What about limiting parts to only like 10-20 different ones and building something from them? -
Hypercar 2XV10
Zerobricks replied to Zerobricks's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I'm using two sequential gearboxes for each drive side. The first, bigger one switches between 0,8, 1, 1,25 and 1,67 gear ratio. The second, smaller gearbox switches between 1 to 2,78 on every second pass, giving a total of 8 different gears. The entire setup is axially duplicated and mirrored to form 4 axial gearboxes. After the gearboxes there's another double gearbox for drive and reverse. Drive is driven by the before mentioned gearboxes, but the reverse is driven from FWD only. -

Of course, I built a real-life muck-up and it works fine. I plan to start on the final version in a couple of days. Could you please elaborate on odd and even gears? -

The UTE may be coming back after I finish this one. A lot of my models actually start in such a way, I wanted to do something new that wasn't done before yet mechanically. Making a normal 8+R speed gearbox it's easy and boring IMO. I wanted the car to have extreme curves in the back, to give it a very aerodynamic look. The narrow width would also not be possible with a gearbox design from Chiron which is much wider. I will post the pictures of the build as it progresses. Regarding the bodywork, I will try to play with more angles and such, though the door shape is limited because I can't go any deeper towards the center. -
[WIP] Ute supercar
Zerobricks replied to Zerobricks's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I decided to change this project to a new one, more info here: -
It's been a long time since I made a supercar and I wanted to make something new and different, I have been looking into Chiron's gearbox and found a way to use a single wave selector to actuate two independent gearboxes, this is the 4 speed gearbox: I used a simillar technique to add another 2 speed gearbox, completing a double 8 speed gearbox: This is the heart of the car, two double gearboxes forming a double 8 speed gearbox. Now that I had 2 8 speed gearboxes, I decided to give the car 2 fake engines, each driven by the respective drive side - left wheels for left engine and right wheels for the right engine. The idea is for the completed model to have the following functions: double engine drive system with 2 8+R gearboxes with central differentials new type of a paddle shift gearbox pushrod suspension on all wheels motorized front suspension lifting function motorized rear spoiler spring operated gullwing doors openable engine cover openable trunk with This is the current progress: Right now I'm already at 2500 pieces and the model is far from finished. I expect the final number of pieces to be around 3500-4000 pieces, rivaling Chiron in part numbers, but beating it in functionality. It's one of the hardest builds I have taken upon, but so far I'm really proud of it. Of course, I'm also building several prototypes from real bricks in parallel to the digital model in order to improve on the design. More photos from the real build coming soon.

What about watercraft? Haven't seen any of those and the new 42105 in an awesome guideline. -

Sure wheels, but let competitors choose the tires. -

I think you do it small scale with the use of new wave selectors, etc. Or we could have a 1:8 or 1:10 supercar contest, like making a replica of any real car? -

How about small scale supercar competition, same scale as the Corvette, but with gearboxes, suspension, etc... -

[WIP] Ute supercar
Zerobricks replied to Zerobricks's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I will be resuming this project with a few changes: The model's drive and steering will not be motorized, but it will have motorized raisable suspension like 8297, winch and if possible foldable roof (cabrio). All wheel drive with 3 differentials Gearbox will be an 8+R speed with an additional 2 speed high and low selector giving a total of 16 gears + reverse. -

Wish I was so lucky - have some 60 kg of Lego :D -
Yes, you can power dumb motors PU to PF. But you can't control position of PU motors from PF.

These adapters are to power PF motors FROM PU and WEDO devices. Powering PU motors AND receiving their position information is NOT POSSIBLE with PF or any kind of a simple adaptor.

[Finished] Fox 8x8 V2
Zerobricks replied to Zerobricks's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I took the time today and found an awesome place to shoot some photos and a video of the finished model: Suspension range and flexibility is clearly demonstrated in this photo: Driving up a mossy hill stone: Scaling up the stairs: And of course here is the edited video: In the upcoming days I plan to finish the LDD file for those interested. All in all compared to the previous version from 2014 partially due to BuWizz bricks the V2 is: Some twice as faster Almost a kilogram lighter Narrower and shorter, way more compact Features improved suspension which has more travel and spreads the weight more equally Improved durabilty of the chassis as well as the cabin - flipping it doesn't damage anything To conclude as of now this is my best off road model so far!- 56 replies
