Lego themes that we would like to happen
dr_spock replied to YellowCorvette's topic in General LEGO Discussion
A Gerry Anderson theme would be cool. There are so many models in his various productions like Space 1999, UFO, etc.- 451 replies

I have a fire station set on display for over 30 years. The fire trucks rubber tires are not cracked but harden. Over the years some of the chemical leeched out of the tires and etched the baseplate. It left sunk in tire marks on the plate. I do not know if the same chemicals and rubber are used in the CMF rubbery pieces. It is hard to say if those CMF rubber pieces will perform the same long term. Or if they need to be treated from time to time.

Many people do not read guidelines including EB site guidelines on Ideas promotion. I wonder if it will be rejected on that technicality.

I displayed mine too but some of them seemed to have harden and cracked. Maybe it was my basement. -
GBC General Discussion
dr_spock replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I like to build mine with the motor being easily accessible. Motors do burn out from time to time. Also the mechanism visible if possible. I display my GBC at events where inevitably some kids will want to know how it works. It is just much easier to show and tell with everything visible and also performance maintenance.- 1,124 replies

Good time to get into the hobby. Winnipeg is opening its first LEGO Retail store. It can be bad for your wallet.

There is going to be a lot of made in China LEGO. LEGO is building and will be operating its own factory in China. It should be fully operational by 2017. The new factory and distribution center will mainly serve the Chinese market and some exports to Asia. Growing Chinese middle class parents worry about toy safety too and would rather spend a bit more on premium brands.

Washed a bunch dirty Technic liftarms and connectors.

Got a wheel alignment after the strut replacment.

Replaced worn struts. It was pretty easy except for the tie-rods. How do I dispose of the old struts?

OPPORTUNITY: [NORTH AMERICA] LBR PAB Case Sale Event
dr_spock replied to CopMike's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Those may be the more successful PAB stores if they don't have excess pieces to sell off. -
Silly me, I should have guessed from your avatar pic.

8258 Stickers Wanted
dr_spock replied to PorscheQuattro21's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
You could try to scan your copy of the stickers and reprint them on sticker paper. My 8258 stickers are cracked. I should have scanned them first. Oh well... -
Welcome to Eurobricks, Steve. My cat did the same thing in the 1000 bricks box. That was a lot of bricks to wash.

Welcome aboard, Karlota. Who is your favorite Friends?

Thanks. I displayed it last weekend at a kids picnic. The dolphins seemed to be a hit with the kids. I probably should have included the cattle and car from 60052 and see if it gets the same reaction. Maybe it is special charter train to take fans to the event. I believe in Amtrak in America has trains and special fare for the NFL Football Superbowl.

Sweet. Let us know if you need help building.

Nice work. Looks good. I think you can still have the valves and stuff on top of the tank. They just have to be below the outer frame so they don't get crushed when another ISO container is stacked on top.

Soccer balls are 14mm in size. Spheres are around 16mm in size. Flat area may not be a problem if the ball has enough momentum or a steep enough incline to overcome it. I've used 14mm Chinese beads for GBC that have a flat spot too. It could make for a more challenging or maddening game if the ball is stuck on the flat spot and you tipped the base too much and it falls into the wrong hole.

Mad Max, Fury Road. Not much of a plot but do watch it for the almost non-stop action.
