Technic Hall of Fame Discussion
Meatman replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Yeah, you're right. I thought at first he meant how much of a model had to be Technic for it to be considered Technic. -
Technic Hall of Fame Discussion
Meatman replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I remember reading awhile ago that some people didn't consider the Ferrari racers(8653 8145) Technic and they were almost 100% Technic. -
Flight using Lego
Meatman replied to anton1678's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I think everyone wants to see something actually liftoff from the ground. Not tossed into the air. If that were the case, then this video is also confirming flight.- 157 replies

I wouldn't consider that to be proof of legitimate flight.- 157 replies

The color red
Meatman replied to Blakbird's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I built this model and the front windshield is a tad bit flat IMO. -

Looks like this is shaping up to be a really great car! -
The color red
Meatman replied to Blakbird's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Surprised you didn't build the red American muscle car considering that you created the instructions for it. -

Great list. If Paul gets just one in, this is a definite. -
Ferrari 458 Spider
Meatman replied to Blakbird's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Ok, this is the brickshelf folder for this model. I knew I had seen it before. Hopefully we can get the new steering arms from the new custom pick up truck soon. People on Ebay want $10 each for them now. The brake calipers are a nice touch! I assume that they rotate around when the wheel rolls? I guess they would have to. -

What are those pieces in the front of the dash? Are those black flex axles? -
They probably would have been too short anyways. Looks like he used two 12 or 11L ones in the front.

I doubt the addition of power functions would have made this car any more spectacular that it already is. It is quite large(Looks to be around the same scale as Sheepo's Mustang) and it probably wouldn't be able to move fast enough to have fun with. There is a builder that went by the name "El Caracho" that built large scale technic/brick cars some years ago and he detailed his engines like this as well.

MOC Sharing Dilemma
Meatman replied to Cumulonimbus's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I can only imagine that you have some of the most amazing creations that no one has ever seen. Just kidding. Now if you do decide to ever share anything it will have to live up to the hype you created. -
[HELP] Legal Building Technique
Meatman replied to Kumbbl's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Couldn't you just pop them out from the other side with a pin or axle? Sometimes it is very difficult to separate two 1x2 plates that are clicked together. -

I never knew about the whole no more than one stud thing. It doesn't seem like it would hurt anything. -
I was experimenting with using the 1/2 bevels gears facing each other last night and while it is a neat concept, they don't seem to stay in place without some tweaking because they are offset in an odd way. I guess it is good in a pinch when you have no other alternative, but probably not something that is very reliable and like you said for anything that requires heavy torque. I didn't try the slim old 14 tooth gears as the only ones that I have are on my 8880. I am intrigued by this concept.

Alternative Parts for Soft Axles
Meatman replied to Sheepo's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Yes. Nothing available either with the needed soft axle sizes or connectors. -
Alternative Parts for Soft Axles
Meatman replied to Sheepo's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Ok, that is what I thought. So now you will also need another part to be used. I guess you and the other car guys are going to have to have to really start getting creative and not use them or not use as many of them. That is if you want to produce instructions. There is always those cheap Chinese knock off Ferrari sets of the 599 GTB. That one has many red soft axles in all sizes. With the insane prices on bricklink, I wouldn't be surprised to see parts from this making their way into the system. Quite the bargain here -
Alternative Parts for Soft Axles
Meatman replied to Sheepo's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Are we talking about the same hoses that the unimog uses? How do they fit inside? I guess they would fit into a round pin connector? -

How do you connect those pneumatic hoses to connectors though?
