  1. yeah, I just looked back at my skip truck I made a few years ago, thinking it was really good, and now I've decided it's not as good as yours. I feel a contest coming on
  2. I was once told by one of the store employees, they are for safety reasons not aloud to put any small parts on the bottom row of bins (maybe the bottom 2 rows of bins) hence they fill them with 2 x 4 and large plates. I also suspect it is to make sure many of the kids badly pack their pots withs low value bricks, as I doubt they make much in the way of margin when AFOL's pack their pots.
  3. Lego House, it is very nice but it is cold…. lol
  4. Completed
  5. I have the feeling the minifigures are not selling like they were back with series 1. There is more competition in the blind poly bag market now for sure, plus I think the novelty has worn off for some people. There is obvisouly still a market, and I personally collect them, but at one stage I was buying a full box, now I'm down to just a set of figures and a couple of extras of my favourites. I am surprised the Mindstorms set is in the list, I guess the list is based on total revenue generated, and not units sold. Again this could be a reason why the minifigs do not feature.
  6. For me, it's those oversized sets Lego released in the City line a few years back, they were not bad sets in terms of there build, or looks, it just frustrated me the scale they would randomly release a set in.
  7. I use tilt bins, not cheap in any way, but they are practical for my needs, at some point when I've finished my build room, I'll put some pictures up.
  8. Such cool little designs, I once had a Bonsai tree, but the dog got hold of it and that was the end of that.
  9. err, yes it is. This is the average price new in box sets have sold for in the past 6 months. This is not the price people are asking, which I agree, can be outragious but equally, I can't see selling poly bags for £5 each is not going to make you a killing either. Not when you take your time into account. Maybe it's time to invest in stocks and shares or gold rather than Lego
  10. Althought the large set market might be watered down, it's still not bad if your happy to put them away and forget about them for 5 years. I still don't think you can go wrong with flagship Technic, Large Starwars sets and direct to customer sets. I try to buy the Technic flagships in 3 for 2 offers and I'm usually succesful, this allows me to build the A and B model for myself and 1 set to put away but it also means the buy price is 33% lower than RRP. I'll give you some examples of sets I've put away, there are not Mega profits to te made, but I can see somethings which are popular like Unimog, is not making big profits currently as the market is flooded. 3 x 10219 Maesrk Train - RRP £91.99 - Average Bricklink Price for New Set £175.28 1 x 8043 Excavator - RRP £142.99 (I paid around £105 in 3 for 2 at Tesco) - Average Bricklink Price for a New Set £293.30 1 x 8110 Unimog - RRP £154.99 (I paid £110 in 3 for 2 at Argos) - Average Bricklink Price for a New Set £164.16 2 x 8421 Mobile Crane - RRP £89.99 (I picked these up for only £45 when Argos sold them off) - Average Bricklink Price for a New Set £235.24 It's really a gamble, a time machine would have been handy to go back to the 80's and pick up those 12v train sets!
  11. Amazing built, I fear this makes the 2H Lego offering to be a little bit plain. My only question, how does the contents of the bucket wheel end up on the first conveyour belt in real life? does the buckets not dump the material being dug onto the ground?
  12. It's not my cup of tea at all, but I'm always amazed at the level of detail builders achieve with these compact builds. Nice job
  13. Currently my issue is not budget or time, it's storage space. I'm having to buy only the sets I can't afford to miss now. I'm getting to the stage where I have to store the sets broken down in poly bags otherwise I'm going to have to move house!
  14. If you can't identify it when it's in front of you, what chance have we got without a picture?
  15. What am I missing with the results? How is 79 points 3rd place but 78 points second place? Should these not be the other way around? or is this a typo? WINNERS 1. Fire Truck/Forklift - 553 Points (88 votes) Serhio (entry 5) 2. Snowblower/Tractor - 419 Points (78 votes) Thirdwigg (entry 3) 3. Manitou Telehandler/B807 Hot Rod - 382 Points (79 votes) erelender (entry 16)
  16. Can those Baby hands hold normal sized lego bar as well, the picture does not make this too clear?
  17. I've often contemplated whether my collection should be insured…..but and storage solutions are the big costs so far.
  18. I don't see a reason why to avoid compressed air using a compressor, I can believe the CO2 from a can of compressed air might cause the staining seen above, but i can't see how a compressor would not work, and they are pretty cheap as well now days. Always handy for pumping up the car tyres as well!
  19. Is that printed on the figures chest or a sticker? I'd certainly love to get one of these rare figures, looks like you had some real luck finding it in a bulk brick buy. That is very lucky!
  20. I wonder if it could be country specific? I know I've seen the accessory set of points packed in both styro and cardboard trays. Paul
  21. I think you've done a great job here, it has the fun playable aspect, but with many real life features, I was actually considering picking up a couple of this years City ferry, (when on Amazon Discount later in the year) to make a super sized ferry. I almost see hints of a Fabuland ferry in your design.
  22. I'm loving this set, might be my favourite of the 2H sets, those tires are just awesome! I so can see this set being like the Unimog with people making loads of farm attachments. It's a really good move by Lego I think. Will be interesting to see how easy it is to fully motorise drive and steering.
  23. I still can't get over the scale of this thing. I'm thinking ahead now, where on earth I'm going to store this (dust free)
  24. I'm one of those anti applying sticker people, but I appreciate some sets really do come to life once those stickers are added. Tweezers are the way ahead for precision placement
