  1. Hello, For my latest project I'm building a supercar bit by bit, building the separate components first before assembling them. Starting with the Carbon Fiber Monocoque Tub: This one was for a great part inspired by the McLaren MP4-12C chassis, that one is said to weigh less than 80 kilograms (). (And guess what, mine weighs even less! ) This one wil most likely undergo many changes in order to fit with, yet to build, components. I'm considering using a carbon "cage" instead of a "tub" for my car though. But I won't know for sure until I start on the bodywork. Next is the Driveline: A Twin Turbo 3.8L V8 with 7-speed dual clutch gearbox and kinetic energy recovery system (KERS). I used some pictures from the Laferrari engine as reference. Without the intake manifold (those black plugs are where the rear half axles connect to the gearbox). I'm very satisfied with this component, It fits barely in the engine bay behind the tub though but I guess that's how it is supposed to be. If there was room to spare they would have just fitted in a bigger engine . Since I had these nice Ferrari stickers I might as well make this a Ferrari engine . That's it for now, perhaps I'll finish the next component tomorrow.
  2. That is one awesome layout! And a very interesting building style for the ships. Keep up the good work!
  3. Very cartoon-like, not so sure of the pirate flags as cannon hatches (Although I did that myself a while ago )
  4. I'm not going to ask why the monkey have wigs ... Interesting combination of snotted and regular landscape.
  5. I have been working a new hull. Using the new hull type parts with a brick-built construction on the aft to serve as a worthy alternative for the old type hull. This took me a couple of hours to get it figured out, it might be a bit too complex. I think I'll look for a simpler construction. In the meantime, I need more supporters!
  6. My phone acted funny apparently but you can see most of it. It's not a window but A round brick and a tile. The slopes are attached to brackets on a 1x8 plate. This is my brown hull by the way but it's the same thing.
  7. Interior pictures:
  8. Well well, a red hull! My first thought was that it was a bit too much, all the red but I must say that it grows on me, it gives the ship something mystical. keep it up!
  9. Nicely done, it's hard to make out the colors, is that red or orange? Works well with the snotted tiles.
  10. Thanks a lot for the support . What do you mean by "inverted brown"? Ha, I'll be doing both anyway . Thanks, I'm looking for alternatives for these parts, I've made some brick-built sterns on the new hulls before (Beatrix, Raging Fire), nothing is truly impossible .
  11. My latest ship was created with the specific intention of making a LEGO Ideas project out of it. You might notice some major differences with my other ships (if you're familiar with those). Most notable is the lack of custom rigging on this ship. It's 100% LEGO parts, which is a requirement for an Ideas project. It takes 10000 supporter for a project to be considered to become an actual set and make it to the stores. I hope I can count on your support, it takes only little effort to support my model and it doesn't cost you a thing . Also keep in mind that over time changes will be made to improve the model, I highly value the opinions of a real pirate fan so don't hold back and share your constructive criticism. I'm sure some of you will recognize some similarities with the Red Beard Runner, such as the red hull and the general color scheme . I found that a red hull is in general not very popular amongst ship-builders but I can tell you that I've been working on a brown and a white variant, at the same time I will make an alternative with the new type of hull. I will post these later (still need to gather some parts for that). The sails were taken from the Skull's Eye Schooner and attached using technic ball pins and studded ropes. The crows nest was made using the same technique as I did years ago on my Flying Dutchman (which reached 10000 supporters as an Ideas project). Custom built cannons on deck. You can actually see through the skylight. The CMF pirate would make an excellent crew member. I seem to have lost my interior pictures. Hold on while I retrieve those. They are on the Ideas page if you can't wait though. If you feel like supporting just click any of the pictures, it will lead you right to the project page .
  12. An excellent replica, Instantly recognizable, well done!
  13. Update, I removed the Mercedes insignia to make it more brand neutral. I added some tiny details and tried a different color scheme. Thank you .
  14. The race car of the future :-) I originally built this for a ReBrick contest a while ago, now I'm trying to get supporters on LEGO Ideas. I hope you liked, C&C is appreciated. (Support for my Ideas project even more ;-))
  15. I chose the Elaborate option. It was indeed the Mardieran galleon El Grande resting below. What use silver cannon balls could possible have was still under discussion but in any case, the massive amount of silver alone was more than enough reason to set up a salvage operation. The Idea was simple, A couple of crewmen would go out on a sloop to lure the sharks away from the wreck. One of the guys had the Idea to mark the sharks with buoys by shooting arrows through their dorsal fin. That way we could see when a shark would return to the wreck. In the mean time the diving bell was prepared for submersion. You wouldn't believe the variety of things stuffed in the Raging Fire's hold. There wasn't much left of the El Grande, didn't look that 'grande' anymore. Salvaging the silver was a tough work, the best swimmers took turns diving down, pick up a cannon ball and drop it in a box which would be taken up from time to time. Even our captain took a dive. After a successful salvage operation the hold was loaded with silver. This was however not ideal for our actual quest, the Raging Fire became heavy and thus slower. This would make use more vulnerable to pirates and other potential threats at sea... The captain decided we should either sell or hide the silver somewhere safe before we proceed further north. While everyone was celebrating our haul, Captain Sebeus went to his cabin deciding on our next destination, a place to dispose of the silver perhaps... This might be 2 and a half builds
  16. Thanks for the nice comments, I actually built this at Maxim's, using his collection. Thanks but I already have a perfect ship for the role in the making (link).
  17. Prelude: There are rumors, rumors about the return of a legendary ghost ship. A ship long thought to be gone forever. The story begins in Trador, under the authority of Lord Maximilian Damaximus ( @Maxim I ). After some contributions to the Seabased city, Sebeus began preparing an expedition. Through the resources of Lord Maximilian information came into Sebeus hands. There has been a sighting, the Dreaded Flying Dutchman has been spotted, atleast that's what the rumors say. Nevertheless, it must be investigated. What is the impact of such ghostship on the naval activities? The tactical advantage of obtaining control over that ship, would that even be possible? But there are personal motives at play as well, what those are are yet to be revealed... Sebeus will set out with one of the fastest ships of Oleon's trading fleet, the Raging Fire, to investigate this matter, the quest for the Flying Dutchman... INDEX: Prelude Chapter 1: The silver of El Grande
  18. I found my way back into spaceships! (Last one I built was this little black thing long ago). In a way it's not so different from a classic sailing ship, what I'm more used to build. A YT-1300 Light Freighter repurposed and heavily modified in the hands of a gang of space pirates. The port side mandible was removed to allow a front-mounted cockpit . This increases the visibility for the pilot, which comes in handy when pursuing other spacecraft. The starboard mandible was enlarged to fit the added cloaking devices, enhanced radar systems, top-mounted quad turret and various sensors and transmitters. Some of the front top hull plates were replaced by solar panels, to serve as an additional power source. It powers the electro magnetic defense shields most of the time but the output can be redirected to the tractor beam or the hyper drive buffer battery. The technology is similar to that of the Twin Ion Engine fighters used by the Empire. Due to the excessive heat generated by the solar panels, the usable living space was reduced in that area. The container hook on the bow was removed along with the front leg of the landing gear, this allowed for more photovoltaic surface on the front hull. The rear hull plates were modified with adaptive hatches to provide better heat ventilation for the hyper drive. BB-type astromech droid units are docked in two top-side portholes. These will be deployed for in-flight operations to monitor the exterior and perform repairs. I hope you like it. My loot from Skaerbaek was very useful to build this . Because it had to be finished today (for the ReBrick contest) I did not have time to build a fitting crew but I might still do so later.
  19. Update: As I'm attending Skaerbaek coming weekend I need to have this ship presentable by then. Too bad I won't be able to get it completely finished . Completely new poop deck, now with a grim reaper over watching the ship (although I still need to swap Lady Liberty's head for a skull). I realize now I forgot to take a picture but I can tell you that I've managed to keep the Captain's quarters interior with the organ. And it's still accessible, although that will become more difficult when I add the shrouds and other rigging to the mizzen mast . Grates over the staircases. New battle tops. I think I've redone almost every part of the ship. Compared to the version I originally posted this is an almost entirely new ship . Still a lot of work, mainly on the rigging and the sails I will add one of these days. But there are some small things that need attention as well, such as the anchors, crying for a new design etc. Special thanks to Legostone for supplying some highly needed parts .
  20. Thanks, I was actually intending to strip the frigate again, due to the contest we rushed things and got this ship ready as fast as we could. I want to put some more detail in it and do some proper rigging (the rigging on it now was stolen from one of my previous ships). It will probably be one for next year.
  21. Nice scene, I thought I recognized something . I must tell you, bright yellow (or was it milky yellow?) is quite expensive, I was lucky enough to just get a bag for free .
  22. The tales all tell about captains brave enough to challenge larger and more heavily armed opponents. And succesfully defeat those opponents by witty tactics and superior maneuvering ... However, those are the tales. When you face reality, reality in the shape of an English frigate facing a French 64 gun battle ship that is, all kinds of heroics are reduced and everything becomes a simple equation taking into account the relevant numbers. A bold move of the English captain but a stupid one, one full broadside of the French 64 was enough to blast him back to reality. A cooperation with Captain Greenhair.
  23. More updates . I took on the prow, the beak, the jaws,... Davy Jones Crocodile machine! With the white fangs and teeth it is now more in accordance with the overal style of the ship. (see battle tops and balconies). I tried some skull designs but eventually I kept the standard minifig head one. The Flying Dutchman has a grim reaper hanging on the bowsprit, his scythe being integrated in the bowsprit and his ribcage forming the start of the spiky structure that is the prow. But that skull should be a bit bigger, like the size of a 2x2 brick, or even bigger. You can still see the front wall on this picture, I redesigned that as well, as you can see in the next picture: This remains a complicated area however, the new design doesn't look particularly better in my opinion. If it wasn't for those devastating triple guns this would have been much easier to build. I might have another try at this part.
  24. Hmm, I like them better this way, they seem more robust. If turned around they would look like the barrel would explode after one shot.
  25. Making progress . The dark tan log bricks are just temporary, a help for getting the poop deck right. I ran out of small plates so I'll have to make another order. I'm changing many things on this ship but still I think most people won't see the difference with the old version .
