Just wondering why you rate 8258 so high, maybe because you like European trucks, but I dont see a lot of great features from it, except maybe the B model which I still havent got around to building (other than my 4wd pickup mod)

Buying Advice
Bricktrain replied to CRASH142's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
42030 I think is a great set in many ways, I enjoyed the build and its functions all work well. Being RC it is easy to play with as well. 8258 nice set but limited in what you can do with it, lacks a trailer or deck to load onto is motorised but manual operation of the controls and its a push pull model. 8285 another nice set very similar to 8258 but even harder to find. Great looks but also limited playability. -
Personally I think it is overrated, it is a nice model but doesnt really fit with other sets except maybe farm tractors (8284, 8063) the steering isnt great, but it does have pneumatics driven by a compressor (just like 8049 with the motor pack). It does however allow for a large variety of implements and accessories, so gives endless building possibilities if you want. For playability 42030 beats it as does 8043. It is still available in some stores.

Im glad I am not the only one getting these, EB seems to be the only website I am having trouble with.

Thanks. The room is actually a stage area of a hall where I live that I am currently using until I get my own storage sorted. The chassis is my crane I am still working on, hopefully will be finished in a few more months. I think I have the parts I need now, so just have to make everything fit and work. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=486168

For a set to go with 42009 then 42030 would be best, both construction type machines, 42030 is a fantastic set for working functions also. 9398 is a great functional set which would go with the car theme of 42000 but is a completely different style. 42008 is a smaller set which doesnt really fit with your others, just fits with mid size trucks and machines. Best feature of it is pneumatics, though limited in this style of model.

I just looked at the NZ 2014 2nd 1/2h catalogue and while the new sets release date is 1st Sept, I was surprised that the 42028 bulldozer is pictured as the B version, trencher. No pics at all of the A model dozer. Reminds me of 8274 tractor being marketed in the states as a dune buggy. Strange though because unless they have a different box, people wont recognise it on the shelves.

Thats news to me, mine has no problem, it was always advertised as a limited edition.

Could you please put a plane tail section coming out of the building, so we can see what the fuss is about. Great building, I would like to see an interior though.

I am not sure on that one but I do remember little shunters on some local sidings, private company owned. Yes. If you look closely you can see it thru the window

Does anyone know what happened to Locomotive Annie?
Bricktrain replied to Pizzareno's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Annie, and Alan Smith hasnt been around for ages. -
I have built it from the instructions (less the bucket) and the B model which I have modified and I will definitely buy the set when it arrives. It is definitely the most awesome technic construction set yet, you need to build it to appreciate the size and functions. There are a couple of minor things that can be improved but it is still fully remote controlled and functional. Much better than 8043, more in league with 8275, but bigger.

Thanks all. The bottom is the PF train motor, I have added 1x2 logs at each end to fill in the gaps to the buffers, the base is made up of plates, there is a gap in the middle to clear the top of the motor. Unfortunately I didnt have spare cow catcher buffers at present, might have to get some.

I have plenty of long haul locos but wanted a small shunter for the switchyard, not easy in PF to fit everything in a small package so managed to come up with this. Still waithing on a couple of windows but otherwise all done for now. http://www.brickshel...ty/p7190095.jpg http://www.brickshel...ty/p7190097.jpg
