  1. That body/roll-cage is just gorgeous. It is simple yet complex at the same time, but looks very exiting and wonderful. I can imagine how the final product will look! Some solutions are new to me, I wouldn't imagine using them.
  2. Does this app can only use Dpad and Joystick on the controller? I cannot make buttons work for some reason. Or am I wrong assuming I could accelerate with one button and reverse with another?
  3. If you need to add just the pieces included into 42009 then you have to add 42009 as a set you own, not the individual parts. You can then chose between including these part in other MOC calculations or not.
  4. There's also Mars Exploration Rover (7471). It isn't branded as Technic, but it is a Technic-like model (like Racers).
  5. Modified second front module a bit: Well, I just recently started producing pictures on my own (had to rely on other people previously). So it takes time and practise to know how to do things properly. Making good videos is next step further. This means I don't have Youtube channel yet, maybe sometime next year.
  6. 8880 is a good example. I had assembled it once already got to know modern Technic (never had it as a kid). The size of instruction booklet explains a lot - it contains multiple parts per step, several steps per page as well as B-model instructions. Basically more stuff squeezed in smaller space. Modern sets, especially the ones you've mentioned, are quite advanced models, but even these contain many pages with just few parts added.
  7. And here comes M_longer ... That's an impressive MOC. I'd like to see the internals - it was probably a challenge to fit all the motors with functions.
  8. That's the problem with modern Technic - it gets simplistic and much easier to assemble due to "poor kids". Everyone here grew up with much more complex builds and instructions, while we were kids as well. Isn't 4 year old kid is "a bit" too young for Technic? I mean, he probably finished with Duplo not that long time and it is good time to start with some System/City stuff, which would help him getting to know new small pieces more. Technic sets are targeted to slightly older generation.
  9. Torsion bar suspension was good only "on paper" for my RSW model. While it worked as intended, overtime it lowered a bit. I suspect axle keeps twisting since it is constantly under "pressure". In my case I've reworked suspension to include shocks instead. So it is interesting to see how this is going to work for you as your model is significantly heavier.
  10. Knob gears are good for what they are designed for - transfer high torque at lower revolutions. However they produce significant friction and would wear at higher speeds. In such case bevel gears would be a better solution. But as always, every implementation depends on lots of factors. LEGO gears are known to require proper bracing (both ends of an axle should be placed firmly in a structure), otherwise at greater torque they would slip and produce this grinding noise.
  11. At the desk with gym ball instead of chair.
  12. It might be easier to use knob wheel on both axles
  13. Thanks for letting me know about Instagram. It was a nice surprise. I see there's demand for video. We have winter here, with snow and mud outdoors you know. So video will have to wait until I find a good place inside. Sorry about that.
  14. Welcome to unfair LEGO world. Yes, some basic parts have a wrong high price due to lack of these in new sets.
  15. Pre dark-ages: it turns out I had none. Even the largest set I had - 5590-1: Whirl and Wheel Super Truck - cost just $80 at that time. Post dark-age: first set that got me out DA - 8297 Off-Roader.
  16. Does it fly float? Jokes aside, I find this creation quite cool - we don't see u-boats that often. I wish torpedos would actual shoot using some spring loaded mechanism. Oh, and that bent 16L link
  17. 41999 is just different body on top of 9398 chassis with slight changes. You will need another M-motor and LED lights to have same PF features 41999 has.
  18. It has happened previously that LEGO reviewed the model while it was already in production and released slightly modified model. I had same case with 8858 model. My instructions were for an initial version while everything that was available on the internet is a later slightly changed version.
  19. Model has been designed with modular front piece - you can easily interchange them. Looking at other possible ways how 24116 panels could be used another version has been built. In this case it isn't that aggressive as initial version, but still has distinctive looks. And reminds me Japanese cars from early 90's for some reason. Here are some pics: Note 4 holes for attachments on bone-beam and two pins on each module used to connect together: Small additional spoiler has been added in the back also. Not sure why, but this model just asks me for MODs. Third front module is already in progress.
  20. Sure, stuff you need form Bricklink: L-motors Servo motor Battery box PF IR v2 receiver PF IR Controller This roughly would cost ~120 euro. Used 9398 would cost about 150-180 containing all the Power Function stuff AND many more extra parts. You could buy parts separately from shop.lego.com which would be roughly 90 euro, but with PF IR v1 receiver
  21. Both L-motor and Servo doesn't come in 8293. You have to buy them elsewhere (they cost quite a bit) or look to acquire 9398 set, which contains all the PF stuff you need. SBrick is not a LEGO piece, but you can substitute it with standard PF IR controller.
  22. While I don't really like home-made PF controllers this one looks great. And implementation is neat as well. I wish I had this one for MOCs controlled via PF IR, looks to be much easier to use with RC-like controller.
  23. Great model. Is it wider than its length? Looks a bit funny due to that
  24. Good work on hiding all the PF stuff! At first it didn't look like it could be motorised. The overall shape and proportions are on the spot too.
  25. Don't want to sound rude, but I think this submission couldn't be released as set (it looks very nice actually!) now that TLG holds BMW Motorcycles license.
