I simply love everything about it, I'll be returning to this tread often .

The shrouds do get looser over time. Looking at some of my older ships they are still presentable. Deforming is mostly a problem during the installation, the horizontal ladder ropes are tricky to add without pulling the shrouds out of place. It takes a lot of practice but I do a better job each time. Actually I didn't initially plan to do such extensive rigging on this ship but it seemed like an excellent occasion to practice as I do have plans for a large battleship which I hope to start in August.

Thank you! They are not upside down but sideways, SNOTted on the hull. A 2x2 curved slope covers the studs on the bottom while two curved slope bricks take care of the top part. (I see the rigging is pulling the prow apart in this picture )

Probably the cheapest part on the ship (I think it was €1 per coil). This is what I used for the running rigging, I have a black coil as well, which I use for standing rigging. I am generally a purist but for the amounts of rope required to rig a ship it's simply ridiculous to be using LEGO standard rope.

Haha, I don't keep all those ships at the same time of course although I do have enough material for a decent fleet. The costs on this one is hard to tell, since I gathered parts for several years and most of them come from sets. Also, part prices change a lot over the years. But I am willing to spend some cash to get it the way I want .

Excellent display of this hull technique and good job on the rigging too, even a small ship like this benefits from some carefully fitted rigging, well done.

She sits low in the water, I like it. The curved stern windows are very catching, smooth. not too fond of the ladders for rigging, especially since she already has custom sails, might as well go all the way. Although I do admit that custom rigging is really a hassle and consumes way too much time . I'm digging that hull extension to make it a full hull.

Ah, you saw that? The rigging is a bit tight, maybe I should add some shroudlines on the top mast to fix that...

Ever since I got the Queen Anne's Revenge, which was almost 10 years ago, I've been wanting to build a dark brown hulled ship. I had to wait for various plates and slopes to become available in this former rare colour. Some dark brown jumpers would have made my life a whole lot easier but I managed without anyway. She's a barque although I did not fit any square sails, these might come later. This could very well be my 50th ship although I can't be sure because I lost my archive when Mocpages.com went down. At full capacity she runs 24 guns, a series of 12-pounders on the main deck and a few 3-pound swivel guns on the quarter. Something that may catch your attention, or better yet, not at all, is that she's not all that fancy. No galleries or ornaments and a pretty dull colour scheme. Yep, ships like that existed too and they were much greater in number. One might get the wrong impression that the fancy, decorated warship was the common one, looking through the Classis Pirates archive. On that note, a fancy decorated warship does look nicer on display. My main sources of inspiration where the Lady Washington and HMS Bounty. This might have been a fast merchant barque, however, a band of pirates found a better use for it... I've been wanting to use those zip line handles on the rigging for ages now, it took me a while to gather such an amount (there are 30 on this ship). I'm satisfied with the effect but It'd be cool to have those in brown or dark tan. The Harry Potter wands for tying the rigging was another experiment but not really a succes in my opinion. It's pretty tricky to find a good interface with the ship. I think I'll go for simple 3L bars with clip plates next time. Recycling swivel guns and capstan from an older ship... I mean, why change something if it works well? Hehe, I've been using that 12-pounder design for like, forever ... Same argument as above! Well, that was it for now. I might fit some square sails later although I have a lot of other projects going on, it will probably take a while before I give this ship some attention again. Jeez, so many MOC ships around nowadays, It's a challenge to stand out . A truck topic, Awesome! I'll just leave this here then. If you recognise the brand that means I'm doing it right . I'm usually more of a Model Team kind of MOCer but I did include some functionality into this one. The deadline is over three weeks, I hope to have it finished in time.

Back in 2015 I did a cooperative layout with a Danish friend in Kopenhagen. He had a tendency for wacky ships . I'd embed the images but it seems they exceed the 800x600 limit. You can see the layout on brickshelf here. His ships are the ones where the flags are backwards but they have many other features to distinguish them from my ships, which include; large snake heads on the bows, highly unusual color schemes. He didn't aim for historical accuracy.

Eventhough it has been a long time since I last posted a ship, just so you know, I haven't quit ship-building. In fact I have a fleet of WIPs laying about, I have the resources to complete them but alas, I suffer multiple dilemma's on which route to take with them... The small one on the left (the only one having a sail) was actually an entry in Captan Greenhairs' build off years ago but I never finished it. I didn't quite like the color scheme and the overall shape is off. The large dark red one in the back was planned to become a 64-gun battleship serving as successor of the Lucretia. She's large, heavily armed and a complete failure unfortunately, I should never have built a ship this big on a prefab hull. I will most likely dismantle her. Next we have the reddish brown and tan WIP ship, she is to become a sister ship for the HMS Marianne, they would look the same from afar but differ in the details. However I plundered most of its tan bricks for use in another project, there's no telling when I'll continue on that one. The white ship in the center is to be "La Beatrice", the successor of the Beatrix. I am however not happy with the beam to length ratio, she's too narrow, I will have to start over again I'm afraid. Moving on to the more interesting ones, the black hulk in the back was once supposed to become the famous Black Pearl, she's been laying around for forever. I have no intention to build a Black Pearl but this hull was designed for nothing else. One idea is to lengthen the hull on the aft, getting some proper shape in it and then use the material from the Lucretia to build a proper 64-gun battleship on a hull that can actually accommodate such armament. The green one on the right is an experiment I started a few years ago, using only some extra bricks I had laying around and didn't have a use for anyway (hence the green color). That one will be the prototype for a galleon I might or not might build. There are some issues with the building technique, until I find a way to solve these I will not spend the considerable amount of resources required to build a ship like this. The last one, the dark brown hulled ship in the front is currently the most likely to become an actual finished ship within a feasible timeframe. That one might actually hit the forum within a few weeks.

I was actually building my own version of the Razor Crest when I had this canopy idea. I decided to use the standard one for the Razor Crest though, leaving me this one to use on a new ship. I wanted to build something with lots of flaps, fins, vents and try out some of the tablescrap designs I had laying about. I'm not 100% happy with it but it was a great exercise in starship building, which I could use since I haven't build that many so far. Hope you like it.

Here you go: I may make my own tread for this. It kind of depends on how much more I will deviate from @Kozikyo86 's original model. I haven't started on the upper parts of the ship yet but right now I feel Kzikyo86's design for that part is spot on.

Well, as a matter of fact, Initially I just wanted to replicate your model to put it on my "not-by-me-MOC-shelf". As I think yours is the perfect compromise between manageable scale and accuracy to the real thing. But then I was bothered by that gap and began looking at some reference pictures from the series. After that I decided I didn't want a dark grey underside, had some issues with the rear landing gear pods and from one thing came another. There's not much of your original left in my model. But it did inspire me to eventually come up with my own design. Thank you for that! .

Great looking ship so far! I guess I'm a bit too late with this since you progressed this much already but I actually designed a better solution for the stern than what I had for my previous ships. this is the hull of "La Beatrice" (new version of the Beatrix) (Sorry for the bad quality of the image)

That is one fantastic model! If you don't mind some feedback, I might have a good solution for the gap between the curved part of the bow and the rest of the fuselage. I suppose though most people aren't bothered by that gap at all .

I am flattered that my work inspired you, to see that oldie again brings back memories. I'm surprised you even copied the smoke effect. I must say it feels somewhat awkward seeing a ship so similar to my own . Well done. (For the interested; reference ship can be found here: Technic Pirate Ship)

Hello, saw my name popping up . By all means, go ahead, although I must say that that ship is an oldie, my ship-building skills and attention to realism have evolved over time. I see there's a lot of room for improvement looking back at it .
