  1. very good points, and very apropos to this discussion especially with the ripoff companies involved, now to just try to be patient enough for the announcement
  2. I agree with kovacs, likely means nothing. I think we get an all new modular, hopefully 1 January and be it a police station, flower shop, hardware store, steakhouse, apartment building, etc I believe any announcement will be held back at least until Nov 24 (Brick Friday) or later due to our ripoff friends in China. Like it or not, this is going to be the normal process from now on due to that company. Now I have seen a set in person from that company, it was spot on. They have also stolen MOC's and re-engineered them, those sets seem to be lacking in quality is my understanding but if it is an official TLG set, then it will get ripped off and sold for way cheaper. I believe TLG has to protect themselves since any lawsuits will never get resolved. Sucks for us as AFOL's on building excitement. We will have to change our mindset to more what we want to see, which we discussed a bit on BB and there are definitely two sides, but I think we all agree we want to see something new for 2018.
  3. I guess we have a couple camps, to me the laundromat was basically so small and plain it was pointless to have it there. One little tiny room with 2 washers and 2 dryers, what's the point? The office over the laundry was way cooler to me. Brick Bank is probably my least favorite set due to the size and extra cost for seemingly less Lego space and enjoyment. It was almost like this one was an afterthought since they were likely working on AS to come out the following year. If it is possible to have too many details, this one was it, with its cramped compartmentalized spaces that are hard to get hands into and build. I have seen 50 MOC's that are better than Brick Bank. Just looking at Paupadros MOC's above my post make me drool over those way more than BB. Those are ones I would buy 10 times quicker than BB. And so I hope, whenever it is announced, that the next modular has thought and coolness built into it.
  4. I find it interesting that the opposite page had sets listed for Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom, which is apparently the next movie and while I don't collect the JW sets, I was excited to know another movie was coming. I just wish the picture showed 3 skyline sets instead of 2.
  5. I would take that as an answer that NC is NOT the 2018 modular. A big no to a police station, while I am not opposed to it, we have what, 45 police stations from the city line. I hope they are creative and I feel one main building is enough. The brick bank for example, please someone tell me why it couldn't have just been a bank? I get the whole story idea where the kiddies need to have some kind of link between their sets, but this is a modular. I just want a cool building. I haven't gotten AS yet due to price, but that is very nice. I don't recall what page it is on, but back in this thread we discussed the need for apartments, to me that would be great, a good old fashioned apartment building with a doorman and several spaces for living quarters. I also know there was a pattern such as corner, front, front, front, corner...I don't recall where we are now though, I think another front facing building which makes an apartment building fit in nicely.
  6. I am going to guess we find out no later than Nov 15. You have to generate buzz for the set. Then again, maybe TLG figures they have a product they know will sell and do not feel they need to worry. I just got a catalog for the holiday time rush so they likely need to let that one soak in a bit, let the kiddies pick their faves for under the tree and then for us AFOL's they will bust out some announcements later. Annoying, yes, but I get it, with the Chinese rip-offs coming every day and really no way to stop it, they have to protect their brand. Having seen a rip-off in person, the CC, it was literally the same exact build minus the brand name on the circle. With the prices the copies are charging, TLG does need to do something and if holding announcements back does that, well I can't blame them.
  7. Café Corner, the Maersk train (somehow missed that one), some of the old adventure or wild west sets, the space sets like 7647
  8. I just got the email, $370 is a far cry lower than the resellers on ebay and other places. They are going to be a tad hacked off I would guess. I doubt they are improving the set at all, but it is nice to be able to pick this up for folks who missed it the first time. I wonder if TLG will make this a standard practice? Always need an extra brick separator to go with the other 200 I have already.
  9. When other lines get 10 and 15 sets per line, 6 is chump change, let's just agree it is a much lesser paid attention to line.
  10. Anyone hear of other sets coming in January or just these two skylines? I doubt they will redo Pisa, that was big enough and good enough to leave alone. This is my favorite theme, but it seems it is the most forgotten theme as well by TLG.
  11. Absolutely amazing. I would buy this in a minute...fantastic work.
  12. TLG has asked Lego Peru to take down the pics of the catalog, so I assume that is where Teufel saw the catalog. That is where I saw it as well. So I would say it is confirmed though.
  13. If you have Instagram, find a person named lego_peru they have the catalog up as well as the UCS MF
  14. Thanks for the info, I was skeptical but these look good. Trying to figure out what the brick building is on the left for Vegas. Shanghai looks great.
  15. So was CM4Sci til they banned him so SirVonLego will want to be careful
  16. Proof? I would call it a nice idea at this point and I hope it is true but just conjecture at this time.
  17. Argh, as one who hunted down MBS, the original all white Lego House and the Airport, I was hoping for wide release. Guess I will pay another premium through eBay or some sort of secondary market for this. Unless someone on here is in Denmark and wants to help out the rest of us? I like it, it is over priced to me considering a lot of 1x1 pieces, but for the most part, Lego is way overpriced anymore anyway. I would put this set at roughly half of what they want as a good price for it. Am sure producing it for 100 times less than price. Still, I will open my wallet, guess it is better to buy this than have other vices. Thanks for all the information.
  18. Thank you, I do remember the older Lego House set that was all white, not sure if it was Architecture series or not, but they said they would do a bigger colorful one when the actual building was complete. The only problem is they are likely going to offer it just in Billund. Frustrating for us that do not have the budget to head over there to get it, but is on the bucket list for travel.
  19. There was a picture today shared in the Lego Architecture page on facebook of set 21037 of the update Lego House. It is in German or maybe Danish I believe so I cannot read it as I know more Spanish and Chinese but not either of those languages. Brickset already has a placeholder for it, but no picture. The picture in the facebook article makes the set look huge so I am not sure that would be the final set to consumers. And while I am not sure of the wording, I believe it may speak to the set being exclusive to the Lego House in Billund, which would not make me thrilled as it would be hard to add to my collection. In any case, if someone does see this and can translate, if you could update here, would be greatly appreciated.
  20. As a native Iowan who has been around tractors, this tops the list of any model I would want to buy in Lego. If this was produced, I would be first in line. Just an excellent job, I can't say enough of how nice this is. Thank you for sharing with us and your creativity in building is top notch expert level.
  21. Looking through the entries, there are some really good ones, some really bad ones. I like the Rapa Nui one, that was kind of a surprise, Indianapolis, San Francisco, Lisbon, Taipei, and a few others are great to me, I hope TLG can take some of these and make them reality. Good luck to any EB members who enter.
  22. I get what you are saying but it is a bit nitpicky, technically that building was never the capitol building, you are right. The one in St Charles is technically the first building. The Old Courthouse building is now part of the Arch (Jefferson national expansion memorial). Not sure if you all know but they have just redone Kiener Plaza, I have mixed feelings. I used to eat lunch in the amphitheater there and look at that building every day. Now that is gone and it is all "new" but that area is super busy during game days; not so much any other time unless they hold some event there. The whole Arch grounds have also been redone. There is now grass there so you can walk all the way down if you choose. They want to build up that riverfront area if they can.
  23. This is awesome, I am not sure how you do it, but if you could share that LDD file with me, I will try to build this. I currently live in St Louis and am from Jeff City. You are both correct in that the capital was once there downtown, moved to St Charles til the early 1800s and then moved to JC. Oddly enough JC's original name was going to be Missouriopolis, how fun would that be. In any case, great design as the climatron doesn't immediately come to mind when thinking St Louis skyline. Most of the time you get the downtown buildings, the arch, a lot of folks include Busch Stadium, but there are unique buildings like that around. One of my favorite buildings is the Civil Courts building downtown, the base is your typical square brick building, but it is topped by an Egyptian pyramid. Forest Park with the zoo would be a cool build too as there are many structures there, but I think you did great with this. If you are on FB, you should post the pic to the Gateway LUG.
  24. I agree, it was hard to decide how to display, I went with the standard full rocket model with the two extra items (CM LEM) just sitting next to them. I displayed horizontally with the blue stands. I actually set it on the "good" shelves vs my shelves in the basement and it took my wife a bit to notice it. She didn't tell me to move it so it is in the living room. I might be wearing her down with cool Lego builds to be displayed upstairs, big win! Growing up in the 70's and 80's though, space was a huge part of my childhood and this set is amazing for me to have built. Been to Cape Canaveral recently and saw a rocket launch even, so this is a cherished set.
  25. great way to think about it, take for instance, Big Ben, very detailed with tons of 1x1 or variations of it to give the detail and that pops it into the $250 category, as you say possible unique molding, plus likely a license involved...I will be picking up the fishing modular, just interesting. My bucket list includes Denmark, have ancestors from there as well, so if I get there and am on the tour, I will be asking. I did get to LEGOLAND CA a while back but since they aren't owned by Lego, they didn't know much. Couldn't even get VIP points with my card on purchases. In any case, I really like this set's final design, just looks like you could head down to the water and find this and pick up some dinner.
