Wow, that's closer than I expected. Neat.

Looks great. But of course there is only one question that really matters: does it match scale with the Tower Bridge set?
-
One of each, except for the Detective's Office, which I don't own yet.

Well, there's 70 Euros I don't have to spend this year. What the hell, LEGO?

I built my set today. My copy features updated instructions and content and also uses a 2L axle instead of the pin. :)

Awesome.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Rapseflaps replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
The flower cart has a barrel with hidden cookies to go with the DO. Also, there's a year between this set and the next modular, so I don't think it's a clue. -
There's probably only room for one ship in each wave, so TLG would probably prefer to have a pirate ship out there first (understandably so, IMO). Hopefully a second wave of the new Pirates line corrects this. Otherwise, how are we supposed to have epic sea battles? And what kind of navy is this anyway, when all they have at their disposal are small row boats?

I don't mind the blue at all. After all, I have this on my shelf, too: No problems there.

And yet we have a modular Fire Brigade. Although it's been years since that came out. -

There will also likely be at least one floor between the ground floor and the roof. In front of the building, there will be a lamp post. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

It'll have a footprint of 32x32 studs and priced somewhere around 160 Euros. It'll be a building of some sort, featuring a piece count of over 2000 pieces. Minifigs are included. -

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

Hey, there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. It'd be a nice gesture if LEGO would sell these under the City banner, since homes and shops are, you know, what makes a city. But we're getting these buildings anyway, so nothing to complain about, really. :) -

That position has already been taken by the regular Creator sets. -

Gorgeous. I love how you incorporated the original Winter Village sets and expanded it to a great big town. It's such a wonderfully busy and bustling city. Love the mountain and the hidden details. And my favorite bit despite all the lovely architecture: the tire tracks in the snow. They really make it feel like a real place. Great job.

How do you display your modular building collection?
Rapseflaps replied to yanathin's topic in LEGO Town
Since last posting here, I've moved into a new home and my modulars came with me. They're displayed atop the book cases in the living room. There's currently eight of them and there's room for nine, so when 10246 arrives, one of them might have to make room (probably Market Street). The modulars will likely move upstairs temporarily to make room for the Winter Village. They'll be back in their current spot early next year. The eventual plan though, is to build a LEGO room in the attic, where I want to make a custom table to build a city layout on. Not much progress on the table, though. It'll take some planning and budgeting and I'll probably end up building it myself (which I suck at, so there's a challenge). The space is very limited, so I have to take into account the size of the layout I want to build (I want enough space to build a train loop, but those curves really do take up quite a bit of space), while at the same time being able to reach the far end of the table. Should be pretty cool when it's all done though. -
A lot has been said over the past 33 pages, but I'd still like to put in my two cents: I didn't have a lot of Pirates sets in the early nineties, but I always really liked them. I finally splurged on LEGO Pirate sets in 2010, when I picked up the entire 2009 line, as well as the gorgeous Imperial Flagship. Seeing the Pirates line replaced by Pirates of the Caribbean sets was a little sad, but understandable. There's no use for there being a LEGO Pirates theme alongside a very similar licensed theme at the same time. So when I heard LEGO Pirates was coming back in 2015, it was pretty exciting news. Unfortunately, this looks like a complete misfire. It's essentially a remake of the 2009 series and it doesn't look like they've improved much. Of course I'm saying this based on nothing but the box images, but it's about first impressions here and first impressions matter. These are small, compact playsets and the line lacks a good central play hub (although a good central hub was also missing from the 2009 line - we'll get to that later). The new pirate ship is basically the same as the previous one, but with different colors. Most of these sets look like they are aimed at the lower end of the age range printed on the box. The soldiers' fort is rediculously small. While I loved the 2009 line, it wasn't perfect. My main gripe would be the relatively small size of its fort and lack of small-to-medium-sized vessels. There were no ships in any size between the raft from Kraken Attackin' and the big ship from Brickbeard's Bounty. Any activity in the soldiers' fort with this big ship looked weird. Never mind making it the Imperial Flagship's port. Honestly, I'd love to see something like this: a small hub of land-locked activity with a smaller boat that fits with it. Or this: an actual fort that can be shut down (both the 2009 and the 2015 forts look pretty easy to storm - after all, neither has an actual inside). Some smaller boats would also be nice for assembling small fleets. These things could have been adressed in a second wave in 2009, but that never came. This new Pirates line was an opportunity to set these things straight and turn the Pirates theme back into a world-building theme of old. Unfortunately, judging by this first wave, LEGO has opted to go in the other direction instead: simple models, aimed at standalone playability. As of right now, this line is not worth spending my money on. I can see how, after LEGO Pirates has been off the market for almost five years, LEGO might want to reboot the series. Hopefully when and if a new wave arrives, they'll take the chance to expand this theme, rather than simply revisit it. The world of Pirates has almost limitless possibilities for expanding and world building and it would be sad to not see those possibilities explored.

This is great. Love the vintage stuff. I'm curious to see what's next. :)

Managed to pick this up using some VIP points. Also got the promotional winter skating set with it. Looks like the Winter Village will be complete this Christmas after all. :)

Looks like I'm holding off on 10245 until next year.
