This is one of my favorite attractions at Disneyland and DisneyWorld...such great detail you put into it. Do you have details as to how many bricks? I would buy this set in a minute. Amazing.

LEGO Architecture "World's Tallest" Custom Series

I like both versions but now that I have seen your 119 piece version, I would have to go with that one. I might have to see if I can get that LDD file from you to try and build this one, I think I have all the pieces already. Thanks again for taking the time to do it. -

yep those are the Marina towers, your interpretation is pretty good for a mini scale version...those are tough as they aren't as round as they look, but each apartment has an additional round balcony that sticks out...super expensive to get a place there, but very unique, thanks for taking the time to do it. How about a Golden Gate bridge? That might test your abilities a bit? -

Did you see my Marina Towers post? Would like to see what you could do with those. -

How about one of my favorite oddball buildings, actually there are 2 of them as I remember, but the Marina Towers in Chicago, the circular apartments along the river downtown there, just west of the miracle mile...I believe the Capitol Records building in LA is also circular, but that is a straight circle while Marina is many little ones. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

Banjo beat me to it, but right, not til July or even September...release of CC again? No way, TLG is not into that anymore, they have to put at least 2 businesses into the build and drive up the piece count unnecessarily. The CC was just fine, it was pure simple build and done the way that was fine for the time. Didn't need a story, just a Lego model of a building. If it was re-released, it would need to be a hotel with a flower shop in it and a bakery attached out back. Disappointed in the bank, 2 levels, and due to the laundry, not big enough, but that is the way the line is going I guess. -
very nice, great job, the details in the front are great, it would be hard to get this 100% but you captured the spirit of the building wonderfully

So help me out, being from Iowa, which building would you do for my home state? To be honest, Des Moines might have a taller building or two, but being good natured, I challenge you to just do what is the right building for the Hawkeye state that produces the most corn per capita of any place in the world...a corn silo For my adopted and current home state of Missouri, I went with the Arch, but we have some decent buildings in St Louis, and having lived in KC there are a couple there, but none are much different than any other city, there is not a "stand out" building in either big city. I would still go with the Arch. Good luck! And thanks for the colorized version of Legodelphia, I agree, the color looks awesome on the plans but in actual building I think what you did was best. Now the stadiums ...I would go with the color. I continue to be very impressed by them all. -

wow, love the stadiums and Legodelphia, although the all white doesn't do them justice by any means, I would recommend using green for the fields and colors in Legodelphia but that would be a ton of work to go back and update...however huge praise to you for this, amazing stuff -

I haven't been on EB for a while, but was thrilled today to come and find this thread, every single building, dang, including the VAB (was just there last summer for a launch)...what kills me is here this thread exists and throws out what 30 at least buildings that could be easily made into real production sets. Don't get me wrong, I like the sets released so far and am looking forward to the 2 new ones, but how hard would it be to get these sets out as well. Count me in for very interested in instructions, etc... So my request, not a skyscraper or large building per se, but how would you do a St Louis Arch? And...do you feel you could feasibly do mini sports stadiums? -
Agree with everyone, if you want to collect the modular, start with older first that you can afford, that is up to your checkbook, but they will only go up in price. My favorite, mostly cause it was my first one was the fire brigade if you can afford it. Seems that as soon as one retires, it doubles in price.

One thing my wife noticed recently when I showed her the new modular, just the picture of it, was that it is really not easy to tell this is a bank from the outside, she thought it was a store or apartment building or something...so I tried to pull back and look objectively and she is right, for the most part it is really easy to tell what all the other modular buildings are from just looking at them until you get to the bank. I get that the eagle or whatever that is over the door is supposed to tell you, but if you had no idea this was a bank, you may not really know it is one.

Am excited for this just like everyone else, I also hope it is not just the bell but I am going to guess it is just the tower with a bell inside...if you go SOH size for the $325 USD price, that set had 2989 pieces and Tower Bridge had 4295 pieces...so this one will likely hit 3000 or more. And to put out the US Capitol in the same year, my wallet will take a hit, but those are amazing sets, especially since I missed out on Taj Mahal and the Statue of Liberty. Now to hope for a Feb release and then a later release so I can afford them both.

21026 Venice Cityscape is a nice model (but a terrible value.)
Herky replied to henrysunset's topic in Special LEGO Themes
nice review...I think that TLG is doing is any set that is over 200 pieces is automatically just $29.99...so if it was 301 it would likely be $39.99...I agree though, for Venice, $19.99 or $24.99 would be better. I was really hesitant on these until I saw them in person. Now will slowly pick them up with discretionary funds. -
I really like all of the mods that everyone has done...makes me wonder why TLG is trying to cram all of that stuff in one set, when they could come look at what could be done...I don't mind having a laundry and a bank, but as I see here, why not two buildings instead? Great job everyone, I was hesitant to pick this up but I think I might and try my hand at my first mod.

going to guess summer and fall so May-June and then Sept-October...found out that Barnes and Noble carries these sets, which they send out 20% off coupons every once in a while so the membership is going to be worth it to pick these up...10% normal with the membership
-
agree, they all seem to be $10 over priced, but that is the way, the modular series keeps going up and up as well, I would adjust thinking from a 10 cents per piece on avg to much higher in the coming years. I used to think and really still do, that 6-8 cent average is correct, this would drop the cost on these down to the levels I feel they should be...I believe I saw somewhere, when we went to Legoland, that the true cost per piece (adding in everything from manufacturing to advertising) is around 2 cents per piece. So at 10 cents they are making 5 x the amount in profit. I am thrilled we get the sets, but now I see prices, I may just wait for the landmark sets unless I can find them at a bargain price.

US Legoshop has all 4 sets with prices available for viewing, New York is $60, Burj is $40 (wasn't original $20?), Venice and Berlin are $30 each. http://shop.lego.com/en-US/Architecture-ByTheme

interesting, I don't think I have ever gotten one, unless it is in the book, I usually don't read the book part, just put the set together, thanks for the link

survey site? pray tell, can you post the link?

Yes I know that the Flatiron was done, so was Rockefeller Center...I guess my post lost its meaning there, essentially just keep on doing the larger buildings, these are so small and abstract, as contrails said above, didn't realize it was Chrysler...the micro scale can't do that building justice. This line is too small to really appreciate.

I could likely post this same response in each of the reviews but since this is the first one I came to, will do so here. 1. Review was fantastic, the folks who do the reviews are usually great and do high quality reviews with great information whether I agree with them or not. 2. As excited as I am to get 6 sets in the Arch line this year, I am super disappointed in the cityscape being so micro as I can see it now. 3. If this has a price point over $30 it will be the biggest TLG ripoff outside of the Ideas licenses but with 598 pieces I expect it to be $60 US easy. I love the idea of cityscapes, but just way too small and to me, the NYC is the best one cause I am familiar with these buildings. I would rather have seen them choose one building and just make a bigger set out of it. We have most of these in NYC already though, but just look at DanSto's OneWTC above, to me this is preferable than a tiny cityscape. You can still do Berlin and many more, just do one building. The scale to micro is too small now in my opinion. I really appreciate the review though, these may be the first in the line I do not pick up, it just seems Lego is giving us less and wanting more money for it.

well, 1. all Lego builds are somewhat repetitive and if you look at architecture overall, repetitive city, Pisa for one, Eiffel Tower, the first skyscrapers, etc. They have been selling Arches for years in all sizes down at the Arch, you could do anywhere from a 200 piece set to a 2000 piece set, sure it will be repetitive, but ever build a house in real life? Framing with studs and all, super repetitive, but that is what works. 2. I bet the designers could handle it 3. If you go to the St Louis Science Center, Adam did a great build down there, it would be on the creator end of the scale though, you could still do the Arch without the windows, half of the early builds do not have windows In the end, I don't really care, I am just excited to get 6 Architecture sets next year, but agree that we have too many DC buildings for US. Great builds all over, give me any one of the multiple suggestions over the years on this site, so many good ones.

I recall reading that as well, this time it would be bigger and not all in white, would have the actual colors...would be excited for that. 21029...wonder if that would go with the creator Big Ben set? I can't see how it would. Still wondering what the US one will be, Capitol is fine, we have the White House, but would more excited to see something else.
