BMW E30 Build Thread
Rockbrick replied to nicjasno's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I'd rather spend 300€ on this than a certain orange offering from lego and the certain stuttgart go-kart manufacturer.... Probably been asked / answered before: but are the pneumatic cylinders modified with a spring inside ? or pumped up and sealed off? -

First of all some pictures to jog our memories: Looking at the instructions - should be easy to suspension-ize 8145 - it has most of the parts already - just remove the bits blocking the suspension travel and add springs (look at the retro forumla one model cars for ideas) use cv joints for the rear axles if you want drive too... on 8653 the space is a bit more limited but should not be impossible get some LDD models of them (must be some out there) and experiment - and of course show us here what you do...

Uses for differentials
Rockbrick replied to aminnich's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Differentials when used with planetary gears as Power Split Devices (PSD) are used in Hybrid Care scenarios where you have a motor-generator, an electric motor and the ICE (internal Combustion Engine) all acting on the power train which would be another differential to the wheels in lego you could have a L motor and and XL motor both acting on the drive train at the same time at different speeds and torques by using differentials (you could then run something off the crown wheel on the Power splitting part and connect it to an old 9v motor to generate power for the lights for example
