  1. Chances are it's got something to do with the wheelie function.... This set definitely looks like the b model is a better looking set than the a model.
  2. This is an epic creation, the functions are really well executed. and it looks good as well
  3. Actually I don't think you can say anything is connected. Everyone would see something unique in a set. A police car has a blue brick and so does the airport. This is just like the modular building discussion each year were folk look for and find remote clues in each set which they think links that set to the next one. It's just one persons perspective and the chances of a link are slim. I can't see this going anywhere. Paul
  4. No free shipping in the UK...
  5. I'm really liking the dustcart, but I am concerned that it's like 10 wide at the widest point, the scale of some of these models is getting quite out of hand
  6. All the sets which were built on a pier were simply brilliant. Plus I used to like the way on your fire station set, the hose reel opened up, flip up the roof, open the doors and hinge down the reel. It was cool back in the day. I was always less impressed with the space tyres on the 4x4 included with that set. Those tyres always go oily to the touch now they are getting old.
  7. Ferry is alright, simple, but fills a gap and should hopefully not be too expensive, so getting a couple and you can have a regular ferry service... I like the dustcart as well, with it's front loading mechanism, matches nicely to the Orange cart from a couple of years ago Paul
  8. Set 6610 was my first set, although shortly afterwards, I got a few more small sets, post office, garage, and some space sets. but 6610 was my first, i still have it, but it's not exactly in mint condition….it got very well played with.
  9. Thats a nice house you have there. As much as I adore your passion for the brick…….I'm not convinced a bright red lampost out the front is what you house needs….. But I look forward to seeing how this progresses.
  10. I notice sometimes the collectable minifigs, the part where the legs join onto the hips, are often a little too loose, also the clutch power between the feet and the baseplate. They don't seem as good as the figures included in the sets. But then again, over the past few years, there have been several other pieces which have questionable quality in my opinion, The minifig seat for example, https://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=4079&name=Minifig,%20Utensil%20Seat%202%20x%202&category=%5BMinifig,%20Utensil%5D#T=C for the last 5 - 10 years (since the seat had the small dimple in the back of it), the clutch power to hold the figure in the seat is very poor. He easily falls out, I think this has improved in the past year, maybe they have a new mold now? Another part post 2000 which went downhill was the small lever http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=4592c02#T=C it had almost zero clutch power to hold it onto a plate, in comparison, the early versions of this part 1985 onwards, had so much clutch power, you almost could not get them off another brick. Again, post the last couple of years, it appears LEGO has sorted this out as well. I'm sure there are other examples where the quality of the bricks are sometimes iffy.
  11. I think it's only the Hard to Find sets that are an issue. Within 3 months of launch, Amazon or Argos in the UK have usually knocked 30% of the list price via some kind of special weekend promotion or 3 for 2 effort. I can only imagine similar offers are available over Europe and the USA with Amazon or TRU. But yes, with the cost of manufacturing reducing in general with factories in cheaper worldwide locations like Mexico/China and the cost of a barrel of oil being at an all time low, it's hard to see any reason other than, they can get away with raising the prices and people are still buying. I guess any commercial vernture is going to do this, the question is how high can they go before they loose/upset their loyal customers. I guess in the high street shops, MegaBloks is likely seen as their greatest competition, although we all know the difference in quality between the brands, toy shops often stock them side by side. It's when the parents who buy the majority of sets consider the price difference, this is when things might change. It was not long ago, that if you bought new bulk lego bricks, the average price was around £10 a Kilo. Now it's nearer £50 a kilo if your lucky. There are always some people who seem to have ways of aquiring bricks cheaper. but it's a great point you raise. Paul
  12. Great finish, if you knew no better that could be a genuine set.
  13. A tarmac laying machine. Although the moving parts would not really be able to do anything, so I can see it would be hard for a child to understand it's functions. Maybe then a road roller. I think there has only been a B or C model of one of these in the past. How about a car ferry? ramps up and down at each end……ok. I've answered my own thoughts on a car ferry….limited features,
  14. Really tidy build, and nice interior, love the way you have done the bunks inside the boat, with the turned back duvet covers. One tiny thing, you have trans red 1 x 1 tiles on the corners of the boat, I'd change the right hand ones of trans green if this exists, so they look like navigation lights. and the one on the top of the mast should be white (anchor light) but still these are minor things, it looks great!
  15. 7720 for a birthday/christmas present back in the day started my collection. Actually turns out I also had set 151 in a massive box of hand me down bricks I got given, but I've only more recently discovered this was what it was. My 7720 is in dire need of repair/rebuild. It's in one piece, but many of the old bricks are chewed (pre brick seperator) damaged, broken or faded. At some point I'll invest some time into fixing the old engine up.
  16. That blue is electric, really comes alive in the pictures. Nice job
  17. you should definately not have the following left over: 2 x 4 light grey tile, 1 x 4 light grey tile, 1 x 3 light grey tile, 1 x 2 light grey tile, 1 x 2 dark grey tile, 1 x 4 dark grey plate, Then I'm surprised you have a green 3 stem plant base left over, I think you should maybe only have 1 of the 3 4 leave yellow flowers left over, I could be wrong on this one. The other parts are common left overs, I'd look back through my instructions, 1 piece at a time comparing it to the finished model, checking whether you have used the piece each time it is required. This is the fun part of building. I always end up with a few left over on the big sets when I've skipped steps! Not a bad set, the pet shop.
  18. The most enjoyable part of that video was seeing some inside footage of various areas inside one of Lego's offices, really love how they have artwork up of their old sets from back in the day, and copies of the old sets on display, how awsome to see that airport monorail, almost a mint box! Love it, as for why they selected no sets this time, I can only imagine they have all their Lego Ideas engineers trying to work out how to fix the mess up made with WALL-E's rotating head!
  19. There is something mildly funny about this motor, branded Crouzet England Ltd, Brentford, Middlesex, and then made in France, Was the original UK Lego company not based in Middlesex? I seem to recall this from the old club magazines? Maybe they contracted out the mechanicals to a local vendor?
  20. Despite all the little fellas flaws, WALL-E does it for me. I'm still annoyed LEGO have not replaced my Ghostbusters Instruction Manual. They never really accepted they screwed up with glue in the spine on that one!
  21. In total there are 4 types, there is also all red wheels with red pin and the large red wheels used as used in 7750 Steam train. I remember seeing my High Speed Train, the red and black one, which was the first to have the red pin in my collection as a child. I doubt there was any special reason for the pin being red, they most likely had an overstock of the pin they wanted to use up.
  22. I want to get excited about 2016 Technic, but the first half is just such a disappointment from the prelim pics, I just have to keep remembering some of these are prelim, but to me they all look half finished, colour choices are out there more than I think we have likely seen before. Maybe when I see the finished boxes thinks will be better. Those tyres on the Dragster are good, can see it being popular for that reason.
  23. Both designs are great, as others have already said, the intergration of the PF wire into the design is very clever.
  24. I stayed in the Grand Pacific Palisades hotel next to the park back in 2001 with work, but unfortunately, I never made it into the park, I did get up early on my last day and walked over to the enterance at 6am in the morning, took a couple of pictures, but always gutted I've not made it back since. Thanks for the pictures One day Paul
  25. Not that I'm selfish, but I've already got my sets for Christmas put away ready for the big day ;-) It's obviously only going to be a couple of sets, which the national press no doubt help to promote causing the shortage.
