Why is the HE not as liked as the other creator expert trains
paul_delahaye replied to Legoboy22's topic in LEGO Train Tech
I like it, I thought the build was quite good. I like the way they built the arrows in the side, yes Lego did try their luck to boost sales by you needing to purchae two, but I like the train. It was well made and whilst challenging, the designers left enough room to add PF for a twin motor setup with a pole reverser and lights, which most children would not add, but they left room for us to do this. I'm a little disappointed that these creator expert trains have dried up at the moment, when they sold off the HE in the discount bin on Shop at Home, I think most of us thought another Adult train was on the cards. 21309 NASA Apollo Saturn V (LEGO Ideas)

Is that printed tile 1 x 2 trans clear tile with the USA flag printed on it not an illegal attachment to the base plate? I thought Lego said jamming a brick between the studs was considered illegal in their "best practice" manual that circulated the web a few years ago? or maybe that was only illegal if it was a plate with studs used in this way, maybe a tile is excluded. Thinking back to the original red Lego technic tractor 851 from the late 70's and the right hand wheel arch, also used a plate in this manner. -
a beautiful model, just truely stunning and functional. I only wish I had the time and imagination to come up with something like this. I love to see annimation in lego displays, and this is just perfect.

yes, I'm sure I used one of the old ones inside my Horizon Express so it could have 2 motors in the engine, and this required one of the motors to have the pole reversed, without that option on the switch, it would not have worked. Well I think that is the last time I used it

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
paul_delahaye replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Having just watched Jamie B's video, I have to say I could have watched him talk about the history for an hour! felt there was so much more he could have told us all. Really looks like these buildings are here to stay. I need more room in my house! -
Maybe a silly question, but I find it hard to believe that no one when attending the toy fairs has picked up the boxes on the trade stand and looked at the pictures on the back of them, however I've just considered the reason could be that the boxes might be just moch-up and don't have anything on the back of them?
-
any sign of the instructions being made public for the Technic retro car advertised at the toy fairs? the one using three 2017 Technic Sets?

Before I realised it was a Lepin set, I was quite impressed with 23008, all it needed was a moffet forklift on the back end!

This is amazing, just epic, I love it, the detailing is crazy! Lovely final pic with Jake and Elwood walking away

So I know how we all hate unfounded speculation, and it's not the thread for speculation....... so sorry in advance for bringing this up. I had a good long conversation with my local toy shop manager today, they went up to the London toy show the other day and had a meeting with Lego, because it was press day, she said they were taken into the staff room on the stand to view some of the upcoming licnenced sets which were not allowed to be displayed on the press day, but then the following day they would be on the stand for all to see. We discussed the crazy Lego logic of this but my point is I'm 60%+ inclined to believe what she is telling me. She went onto say how she was having to place her orders for sets coming in the 2nd half of the year, in some cases without even seeing even a picture of the set, this combined with Lego expecting her to push a 10% increase on prices this year, it's a hard time to be a toy retailer. So the discussed moved onto Technic sets, and she told me apart from the three sets on display, there was to be another undisclosed set coming, on par with the BWE (unsure if she means scale, functions or what) but I'm not sure what to make of this, hence my concern of this being speculation, after all last year we did get to hear about the Porsche at the toy fair, so it is somewhat unlikely that a monster set is still coming this year, and then maybe she just meant the 6 wheeled monster truck, who knows. But I still live in hope that the 40th year will bring us something amazing to finish the year off with other that a small car made up of 3 seperate sets and a pile of left over parts.

yes, the tow truck is expensive, but why make such a mean looking truck, and then put the naff crane from the Claas on the back of it?

Lego 4002016 - Limited Edition Employee Gift
paul_delahaye replied to paul_delahaye's topic in LEGO Train Tech
That's what I thought at first, but then I noticed all 3 sets were inside an original Lego shipping carton, which was a perfect fit to hold 3 sets, so that made no sense, as they would not have the shipping carton, unless they had obtained all 3 sets at the same time. Maybe a manager who did not issue them to his employees? -
Appreciate it's prelim picture, but it appears every time they use those tyres on a model, it's at the cost of the crane arm on the back of the model. Again this looks like an afterthought, lets see what the final model looks like

Some of these sports sets sound like they could have some close ties with City theme as well. Wintersport SUV Wintersport Ski Lift Ski/Ice Rink Wintersport Challet

Do you ever have that moment...
paul_delahaye replied to 8-Bit Ramen's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I'm sorry but I can't help you find you missing set, but I can relate, I've lost my series 1 zombie minfigure and they are at least five times the original price now. -
Sets so nice you bought them twice (or more)
paul_delahaye replied to murphy_slaw's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I sometimes buy technic sets twice if I like the B model. The great vehicles sets in the City lineup also usually provide sets worth buying multiplie times, they tend to be good value for money, and have the ability to be MOD easily, -

Review | LEGO 60140 CITY ● BULLDOZER BREAK IN
paul_delahaye replied to Brick Ministry's topic in LEGO Town
I like it, tan crowbar, nice mini bulldozer, can live without the helicopter, but a good set. Can't make out what colour the facia is on the bank, is that Tan or some light yellow/lemon colour? -
I personally cannot see Lego jumping into a space theme until the Licence with Star Wars comes to an end. I think they would see this as a risk to confuse their market and potentially pull sales away from their most popular line. Castle however, definately some serious potential here for a 3 in 1 model.

Feels a bit of an afterthought to put the limited edition brick on the underside of the trailer, but then the entire trailer is a bit lacking and an afterthought in it's design. Feels a bit like trying to make the parts count match a price point.
