  1. I can never figure out Lego pricing. The Saturn V rocket was 1969 pieces and was $120, this is slightly more piece count and is $150. I really like this set so will pick it up, but the pricing confuses me. Saturn had to be licensed I assume with NASA, this has no license at all. I really like the colors on this set and while it can't be attached to the other modular sets, it would be cool to get some blue water baseplates and add to the town atmosphere at one end. The trawler idea is excellent and would fit right in with those blue baseplates.
  2. yes, it is printed, no stickers on any Architecture sets that I can recall (could be wrong), it actually looks really good when all lined up
  3. Picked it up, $80 US, it is probably 2.5 times the size of the older one, I could be wrong...much more detailed, which makes for a somewhat tedious build as you put 1x1 tiles on the façade pieces. Overall it is a great looking piece and really makes the older one obsolete, not that I would get rid of it. I am looking forward to the Arc, but I feel this scale is where Lego needs to be on all builds going forward, the older smaller sets are great, but this scale has the ability to really show the right detail without getting so big we have to clear off lots of shelf space. Cityscapes are great in their size as well, but for a single building, I really like this size in the 700-1000 piece range. Lego per piece is getting expensive though, this one comes out right under 11 cents a piece, but there are at least 150-200 1x1 pieces so I agree, pricey for sure. Not sure if they had a license fee on this one but it does have the FLW foundation logo on the box. Anyone know the Arc price?
  4. I really like this and it is basically production ready from TLG...you should put this up in Ideas as well. Great job all around on all facets of the skyline.
  5. Looking forward to it, I guess I thought both sets out at the same time, but excited for both, like Fairsy, I have them all, this series is my favorite.
  6. I agree, this looks fantastic, can't wait to see it, not sure I want to see the price, but excited to get this, and a launch tower would be icing on the cake if they did that as well.
  7. Seen the Arc yet?
  8. The Guggenheim is in stores in Europe, a friend of mine is in Lego Store Milan Italy and posted a pic of it on the shelves. Didn't think they were supposed to put it out this early, but Europe might have different rules.
  9. I think this is one of the best builds I have seen in a long time, be proud of your work, this is great. Having been to the Cali LEGOLAND, I feel you nailed the feel of it.
  10. This is pretty cool, just don't ever post the original file or Lepin will steal it to make the set. Great work and great job, enjoyed the progress through the posts, never been there myself but on the travel list.
  11. Very nice MOC, my daughter really likes this movie, it is a bit odd for anyone who is going to watch it, but it has an appeal. Still the movie doesn't take away from the great job in creating Totoro here, wonderful piece, bet it would do well on Ideas.
  12. I just received London, felt the same as Fairsy, quick build, liked it a lot and I like the multi dimensional look over the first series.
  13. Anyone know Guggenheim price? My city scape sets are on order, but I agree, never Willis Tower, Sears may go bankrupt but it will always be Sears Tower to me. Thanks for the pic of the Guggenheim, but this makes me wonder, since last year we got 2 sets at the end of the fall for Architecture, will the museum and Arc be it for the year?
  14. I am thrilled to see this set, then see that there are add ons that could be produced such as a dock and a boat repair shop, very cool idea and really glad TLG stepped out and made it. I wish they would re-release the very first Cuusoo/Ideas set of Shinkai as well, they didn't produce many and only in Japan.
  15. I like it, what is a brick loot box, is that similar to the box craze, like loot crate and all that? Anyone have a link to order this?
  16. Since we had seen London before and got the review, I will just reiterate that I like that one... Chicago - love the fact they included the Bean, and while the Red Block is not a great building per se, I like that there is some color in this one. The one building I don't like in this one, is Wrigley, it is such a better building than depicted, but I guess it is included at least. Sydney - Never been there but I like the inclusion of the water and bridge and the buildings are nice. Will be interesting to see where they go next, I would like to see maybe Rome, or a city in Spain, or how about this one...Jerusalem...
  17. Great looking house, this movie is a staple in our house on Christmas Eve with the mention that Fred said, since it is on for 24 hours. A friend had given me the DVD as well. Fun movie, great looking build, thanks for sharing
  18. Thanks Captain Nemo for perpetuating the stereotype. So anyone have a rumor for the sets other than January? The two released recently were bigger so I am going to assume they are similar, but wonder what they will be, maybe an Alcatraz so the admins can stick me in jail. hahaha
  19. cool, thanks guys and Bob, not trying to be a pain, but please in the future, could you maybe say ok, taking these pictures down but stay tuned for announcement on Thursday as Lego opens their new flagship store in London when we will be able to not only reveal the pictures but provide a review as well. It's a more likeable approach which tells us that 1. pics not ready yet and 2. pics are coming and 3. you did a kick butt review so you can PR yourself. I sense you are a good guy but lose all the admin attitude and that will go a long way, your fellow admins could do the same, this is a news and discussion site, not a lock down secret place where only certain folks get info. The way you all go about things sometimes, almost makes me scared to post cause you will come crack me across the knuckles... oh and by the way, how cool would it be to have the super size London set that is there vs the smaller set we will get, too bad they didn't produce both...can't imagine the price on that one, but that would be way cool to have
  20. Nope, first, not sure if you are using embargo correctly, so you are saying the set did not go on sale until today? There was no publicity about it at all? Really doesn't matter cause the pics and sets are out now, but who is to saw CM didn't get it early for the same reason you did. Since you have the inside scoop, what can you tell us on the other sets?
  21. So I am a little confused Bob, you had the set the whole time and you took down the pictures even though you knew it was available? That's kind of tacky. The set was clearly out for public in places and the pics were not hurting anything. Do you have the other sets already as well and can show and review those?
  22. Yes, here is what was the first post by CM4Sci, so I didn't see release dates on them, but expected Jan 1. Which I think is what it was last year for the sets, with likely one or two more during the year similar to this year in the 3rd quarter. I would love to see them spaced out a bit so we can get one every couple of months vs a bunch all at once. There were pictures on Reddit at one time of these, but not sure if they are still there or if there are now official pictures such as we see on the ebay posting for London. I really do hope that London is not an exclusive though, would love for anyone to confirm that...
  23. Wow, I can't imagine that is London only, maybe it is special to that site until it goes on sale worldwide on January 1. I know the AFOL community was majorly annoyed by the Marina Bay Sands being exclusive and it cost quite a bit to get ahold of that one for everyone who collects architecture. I know I will not be thrilled if this is the case, Lego will risk alienating a lot of people if they continue this practice. Anyone know any info on this? And since it is on ebay already, can we put the pictures back up Bob?
  24. This is a great looking set if you ask me, I like the way they incorporated the eye into it. The Bridge with the boat is great, the Column is great, going to have to pick this one up for sure.
  25. wow, this is so cool, and your influences, especially Dr Who special, made me think right away of the ones I have seen, but even more than that, the house is spectacular and this is a great build, everyone keeps upping their status with every one of these, fantastic job
