  1. indeed makes the official A model look like and F
  2. some very nice lines on that...
  3. any progress no matter how slow, is still progress
  4. saw some vintage racing cars in a historic weekend in Jerez recently, looking forward to seeing your version:
  5. should be an official set its that good/feature full....
  6. the hips move like sharkira.... we have a drummer a piano and now a technic dancer.... why not seriously though - you have to make prototypes to improve and improve.... and this is getting better and better
  7. my understanding of the rules is that the parts have to come from 2 distinct sets - 3rd not allowed even if the parts remain under 600
  8. One the best things I have seen done in lego in a looong loooong time (that isn't a vehicle) Every home should have one I think he should pair up with the drummer....
  9. loving it .... though in the real world All wheel steering and a High centre of gravity will only end in tears.... in the lego world it makes this model even more interesting
  10. indeed the taking part is most of the fun so I might just make do with what i have anyway - sorry I was feeling a bit negative yesterday...
  11. its better for us voters when there are less entries... but I can't help thinking the prizes put a lot of people off
  12. well that's me out of the competition - I do not have any sets post 2005 with 600 pieces granted I have a few sub 200 pieces but I feel to make a worthy model it would have to be close to the 600 pieces - which I cannot do with my current collection (2 of my post 2005 will only add up to < 400 pieces) (i mainly only have large flagships models post 2005, and a few small ones the kids have) I can only hope that I happen to have the parts from a '600-piece-post-2005' set - time to look to rebrickable and then if I come up with something buy the correct colour pieces to be able to enter... ...which I am afraid is way too much trouble at the moment - good luck to all.
  13. by trying on the table and seeing things not work straight away is how we learn better to solve the problem, looking good so far... I converted my 8865 once to 4WS - and I had a gearbox on the steering to select full opposite lock steering, honda prelude style 4WS (rears turn a little bit in relation to the front) and full crab steering but It only worked limiting it a bit as the ackerman would take over and mess it all up - you had to change the selector when all wheels were in a straight line too
  14. based on ZBLJ's kolos chasis (the only 100% accurate one ever) - it cannot climb over ants due to gearing and needs a diet to be more nimble, and an XL motor with a nice gearbox to sort that out it looks like a Kamaz/Iveco though:
  15. Weather here has been too nice so haven't had time for any changes yet but planned changes are: reduce weight lower gearing (currently nice and fast but can only climb over shoes, very flat shoes) increase wheel clearance Would be nice to try and get the rear suspension system applied tot the front but at the moment I cannot see how, unless from underneath somewhow but this would compromise ground clearance I think a centre diff would be good too but it hits the bodywork at the moment
  16. never considered buying 42029 ...... until NOW!
  17. ...so when they lose their original form you go to bricklink.....
  18. stretching these springs makes them behave linearly compressing them, well they just pop sideways all of a sudden they would need two pin holes at each end to stop that or enclosed somehow
  19. we are not worthy..... Lego please employ him
  20. not a fan of the look of the springs - but they do handle beautifully.... the diff is excellent and the 5L beams well why not - 6l 7l 8l should be available in all sizes
  21. The 2907 ball with grooves has been used as a HOG steeriing 'wheel' too i'm sure somewhere in the smaller sets the 2736 Axle Towball will fit wherever you put it - its the size of the old yellow hands of the original lego figures from the 70s before the minifigs took over
  22. I think in lego it would be easier to have the input and control motors of similar torque or just use the same motos and a variable resistor for the control ones ... ...like a friend of mine who restored his car piece by piece with shiny new polished parts... the car was better than showroom - it took him 15 - years to do he drove it a couple of times and then died in his sleep. He wasnt that old either. Later I found out he was an alcoholic and that restoring the car kept him away from the bars and his wife happy...
  23. The torque transfer is what's different about this, no belt or clutch, but I'd think it would be difficult to maintain two side speed inputs at the same speed in Lego to keep it in neutral....
  24. theres seems to be one input on the left and output on the right the two inputs on the side are what make the system either a running neutral: both running the same speed, reverse: one full speed the other stopped, and then everything in between - infintiely variable ratios I suppose that is kept a bit hidden due to patent pending - but some sort of electrically controlled automatic gearbox with 'virtual' ratios comes to mind for the side inputs you could have two lego motors which you control the speed of the shafts controlled by the variable speed controller Remote this will give you some virtual forward and reverse gearing based on the increments of the controller then an XL motor as input and whatever as output as the input is on all the time - this is clutchless and lets you apply power to the output gradually by altering the ratio of the two side inputs
