  1. I think its the perspective playing with our minds it does look like a rear hub sideways with the 'kingpin' being one of the holes steering arm attached the other...so it does look like it will have steering after all..... <pure speculation> though probably with an exagerated ackermann geometry ? and the HOG of course may be the rocket exhaust at the back? </pure speculation>
  2. this is far superior than any mini official set ever made.... I take my hat off
  3. Seem gold coloured versions of the 42000 hubs but with one of these attached ?
  4. I'm so glad you added steering, and in the same way as the original going through the body as you open close it.. Very nice to see the 90 degree change to the rack.... What happened to the hero factory hands?
  5. ...ok kids are getting this for christmas, and the wife too - one only, for all of them but only I get to build it and play with it.... that will work wont it? though the fake suspension at the back and apparently no HOG so no steering? may be a no-no, though a challenge for MOCing
  6. What's the leftover piece for? Large gear ring ....?
  7. You may need another LA or use pneumatics....
  8. indeed it is and its is a good job we can edit our photos up until the closing date!
  9. Ah i see now - I do not have these parts so I didn't know they were 'butted' up you could always place the diff longitudonally, and use tatra like bevel gears to get to it
  10. Why not use 4L beams (in pairs if you must) instead of 5L at the rear?
  11. Very nice little model can't wait to see it in real bricks
  12. creator has swallowed up model team - model team were all with technic features, creator has some non technic piece sets so I think a subtheme called 'technic creator' makes sense
  13. sorry for posting so much in my own topic but its the only way to organise my stuff for the entry to this challenging and so far very enjoyable competition - the fun really has been taking part and seeing all the other wonderful entries and how people have been thinking 'outside the box' when limited to 200 pieces... we will take the knowledge and experience with us for the next models which means we all win in the end... So on a 'box' theme I could not resist doing this for my promo picture as the entry for the competition:
  14. Looking better all the time.... Can't wait to see it in real not virtual
  15. 4. Trial Truck Entry name: Mini Trial Truck Part count: 199 Short summary of the functions: HOG Progressive Steering (front wheels turn more than the second set) for improved driving experience Pendular suspension on the front axle and two-axis pendular suspension on the rear 4 wheels Adjustable seats (tilt and slide) Flip-open front Promotional image: Parts image: Wip Topic link to see video and more photos...
  16. if you could manage to work this onto the hub and axle coming from the Universal joint: then you could attach a wheel to the end of the axle going through this - but it will be a sliding joint so keep that in mind stiffen it up a bit - use this one and two suspension arms side by side:
  17. mini ATV - its cute and fresh and there are too many excavators in the lego world already I think you need to work on the front steering hubs a bit - those would snag on objects if it is to be an ATV otherwise you're limited to smooth surfaces... here's how I did it in my 8 wheeler mini trial truck in the end, originally I started out differently - Lego has done similar before
  18. Needs a couple of clear bionicle eye pieces (41669) on either side of the front 'nose' 5L beam if you can spare the 3 pieces needed
  19. I take small comission for being manager, pay me in lego bricks....
  20. best thing is to do some calculations on how high this structure will allow you to build a tower to.... if its not too high then think of re-engineering it a bit on the same concept to enable a decent 10-20m (or more) tower to be built autonomously Then get some Crowdfunding behind you to buy the sections - people or businesses can have their name or website / product on each section they sponsor I reckon you could get loads of sections posted to you if you organised it and planned this well enough (let people know the design of the blocks and let people put stickers on their sections and you let them know which row they have or you could price different height sections at different prices... etc.. nearest the top costs more, nearest the bottom costs less etc.. (look to the likes of kickstarter indiegogo etc...) Then organise the publicity to do a world record attempt at the first ever tallest self built lego contraption - then you'll be invited to a few lego shows around the world etc..... (don't forget to donate a percentage to some charity and maybe the left over pieces to some kids home etc.... think along those lines) THIS HAS HUGE POTENTIAL plan it carefully, reap the rewards
  21. i think i have a new favourite... loving the retractable wheels but I feel the cabin looked nicer with dark grey beams With so many aeroplane themed entries I reckon there should be a plane theme competition soon too
  22. thats how its been in the past but who knows this time - in an ideal world the admins (and/or nominated team) would take the time to build the models and see if they fit certain criteria and award points that way
  23. nice work - don't know why we don't see more of these - this has got to be the first model I ever made with technic and system - as I live near an airport... I made a rear wheel steering version, 4ws, etc.. .etc.. in the days before LDD and digital cameras - they are only a feint memory now
