Technic General Discussion
zux replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
31030 set released this year contains both of them... -
Unfortunately, yes this is common. I think I have never received a single email about my order and it's status updates. Reading older topics I found it used to be different, but still not great. The best option for you would be to login to S@H and check the status of your order there.

[MOC] Race Car
zux replied to 9 fingers's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
There is a strong BMW feel looking at the front. Looks cool overall! I believe wheel covers or LBG wheels would improve looks a bit. -
[HELP] Question about tires
zux replied to Bob De Quatre's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
What's the weight of your MOC? Technic models tend to have some weight and tires do not collapse due to this. I believe you won't have any issues with one of two selected tires for your model. -
[HELP] 42009 Missing Parts
zux replied to PauloS's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Well, it is quite simple then. The parts you are missing are quite similar to the ones you have as extra. I see 4 of thin 3L beams and one 5L axle as extra in your pile (these shouldn't be here). So you would need to go through instructions and check each step containing one of the parts below and later compare with what you have actually used in your model. Same goes to 3L and 5L axles, but it would be a bit more harder to find I believe. -
Technic General Discussion

Yeah, there rest of the pieces are quite available now, but not the wheels and 4*4 dishes. That's why I've asked for cheap wheels, as you mentioned metallic pieces are now easy to get for cheap, which wasn't really true. -
Excellent MOC, like it a lot. Well, it makes sense to use that kind or parts as black bushes are quite expensive. Plus it is really unnoticeable.

So the contest has ended quite a while ago and I have received my copy of 42043 MB Arocs set (yay!) since I finished as a runner-up. Here's the photo with both my entry and Arocs MB 2015 - 2045 Arocs seems to a bit bigger while tyres and body width are the same.

[HELP] 42009 Missing Parts
zux replied to PauloS's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Yeah, most of the time when I have missing parts I have some other extra parts, that should not be left as such. It always turned to be a missed step or wrong parts were used. So instead of going and asking LEGO for missing pieces I would go and compare your model with building instructions. -

Where can I find more of those metallic wheels cheaply please? True, at least in Europe. You can look for the parts/condition/price you want. -

8285 is a tricky one. This set has multiple variations. Wheels only have three varieties: 10 metallic wheels, 6 metallic + 4 LBG, and 10 LBG. Having all 10 metallic wheels doesn't guarantee all other parts will be metallic, as my copy had LBG connectors used for exhaust. So if you are looking for full metallic version - keep your eyes open and check pictures if required parts are in desired colour. -
Seasoning sometime is sold in sealed ziplock bags. You need to cut it open and then can be easily re-sealed using ziplock. So no constrains here.

Third Party Crane Hooks
zux replied to nerdsforprez's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
DrJB, well I'm more of purist too, but like 3rd party items that improve LEGO - like tyres, Hi-technic sensors, pneumatic tubes, train tracks etc. I believe these are used to overcome one or another LEGO limitation or improve aesthetics, without actual part modifications. And then there is stuff that is improved by LEGO, like the Phiro, you mentioned which are developed to be compatible to LEGO and listing it as advantage. You can nail liftarm to a wall, but does it make wall more exciting in terms of LEGO? I think no. Don't think such items are taken seriously by fan community.- 29 replies

[MOC] MEGA Arm !

What's the point announcing a new MOC with no pictures? It is like "I made made it but you won't see it!"- 9 replies

How about giving a week or so in new year for A-model's deadline? -
Generic Contest Discussion
zux replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Yeah, A+B model contest looks great. And I'm too concerned about time as you would need to produce two models, instead of one. Please keep in mind festive season is approaching quickly as well. So at least several months is needed I believe. -

What if you switch the motor to rotate the opposite direction? I assume it will slow down in speed and increase the torque?- 17 replies

[MOD] 42029 Pickup Truck
zux replied to Rishab N's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Yes, front is greatly improved. Not sure if other changes are noticeable, but as you mentioned you have probably changed that Did you consider making front one-two-three studs longer? -
LEGO Technic or City
zux replied to Richard Dower's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Following your logic, any set containing basic brick or plate is City/Town/Creator set.
