  1. A big thanks to Jason who took notice and contacted me for this to potentially become a product at their store. When redesigning it I had to make it stable and strong enough as well as making it aerodynamic, the original design was too blocky. I'm quite confident that is is the best outcome for a mini Milano spaceship design. I hope you enjoy it too. I really hope you enjoyed this MOC and plan to purchase one; feedback and criticism is much appreciated. Available to purchase at: TheBrickShowShop.com Adeel
  2. Firstly I’d like to mention the biggest controversy with this set. It had been delayed for about two weeks here in the UK due to a production problem. The friction between the Technic pieces and the legs of the ant model were very loose. The updated sets have extra ‘2M Cross Axle W. Groove’ and ‘Nose Cone Small 1X1’ for each leg to make them more stable and it’s a successful change. I did try and use it without those two addition pieces (how it was originally produced) and they were not strong enough to hold the model with a little pressure on it, it would just want to get squashed. Nothing else was changed besides the instructions; the boxes are the same, without any changes, It’s hardly noticeable. I’m not sure if this is the same case for the U.S. as they have been available there since the June 1st release date. I’m not sure it they would go up in value or not. The Brick Fan has a picture of the two different instructions manuals for anyone who is still curious: http://www.thebrickf...tle-76039-issue When I first heard that that a set would be produced based on Marvel’s Ant-Man film I was shocked like many others because LEGO only releases sets based on one Marvel movie per year as shown in recent years ever since the ‘Super Heroes theme has been around . I hope that this trend continues in the future. So next year we would have an entire wave based on ‘Captain America: Civil War’ and at least one set based on ‘Doctor Strange’ around the same price as this set. It is a shame that LEGO never produced more sets based on the ‘Ant-Man’ movie, it has much more potential but I guess it could have got overloaded like the ‘Avengers: Age Of Ultron’ sets. Packaging Once again we have the Marvel Super Heroes banner across the top of the box which has the Ant-Man picture on the top right hand corner. The artwork showing the set is great as Ant-Man comes to the rescue to stop Yellow Jacket throwing screws and LEGO bricks across the floor or table. I would just like to point out that if this is indeed the final battle in a kid’s bedroom as the trailer suggests, then why on earth are there loose screws? Sometimes designers could have poetic licence so that may be the reason why. The bottom right has the movie logo as well as showing you the Minifigures included in the set. The new addition of the super jumper graphic makes it seem like only two Minifigures are included and they are showing you the ant-man Minifigure again as an example since the Ant-Man and Hank Pym figures are very similar in design. Minifigures This set contains three exclusive Minifigures: Ant-Man, Yellow Jacket and Hank Pym. The Ant-Man (Scott Lang) Minifigure’s printing is spot on in comparison to the movie however it could have easily had arm printing. The main problem I have is the helmet, in the movie it’s completely covered hoover in this set it looks like they when between the comics and the movie with the mouth opening. I personally think it could have been how early LEGO designs these sets. Not many people know that the studios send them early concept art which is why some scenes that sets depict which don’t appear in the final cut of the movies because changes were made in the production of the movie. These toy and product designs are done way before the movie is even filmed. Another problem with this set is the reuse of existing Minifigure heads in this case its Ezra Bridger’s head from Star Wars: Rebels. The printing on Yellow Jacket (Darren Cross) again is spot on besides not having arm printing. Its problem lies with the dark silver colour chosen, in the movie its black. This time LEGO has decided to reuse typical bad guy head which has also been used in many other sets, it suits him so I cannot complain. His mechanical harness is my biggest problem, it’s great for kids with the ability to move them and to shoot the studs, for collectors and perfectionist like me I would have recommended that they should have used ‘Leg W Ø3.2 Shaft 1/2 M’ in Black with yellow printing on it. I’m currently trying to figure out the design of my own. The harness itself is really bulky and it’s annoying that they used a tan piece which does not fit will with the contemporary design of the figure. Finally the most controversial figure: Hank Pym. This Minifigure is the most basic of the three with minimal printing since he was the original Ant-Man before hiring Scott Lang. He uses the Gandalf’s head which was also reused in the new Jurassic World sets. Hank Pym also comes with an extra black head piece to presumably cover his entire face since the helmet didn’t? I believe he might have flashbacks in the movie of him as Ant-Man. This could also be a figure that never shows up in the movie as it could have just been a scraped idea during early production. I don’t believe an old Hank Pym could shrink anymore which is why he retired; we have to wait until we see the movie in about a month! The complete set took about 30-45 minutes to assemble. This set contains 2 numbered bags (1-2) you also get the pair of wings loose in the box. Thankfully mine were not creased. This set has one instruction manual, a comic adventure which features all three sets from the Summer 2015 Marvel wave. The comic for Ant-Man is nothing special other than showing the same thing as the box where Yellow Jacket is tossing around screws and LEGO bricks. Most people normally dread stickers but I’m so thankful for LEGO making the graphics as stickers since The ‘LEGO’ logo can be used on other colours of ‘Flat Tile 2X2, Round’ pieces since they are clear backed. Someone did mention they are not but that may be for certain countries. I defiantly need to Bricklink a couple of the sticker sheets for my upcoming MOC’s! Bag 1 features all the smaller builds and accessories including the white base with the ‘giant’ LEGO bricks representing a ‘Bright Red, Brick 1x1 and a ‘Bright Yellow, Plate 1x2’ The set also comes with the regular ‘Bright Red, Brick 1x1 and a ‘Bright Yellow, Plate 1x2’ to scale back when the figures are at their normal sizes. When pictures first surfaced of the set these quickly caught my attention. The LEGO bricks really set a scale for the Minifigures in context but you can also use them as regular Minifigures. Now it makes me wonder if the LEGO bricks will be in the movie, or if it's just a nod to the LEGO brand! The trailer does feature some simple blocks and other toys but I guess this made the most sense for a LEGO product to have ‘giant’ LEGO bricks. The screws are a very nice small build; it makes you want to build some large tools to go with them. The bag also contains two small ‘Earth Blue’ ants which are really cool. As I mentioned before, a super jumper is included. I would really discourage you using them since they chip the back of the legs. I really hope LEGO fixes this for those kids; otherwise they will have broken Minifigures within a few months of play. It also contains Ant-Man (Scott Lang) and Yellow Jacket (Darren Cross) Bag 2 features the Hank Pym Minifigure and main ‘flying ant’ build which I over looked. The model starts with building the main framework for the legs and wing attachments. The legs have very limited movement due to the large leg pieces uses. The second part is the abdomen which is defiantly the heaviest part of the build. I partially like the why the designer rendered the back as it’s so sleek. The head is the final part of the ant’s main body with its cool transparent yellow eyes and small mouth details at the front. The wings are attached last which are connected to the main body with a single ball joint each which allows for full articulation. One problem I did come across is that that the ball joint areas are besides the seating area for Ant-Man so the legs slightly rub against them when placing him in and it also limits you from moving the figure forward or backwards. It’s an easy adjustment though, you can use a ‘Cross Axle 7M’ and place a ‘1/2 Bush’ at either side before you place the ‘Ball Cup 3M Ø10.2.’ The wing pieces themselves are really cool and realistic since they have the small textures. I also dislike how the Technic beams are exposed on the wing joints; you could easily fix that by replacing the two ‘Crossaxle 3M With Knob’ with two ‘Cross Axle 3M if you are going to keep the wings tightly attached. I guess with the why LEGO have designed it gives you an option on how tight you want the wings attached. I really like that they didn’t be really lazy and included grey or black pieces for the bottom, instead the when realistic and added the ‘New Dark Red’ pieces across bottom of the entire build of the flying ant. You can also see some small amount of pink pieces which are not just there for fun, do believe they are added as realistic details. The actual build was pretty decent for its price. The model is very sturdy and nothing has fallen apart after swooshing it around for a couple of hours. Final Analysis/ Conclusion I absolutely adore this flying ant, is size is fairly small for the price of the set. Since this is a singular set from a specific movie the production value of the pair of wings and the two new helmets greatly affected how much the designer could put into the set. I’m not complaining about the size of the ant, it’s a perfect size and I wouldn’t change the size or the model, even those minor quibbles because I won’t be playing with it. I just feel it’s slightly small for the price. The addition of the ‘giant’ LEGO bricks and catapult feature, small ants, screws all set the scene and give a full sample of what you can expect from the movie. For £19.99 you cannot go wrong; it’s a great impulse buy from a movie and you don’t need to get tons of sets to get all the characters. The Minifigures, model’s and playability is all there. This is defiantly one of the best set around this price that LEGO has released in a few years. Good job designer. It appeals to me more than the current larger models on the market for sure. I got it for the Minifigures; boy was is a surprise and a successful set overall! Design: 9/10 – The design of all the elements in this set are amazing and the way they have been rendered and executed in the movie context is just outstanding! There are a few small clever details, references and jokes in this set. Build: 9/10 – The build was quite refreshing from the normal cars and boats in the Super Heroes theme. Minifigs: 9/10 – Ant-Man, Yellow Jacket and Hank Pym are all exclusive and will mostly likely never be rereleased in future sets in these variants, as Marvel is guaranteed to update and alter the designs for future movies. Playability: 9/10 – A great playset, including a ‘flying’ ant and a catapult; what else can you get for £19.99! The ant model is mostly adjustable besides the limited movement on the legs. Parts: 9/10 – This set mostly consists ‘New Dark Red’ and ‘Earth Blue elements ‘as well as a hint of dark pink. It does include one or two odd exclusive recolours and don’t forget the exclusive helmets. Price: 9/10 – The overall models feel slightly small but the price is somewhat higher due to possible costs for new helmet moulds and the wings, the fact the price is fairly low it’s hard not avoid. Overall: 9/10 – Defiantly everything a young kid would want, some small nit-picks may frustrate AFOL’s and fans of the movies/ comics. I really hope you enjoyed this in depth review; feedback and criticism is much appreciated. You can find the full album of pictures here: https://www.flickr.c...157652352125904
  3. Hello everyone. Just wanted to share my recently finished (but not completed) Micro Star Wars Chess set built for my twin 7 year old sons. They are big Star Wars, Lego and Chess fans and I felt this was something nice I wanted to share with them and everyone here. Obviously it's not completely original and the micro figs are from the Battle of Hoth game set. I was also fortunate enough to acquire the Promotional Lego Star Wars Battle of Hoth Keychain which included the ultra rare printed 2 x 2 Tile with the Star Wars logo. 6. This is one of 4 micros I built as prizes for the Guild Creation category of the Summer Joust. This particular model was focused on the landscape of Rauor. Rauor is just a fictional land I made up, and tried to develop the culture and setting of with these 4 micro builds, the rest of which will be posted soon. If you'd like to see more details about the Summer Joust, check that out here: link. Thanks for looking, C&C appreciated
  7. This is the last of 4 micros I built as prizes for the Guild Creation category of the Summer Joust. These 4 builds were meant to fit the category, so I focused on different aspects of the same civilization: castle, town, farm, and landscape. I chose to name it the Land of Rauor, as Rauor is the Norse word for red and I used red roofs to help tie all the models together. All 4 together: You can see more pictures on brickbuilt Thanks for looking, comments always appreciated
  8. This is the third of 4 micros I built as prizes for the Guild Creation category of the Summer Joust. This particular model was focused on a city of Rauor. You can see the first and the second builds already. 10. Seats: 1x Batman (Adam West.) My aim was to pack as much detail as possible whilst still having clarity and simplicity into the model without having additional weight to the model e.g. height and length. Two aspects of the model wouldn't have made the outcome as accurate those are the '6141554 - Plate 2X2 27 Deg' and '6141556 - Right Plate 2X2 27Deg' for the front and rear of the model. Additionally the featured stickers are from '75909 - McLaren P1' which add the iconic front details. Ironically they are perfectly shaped for this Batmobile. 12. Hi all just want to share my LEGO ideas British coast line MOC
  13. In your mind, you're already there. You can hear the boisterous music and see the juggling clowns. The kids are begging for popcorn and cotton candy. Dad gets stuck buying the tickets and carrying the “IT’S SO FLUFFY I’M GONNA DIE” stuffed animal. Mom’s running another kid to the bathroom on the other side of the park while everyone else waves from the top of the Ferris wheel. The water ride claims your cell phone and next to you a kid loses his lunch on the “Vortex of Terror.” By the end of the day, everyone’s tired and sure your wallet is considerably lighter but overall, it was a good day. When can we do this again!? There are more pictures and angles in this video:
  14. Micro Eastern Palace The difficult part of this creation was getting the thin columns between the windows and the larger column. I had to turn some panel pieces on their side and create some interesting internals to get the pieces to stay together. To me this build isn't the most exciting but I did have to use some crazy building techniques to get the different setup. Comments on the technique?
  15. Planet: Marphacia - B05 Tags: Military, Building. Chapter 2: Uplink. Yseult stood on the upper terrace on the eastern side of the M.A.N.T.I.S. outpost watching the Marphacene sunrise. As usual, the morning mists diffused it into a messy and unattractive blur that was far too bright for her liking but she hadn't been able to sleep again, so she watched it anyway. Why am I here, she pondered, considering the unusual events that had led to her being wrapped up in the Galaxy's 'most avoided' mega-coporation. She didn't trust them, but then they probably didn't trust her either... except maybe for that scientist... Why an I here Big Sal? Why did you bring me in? "Late finish or early start?" The voice behind her came from a man carrying two steaming mugs, one of which he offered her. "Either way" he continued, raising his eyebrows to emphasise the offer, and perhaps intonate that there is wisdom in having the drink. "Coffee?" Yseult asked, taking it with both hands, the warmth welcoming against the brisk early morning air. The man let out a wry smile. "I wish" he responded. "Why pay to ship in coffee once they discovered you could get twice the caffeine from locally grown delicious cold-steeped brooga beans. Just add..." He looked, down at his mug with a worried expression. "Well, anything that'll take the taste away". Yseult couldn't stop a brief smile and an ever more brief chuckle. She looked at her feet as if to hide her face in embarrassment; it had been a long time since anyone had made her laugh. The man carried the smile he had from evoking the reaction openly. "And there was everyone telling me the new girl was just a walking bad temper." He said, holding his mug forward. That's because I am she thought. She considered the gesture, Friendship her heart implored. You can't trust him her head warned. Warily, she raised her mug and they chinked with a dull thud. "Riddaeon" He said before taking a large gulp of the brew. Yseult stopped, perhaps she'd hoped she'd never have to tell him, she'd prefer not to. It was an instinct, she was safer if no one knew who she was, that was how it had been for five years now. That's how I survive. "Yseult" she finally said, as quietly as she could get away with before taking a long sip of the drink herself. She didn't mind the bitterness so much as the flavour of something trying to be a tart fruit and a herb at the same time. She lowered the mug and couldn't hold back the grimace of displeasure but upon seeing Riddaeon's similar reaction, they both found some comedy in sharing such an unpleasant experience. "It's very bad" she was finally able said once the taste has stopped forcing her mouth into a painfully tight sliver. The moment was broken by the sound of an approaching shuttle as it flew directly overhead and disappeared at the peak of the pyramid-like structure that formed the outpost. 'Uplink' was a communications hub, its landing bays arranged vertically down the centre of the North and South faces with smooth walls of opaque and transparent composites on either side. The East and West faces were not so elegant, one having a huge dish for off-world communications and data transfer (the function that gave the outpost its name) and the other having the communal block and local transceiver antenna. At the top of the pyramid, 360 degree views were afforded to traffic control and the executive's offices, above which was their private landing pad. with regular traffic all being directed to approach the main landing bays from the North or South, a shuttle arriving from the West into the peak of the structure could only mean one thing... Someone important had arrived. Once the shuttle was out of view, Riddaeon looked back to Yseult. "Looks like news of your arrival is spreading" He said. She looked back at him, did he expect an answer? Did he think she knew who was in the shuttle? "I've seen people come and go in M.A.N.T.I.S." He continued. "I know what kind of people they are, what they look like". He paused for a moment, as if trying to figure out the answer to a question he hadn't asked yet. "They don't look like you." A tension emerged between them. Yseult knew M.A.N.T.I.S. operatives were supposed to be suspicious types, always looking for spies. Was she accused? Suspected? He took a last gulp of his despicable coffee and inspected the dregs at the bottom of the mug. "Why are you here... Yseult Brenneux?" He gave her one last look, then casually strolled back towards the building entrance. "I didn't tell you my full name" she call after him. He stopped, gently placed his mug on a nearby table. "No." he replied with certainty. "You didn't". He gave her one last glance, then turned and continued to the doors back inside. He's trying to read me she told herself, or scare me. She didn't like either. Uncertainty clutched at her. Where am I? Why am I here?. Would she ever get back to her normal life? But I don't want to go back. I didn't choose that life, they left me there. She was tired of looking back though, M.A.N.T.I.S. was a strange place but look what it offered. But if I leave, I'll never find her... I'll never get her back. Chapter 1: The mark Additional images:
  16. A top and within a spinning asteroid in the system that once housed the peaceful planet of Alderaan, a secret Imperial base receives its newest visitors. The AT-ST sentry once again turns its attention outward, ready at all times for Rebel incursions or hapless miners who inspect its home asteroid too closely. The asteroid base survives its tumultuous environment through the combined effort of a shield generator and reversed tractor beam buried in the rock. The base’s two docking bays are currently full; one holding the new visitors; the other holding their payment, a scrubbed Lambda-class T-4a shuttle. The new visitors are a combination of Imperial officers and smugglers led by ISB officer Goatm An. Using their Nubian light freighter, the crew bypassed Imperial, Rebel, and cartel checkpoints, blockades, and scavengers to make it across countless systems to their current port. Their contact on the base is a somewhat familiar face. After their run in on Bothawui, Goatm soon discovered that his (h)armless friend, Rom Mohc, was a renowned engineer and driving force of the Empire’s Dark Trooper project. The program’s current configuration is housed at this facility and is jealously guarded by aging and deteriorating clone troopers. Those troopers that are left completely rely on the lab and work of Mohc to stay alive; as such, they are mortally bound to the base and his current project. Goatm greets Moch as his crew unloads the supplies. Goatm’s unorthodox crew has been hand-picked for missions such as this because of their unique self-interest. Unlike the countless cadets coming out of the Imperial academy, these men are loyal only to themselves, a quality Goatm can appreciate and exploit. Bay 2 by goatman461, on Flickr Once their business is complete, Mohc shows Goatm his latest prototypes. The first two prototypes are of little interest to Goatm. Droids; mindless automatons designed to follow orders no matter what. But the Phase III prototype has promise. Though too big for any kind of real battle in space, the potential for this beast on land was staggering. Goatm politely logged his compliant about the size and its practicality fighting through the narrow corridors of a Rebel or Imperial cruiser. Mohc agreed and they concluded their business. Thank you for checking out my latest freebuild. C&C are always welcomed and greatly appreciated. I would only like the docking bay judged. Thank you in advance.
  17. What's up Eurobricks! Today I am gonna show you some of micro goodness I made. Let's start with the pics of random Battlemechs, generally inspired by Mad Cat/Timber Wolf. Bipedal Mechwarrior-style Mech by The Mugbearer, on Flickr Here I tried a number of color schemes and got really satisfied with the results. Weapons are general cannons and missile pods. Bipedal Mechwarrior-style Mech 2 Loadout 2 by The Mugbearer, on Flickr Now here's something different. I have changed the cockpit part and replaced cannons with lasers and missile pod with an artillery. Also cockpit features another laser. Bipedal Mechwarrior-style Mech 2 Loadout 3 by The Mugbearer, on Flickr This one has more classic weapon consoles with two miniguns. Shoulders feature a missile pod and something that should resemble a PPC in one of it's iterations. Cockpit has two machine guns. Bipedal Mechwarrior-style Mech 4 by The Mugbearer, on Flickr This one is something completely random with paired autocannons and a "hunch"-mounted machine gun. Next in line are two 'Mechs that are vaguely based on the UZL-3S "Uziel". Bipedal Mechwarrior-style Mech 5 by The Mugbearer, on Flickr Bipedal Mechwarrior-style Mech 7 by The Mugbearer, on Flickr It's up to you to tell me which one does represent the Uziel better. Now there's two MOCs that are very closely based on 'Mechs. Bipedal Mechwarrior-style Mech 1 by The Mugbearer, on Flickr Here's HBK-4G, aka Hunchback. Man, I remember playing this sturdy guy in MWO. Good times. Bipedal Mechwarrior-style Mech 6 by The Mugbearer, on Flickr And then there's a Vulture, that is known to Battletech fans as Mad Dog. Now onto models that were specifically made with certain 'Mechs in mind. Bipedal Mechwarrior-style Mech 3 - Atlas-style by The Mugbearer, on Flickr Ah. The iconic AS7-D, more widely known as Atlas. Based on this color scheme. Bipedal Mechwarrior-style Mech - Kinda Daishi by The Mugbearer, on Flickr And then there's Daishi/Dire Wolf. Based on this image. Maybe there will be more, I might also consider suggestions from you guys. Enjoy. :)
  18. Hi, this is my entry to the MiddleEarth Contest. It is an affordable version of Barad-dûr (including a Nazgul). It is probably too small for a set... I hope you like it nevertheless. Best wishes ArchitecureFan
  19. Someone recently asked me about whether my micro stuff is set in a universe, preset or otherwise. So I decided to bore you all with a topic about it..! [sorry. Part One Follows..] Précis Humankind (known as Earthlings to the other species of the Galaxy, mostly a derisory label) had colonised the Sol System by 2110. It was only then that breakthroughs were made with their faster-than-light systems, allowing them to progress and expand outwards from Sol. But humankind remained fractured by old divides and hatred, countries and nations. By 2195 there were several local colonies, American, British, European, Russian and a smattering of ground broken by smaller governments. Meanwhile, mega-corporations were quick to expand into the resource exploitation and manipulation made possible by so much new ground. Space became crowded around the human homeworld. Safe and secure and very bureaucratic. Humankind kept mostly cordial relationships with several alien cultures and organisations, remaining mostly neutral as they put toes into the waters of interstellar politics. FTL drives were invented with longer ranges, less restrictions. And human pioneers expanded ever outwards, into what was known as the Galactic Rim. Far away from the crowded, developed Core Worlds, many humans found their fortunes and opportunities farflung from Earth. The old Sol governments expanded cautiously, sensing the security risks involved. Individuals and smaller groups were joined by the resource and opportunity hungry Mega-corporations in setting up outposts and operations away from the stifling Core. Humans were less neutral out on the Rim, forced into conflict and alliances with new and dangerous species. Ship classes: -Fighters: The smallest fighters need one pilot and are equipped with cannons or forward firing missiles. They have no FTL capability of their own, so are used to protect static targets or need a large carrier craft to be deployed from. Pilots are easy to train and often quite disposable. 24. High in the mountains, through rocky paths and freezing passes, over mountain pastures and valley villages, lies the Bellfast Citadel. Built as the last bastion of men in the second era by Barwyck the Bull, the castle has never fallen. It's strong walls, and two gates, as well as a tunnel where food can be smuggled in in the event of a siege, has insured that any that live inside will not be taken. There are rumors being spread among the citizens that there is an ancient dwarven stronghold nearby. 25. https://www.flickr.c...ks/13675376864/ In 1979 a book called 'Future Cities' was published by Osbourne www.flickr.com/photos/wiless/2394285685/ It was about 'homes and living into the 21st Century'. As a child I read it from cover to cover many times. It inspired me to build an ocean floating city of the future from Lego. Found it in the loft last weekend. Didn't even know I'd kept it. It inspired me again.
