Technically Taj is a religious building. Research it and there are all sorts of religious connotations with the building. Guess Lego just thought it was a tomb maybe.

That was the first thing I thought of when I saw it, guess that makes me pretty old these days. I wonder what inspired the Hall of Doom.

OK, this may sound insane but one I would like to see is a natural formation...Uluru/Ayers Rock from Australia. It would translate to Lego in an interesting way. Granted that is outside the norm, but I know there are other threads about this out there too.

So I feel that our theme is set for 2018. Great Wall, June 1 for most of the world and Aug 1 for the North America, then September with the Vegas Skyline. Really disappointed we didn't get a 10 year anniversary set for this line though. Interested in 2019 already, I feel they need more sets in this line, I would love to see about 8 sets put out next year, or at a minimum at least one every other month.

I do have to say that after I put it together, I feel this was one of the more awkward builds I have ever done. I have around 500 Lego sets and the base was fine, repetitive, but I expected that, it's a square after all, but the statue was just not fun to put together at all. I didn't have any issues with the arm that some have had, but the body, while not a hard build, just wasn't fun for me. I am looking forward to the Great Wall and the Vegas Skyline. I know it is early as well, but I really hope we get some cool sets for 2019. I have seen a lot of MOC's out there which fit right into the theme and are ones that hopefully Lego is also finding and using for ideas.

That's a sweet looking tractor, who signed the box? oh and 4000026 is the tree of creativity in the new Lego House in Billund

I also kind of wish they would have done it in the original color. Sure we all know it as green these days but when it was first erected it wasn't green. It was copper color, about the same color as Lego has already. Maybe they could offer a separate version in copper. I don't think there are enough to MOD one. I agree, hard to do anything on 2 plates wide, but some semblance of a face would have been nice.

So for everyone that has built it, the part I have a really hard time with is the face plate. I feel it ruins what is otherwise a great set. The lack of a try at a face feels like Jamie just mailed it in when it came to that. Face? no too hard, lets just use a flat plate...kind of a copout and maybe even a swipe at the French and US? Maybe that is over thinking it I guess, but the whole part there bugs me.

I can't get the Great Wall either, that is pretty interesting. I am kind of annoyed at this set, to really make it nice, I think you will need a minimum of two. They should have just made it bigger with one more tower and done a $65 price tag. I am sure there will be people who buy 10 sets and really do a Great Wall, just not in my budget but I will try to get two of them. I wonder why they aren't allowing North America to get this set.

Has anyone heard any rumors regarding the Las Vegas skyline and it's release date? I have seen many different ones, but imagine that the September one might be the right date at this point with the release of the Great Wall and Statue of Liberty on Friday.

Based on what they have on the strip, I would like to see Mandalay removed, and an older more nostalgic hotel in the line. Wynn doesn't need to be there either, makes me wonder how they picked what they did. MGM would be cool, but that hotel was way neater before they changed up the entrance a long while back. Caesar's is worthy IMO, Excalibur is right there on the corner, but to me, the best piece they could put on there would be Hoover Dam. Now how you get that on there I am not sure, but that is just as worthy as any hotel. Just not likely to be a choice though.

Depends on the religion, Taj is a UNESCO World Heritage site and I agree with you in my perspective, but others may not. It's not a huge deal, but I still think that many religious buildings out there are very cool architecture wise no matter if they are tied to religion or not. The Hagia Sophia is another one that would be cool, although it is similar to Taj. Even without the religious buildings, I am going to agree with you on the SOL. Monument/sculpture IMO when other buildings are better offerings. They did a survey/poll way back when on this line and the submissions alone would have set up the sets for a good long while but I think they only did 1 out of all of the submissions.

Technically the Taj Mahal is a Muslim tomb, so that is religious. Granted it is not in the architecture line, but just an example of TLG breaking their own rule if they do have a policy.

Good catch, maybe 21040 is the 10th anniversary set? Also I guess if they will do Great Wall that leads to other possibilities such as Macchu Picchu (not sure I spelled that correctly) and the Great Pyramids of Giza, Golden Gate Bridge and some other sets that have been on Ideas. I am still hoping for Taipei 101 myself at some point. The Petronas Towers would be nice, still hoping for the Marina Towers in Chicago, would be interesting to see if they could do a Grand Canyon or a Victoria Falls type of set. St Basil's Cathedral would be great as would Notre Dame if they ever do want to get into the great architecture of churches.

Great news to have two sets announced. With the large scale Statue of Liberty, not sure we need a mini version. I don't really consider it architecture, it's more of a sculptured monument and while yes, it needed architecture to create and all, I get that, but I wanted other buildings. There are so many that could have been and can be done. We have thrown about lists on this forum for many a year. I agree I hope this is just two regular sets and we still get a 10th anniversary set. TLG has to be the slowest press release folks around, I get the knock off concern, but seriously, the wheel turns very slowly.

Yeah it is frustrating, we know it contains Mandalay Bay so that is the hold up. However, last year, 3 skyline sets released on January 1, Guggenheim released April 1, Arc was released August 1 and finally the Lego House exclusive was in September...frustrating that we have 1 set only for 2018 so far. Jamie is too busy I guess on other stuff.

I am confused, it shows all the products out right now, only one for 2018 is Shanghai. Can you explain what you were trying to say?

Review: LEGO Architecture Capitol Records Tower
Herky replied to henrysunset's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Very nice set, true to the building, have seen it on visits to Los Angeles. Price is out of my range for a small set though, but thanks for the knowledge it is out there and the review.- 1 reply

I keep seeing different things as well, even here on this board it said LV for September and now we see June. I wish they would give an official announcement and if they aren't going to do LV, I wonder if there is one they could replace it with for the year. Be nice to have official information about more than just Shanghai. TLG is frustrating in that respect.

Any more word on what might be the 10th anniversary set? I also believe with these two sets, Lego is up to 41 sets counting both Sears/Willis Tower and the all purpose Studio set. I never got the Willis Tower set but wish I had now...I am not sure I consider the Studio set as part of this line so to speak since it is not really a building. I would guess the hardest one to get is Marina Bay Sands? Merry Christmas all

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Herky replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I wondered about that, and don't get me wrong, I like the diner, but a boxing ring and recording studio...anyone ever been to a diner with those two things on the upper floors? I think we are as close to jumping the shark on combining odd businesses as we can get. I want to tag along with Jamie when he researches these places. Too funny -
Any idea on what that 10th anniversary set might be? I hope it is a decent size set and a brand new set vs a bigger one of a previous set.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Herky replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
At this point, I just want TLG to post a calendar of when they will announce things. Then we will know when to check, nothing for today in the morning USA time. But they did just post a lot about the Taj on Monday when it went on sale, so I am not sure what to think about when the announcement will be made. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Herky replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Reading that last couple of pages...it is my understanding that Market Street was the first modular and it was AFOL designed by a guy named Erik Brok. It was sort of Ideas or CUUSOO before that was even a concept. It actually inspired the modular line. It was only meant to be a stand alone, not be followed by 10 years of modular sets. I could be wrong, but I think this was discussed about 185 or so pages back. I get why folks don't love it, but it was really the whole reason we have this thread to be honest. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

It would be interesting to see if the Rip Off Companies have gotten ahold of this picture and tried to put out a set on it. I have never looked at their offerings, but I can see it happening. Still waiting but I wonder if we see something official on Friday for an announcement.
