LEGO Technic or City
zux replied to Richard Dower's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
These would be more close to Creator sets that use some Technic pieces. -
Yes, non-slotted pins is a different story. For two oldest Technic models I have (8880 and 8858) technic bricks have much more clutch power than in newer sets. The first time I actually came to stack newer bricks I was amazed how poor clutch is.

Sorry for bumping an old topic, I thought it would be better to ask here, rather than create new topic. 8421 is indeed a cool model, but has a cracking sticker issue. I would love to get some re-created. Buying overpriced original one is not an option - it would crack and peel again. I'm not looking to acquire aftermarket sticker as well (not worth). So I wonder if anyone has a better sticker scan than the one available on BrickOwl?

I think there was discussion about clutch power already. The outcome was that clutch increases with an age. Having bought few old sets (Technic) that I've missed during dark ages and I found that new sets are nowhere near to old sets.

It could be that address you wish your order to be shipped to had some issues in the past and it was blacklisted.

Misprints and Other LEGO Production Oddities

I would imagine mould is being assembled out of couple of pieces. And it could be that left and right sides are identical externally, so, let's say, two left sides were used from both sides of the mould. -
fred67, it has been re-released this year.

Soft axle stud length?

Isn't it more weird to create system close to 5/16 of an inch rather than using exact 8mm. -
When do stores usually get new catalogues?
zux replied to Bbrink1996's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Here in Lithuania it happens about a week or two before sets are actually set to be released officially. Electronic version of same catalogues for 2nd half year this year were found even a week or so earlier. -
Lego Technic Subaru Forester

Nice one. A bit out of proportion, but still recognizable and I like it. Wish it was powered by some RC motors!- 11 replies

Lego Technic 8858 Resurrection
zux replied to AOW's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The first difference is in instruction number found on cover page's left bottom corner. My copy, which is for earlier model has 877166. Instructions available across the web are for later version. The actual differences are in the rear suspension (difference is already visible on 1st page), where 2*2 plates are used and there's no space between 2 stud and 10 stud Technic bricks. Earlier version has 2*3 plate and a space between two mentioned Technic bricks. The are some other small changes in the rest of rear suspension setup. Next, clearly visible difference is in how Red Plate 1 x 6 with Toothed Ends is being attached. Earlier version uses 4 half pins - this is visible on the box and building instructions, while later version uses 4 axle pins and 4 bushes. As a matter of this changes, inventory for two versions differ slightly. You can check for exact pieces on BL inventory. I have spent some time with BL catalog admin to sort this question, as previous submissions were incorrect and confusing. Pieces for later version are listed as Alternate Items. -

Lego Technic 8858 Resurrection
zux replied to AOW's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Hi, please keep in mind there two slightly different inventories for this set if you check on BL. The copy I have is an earlier version, which is featured on a box and building instructions, but later version was changed and didn't get pictures updated! The copy I bought didn't even need a cleaning it was excellent condition. Good luck with resurrection! -
Hi, Well, it depends how accurate you want your 8043 to have. If you wish to have it 100% accurate, I'm afraid, cheapest option would be to buy set itself. Otherwise you would need to hunt for 3 pieces of 8109 set, just to get those rare #5 and #6 yellow panels (and some other parts as well). Another option would be to build it white as these parts are common. And yes, as mentioned above, try playing with Rebrickable - add some sets and check which pieces you are missing. pieces you still need can be easily obtained on Bricklink.

I like and dislike Technic UCS idea at the same time. While I hope it would be awesome, I'm afraid my wallet is not going to be very happy about additional spending to already quite high values. In case that UCS model will be at least good it is going to have a success on the market. We all know what happened to first SW UCS and Modulars, so reseller will make sure to stock on Technic UCS models.

Billund Airport 4000016 bad quality bricks

Ice cream silver Nice alternative name for Flat Silver [bL]. Yes, this color is not perfect, but it has an advantage of not losing a color when parts being used hard, like chromed pieces you mentioned. There is another cool metallic color - Metallic Silver [bL], which is much better in appearance than Flat Silver, but has some properties of chromed pieces... So you have to choice, sometimes, if you need coolness or durability.
