to keep prototype proportions. The PF motor choices are M-motor, L-motor and XL motor depending on the scale of your engine and how much do you plan to pull. M is good for tight spaces. L has more torque than M. XL is the hulk.
  13. I'm at war with myself. I MOC and collect. Will there ever be peace?
  14. Nice. It could be a good engine to pull the 7710 Push Train from the 1980.
  15. I think I might be missing a green guy.
  16. Day 178 of 365: Shower for Two by dr_spock_888, on Flickr
  17. Congrats. Any trouble importing the cups back into the country?
  18. Welcome to Eurobricks. Those are some nice MOCs.
  19. The back of a large laminated poster can also work as a reflective surface. The plus is it can be rolled up and put away. A tripod would certainly allow you to use a lower ISO and shutterspeed for static models. I use aperture mode with the lowest ISO and tripod, let the camera figure out the shutterspeed. Then use EV +/- to adjust the exposure for the next shot. Thanks. I did do a comparision with the same scene but it wasn't Technic.
  20. Nice. It might be a dead end for one of them.
  21. You could tile over the power plate before putting on your normal base plate if you don't want studs touching your normal base plate. The electromagnetic field will go right through the plastic.
