a couple of the 'potential' entries seem to be in violation of this rule: "Entries need to be new (never posted anywhere previously or shown at an event/LUG meeting)" has this rule been relaxed ? or can it be removed ? as they are good entries and would hate to see them not be able to compete...perhaps they should never have been entered into a previous competition thats all.

yes it will restrict the axle flex - but try it it may allow just enough if you use full pins all sides or use the steering arm on pins ir axles instead of ball joints (as seen on sheepo's MAP chassis)

Zero's workshop
Rockbrick replied to Zerobricks's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
very nicely done... should be possible with some 3d printed parts though I came up with this for a longitudonal diff - you have to assume you can connect one wheel to the black axle and the other to the Grey one (i.e. the grey tube and gear is one piece) -
[TC8] Folding Crane
Rockbrick replied to Erik Leppen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
as always the models that I want to build as soon as I see them are the ones that get most of my votes this is no exception -
instead of the ball joints and steering arms use half pins and these ... Should still get the flex but perhaps a bit too stiff - so experiment with full pins or halfpins on the chassis and full on the axle etc...

see this thread too: http://www.eurobrick...showtopic=98037 centre point was easier to steer in real cars with no power steering, also torque steer is reduced on accellerating and braking

Mountain Ranger
Rockbrick replied to CP5670's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
great size and it would go faster with less weight (lipo box) love the portal axle drive - so simple and using diffs too ,,,! how to you get it to crawl steer and normal steer with one servo? -
wiper is fantastic the steps are nice - a cheese here and there would not be amiss - but this whole set reminds me of seeing the old lego technic sets as a kid in the catalogues - in my mind they had details like this as we were in lego system mode with more details than function - then you get to technic and the functions are great but not the details so there goes your system models and they become enhancements for the newly acquired technic models..... good move lego... good move also I wish other builders for this competition would get ideas from the guys who are involving the forum members by sharing the design and steps along the way just presenting a model for the competition is not going to get as many votes as someone who has developed the model along with the crowd, taking others design opinions on board (= guarranteed votes almost) smart move competitiors.... smart move....

2045 Mercedes-Benz Antos
Rockbrick replied to Zerobricks's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
the crane is a work of art like a robotic arm....so many functions to play with...... the truck reminds me of lego technic from the 1990s...in a nice nostalgic sort of way- 14 replies

Small scale truck trial
Rockbrick replied to Zerobricks's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
This is the perfect chassis for most conditions - maybe use this rear 4 wheels with your new steered axles up front (at least there will be differentials at the front)- 22 replies

[MOC] Custom Forklift Mk II
Rockbrick replied to KevinMoo's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
if it was an official set - i'd buy it ...and it doesn't use yellow! hurrah! -
i dunno why but i still kept my old impossible to remove pins as with age they get worse - but I tested them all and threw out the bad ones and kept the ones that still work or are even loose

Art Machine
Rockbrick replied to uefchen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
amazingly entertaining to watch - like has been mentioned fixing the 'truck' on a pivot and changing the length of the track would yield some amazing designs yet not as good as the 'random' accidental one! -
Nano Truck

really cute - mine says hello - I like it when people fit a lot of detail/funcionality at this scale... -

love the mix of the old and the new - i like to build like that too no differentials means a lot of straight line torque but a large turning circle....
