  1. It is a big dilemma for me.... 8421 I got real cheap on ebay and got me out of my dark ages - but thanks to 42009 the prices have been coming down and now is the time to swap/sell - no doubt in the far future it will be more collectable again but only in box etc... mine is in great condition, but no box - buggy motor and pneumatic cylinder brackets are in splendid shape. So either its 8421 or 8455 (with manuals and box - though box in bad condition) that needs to go if I want to get arocs
  2. Indeed... but he said "it went smooth" - he did not say "I managed to take it apart" my english is not being perfect I was not sure he had successfully taken it apart or not.
  3. very tempted to sell my 8421 - to buy this (i'm married I have to impose a one-in one-out rule) or trade my 8421 for this model ... ..would it be worth it?
  4. yep use the slot in the side or hole in the bottom of the red piece if it has one and push up with a pin - worst you get is some small tiny dimples on the shaft of the axle ...
  5. ....and with the mad max movie coming out we can expect to see more marvellous creations like this one...?
  6. it has nothing to do with function - both studless and studfull can be as functional as eachother. the fact remains is that studless is more compact when it comes to fitting more functionality per cm3 thats all
  7. More like Imperial Parquet-destroyer than ankle destroyer....
  8. the number on the box for one.... and of course updated version of any parts that received new molds since the last iteration.
  9. normally I don't like cutting of parts but after seeing the end result it is totally justified and improves the look!
  10. Lego have moved away from Rack and pinion steering more and more recenty (and even in the old days with 8455 and even using cables etc...) - but the fact is rack and pinion works well, strong and uses less parts and is also easy for a youngster to understand what is going on.... indeed it will rust the newer type - if you use water dissassemble the whole cylinder later and dry out well so a very thin oil may be better but it would have to be compatible with the seals and has to be filled with no air bubbles
  11. pneumatics would work if you filled them with thin oil or water... something non compressible - otherwise bump-steer is horrendous
  12. Boxerlego! on this forum we obey the laws of thermodynamics! ...
  13. The RC motor is fantastic for pumps - no need to use so many cylinders maybe one or two only, it can lift a very heavy load if your pipes are tight and no leaks anywhere:
  14. the eternal unanswered question - how long is a piece of string? Depends what you need to build - mostly studless does the job in a more compact streamlined manner
  15. Absolutely brilliant I ilke the ingenious blance hair spring
  16. I once used jb weld on an engine block core plug that was leaking coolant never on lego
  17. Well said LuxorV 9V was making conversation instead of referring to a machine.... at least he/she is not losing touch of humanity... they were engaging us into conversation and we pushed them away to use a search engine which as we all know will throw up all sorts of information all at once. It is not laziness - some people simply cannot handle too much information all at once and would rather ask a person On a recent trip to Germany I was suprised to see so many orange Unimogs in motorway maintenance, with various attachments and other mercedes trucks too, you don't really see that many in other countries in general us - more specialist use
  18. for me its an important part of building as it lets me play with lego at work..... then I go home and try things out for real
  19. I got this set about 5 years ago coming out of my dark ages - @35 Euro and it came with more modern rounded cylinders... then came 8455, 8421, and well the rest is history
  20. its difficult balancing a job and a hobby (successfuly paying for itself or not) its really like two jobs - eventually you going to have to stick with one or the other
  21. worth getting this model now for the C model...!
