[MOC] Hey, no cutting in line!
dr_spock replied to PaddyBricksplitter's topic in Special LEGO Themes
LOL. Very good. I like the smooth curviness of your cloud. Don't line cutters go the other direction? -
Neat idea. Is this what you use? 55 or 115 cm? http://www.ikea.com/ca/en/catalog/products/30152596/

Qualifications vary from LUG to LUG. Our requirements are published in our by-laws. Are these active LUGs you're applying to? Check out their website (or Facebook page), if they have meetings or events scheduled soon, try showing up in person.

Have you taken a look at the set building instructions for the red cargo train and heavy haul train for ideas? http://brickset.com/sets/3677-1/Red-Cargo-Train http://brickset.com/sets/60098-1/Heavy-Haul-Train

I studied engineering and ended up years later being a financial application owner. Writing test cases for tax law changes was not as dirty as testing concrete samples.

I hope you get a chance to photograph it with the original Maersk for comparison. I'd be curious to see. How much did you have to spend on medium azure pieces?

Front winch for 8289?
dr_spock replied to Richard Dower's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Not sure which country you're in. Here fire trucks do not come standard with a front winch. They have have additional hose connection point and storage on the front. -
Not that big as in comparison to other themes in North America. I don't have access to LEGO internal sales number by theme and country but you can get a feel of where Technic is relative to other themes just by attending any North American AFOL conventions. Or look at your LUG and survey what percentage of members are Technic gearheads. Granted that's looking more at TFOL and AFOL popularity of the theme and may not reflect of the parents/relatives/friends buying Technic for children. I think you can hang around a Kmart or Target to see what themes fly off the shelves and what stay put, assuming you don't get kicked out for loitering.

Buy 42009 as it is an older set and would be retired before 42043 does. Save up to buy 42043 later. Here's the 42009 review on EB: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=85129 You'll have to do your own comparison...

Retail Points Maintenance? No Heavy Haul Train in Canada yet. That's assuming Canada hasn't vetoed that set for sale here. LEGO is an international company and each country can make the descision whether to market a set locally or not. Most of the time they do not say no but it does happen like 8258 wasn't sold in Canada.

[Help] Reusable Sticker Sheet
dr_spock replied to Block_Smarts Lego Technic's topic in General LEGO Discussion
If you have or made the graphics for the stickers, you can have your local print shop make them. -
