  1. Protecting a treasure fleet is no easy task, a valid strategy is to use a great number of small fast sloops to distract and exhaust large battle ships in order to give some space to the treasure carrying-ships. One of those sloops is the Dancing Ember, originally built in an Oleon Shipyard but for a time they have been going around different factions as well. Interesting fact; This sloop was built at Maxim's place, with his lego (that also explains why it eventually became an Eslandolan vessel ). Anyhow, I had fun building it and I must say it's one of my finest at this scale.
  2. This is a very interesting tread (adds to watchlist), kind of a study of pirate ship building techniques. And that WIP of yours looks very promising, keep that up!
  3. Aha, that would be the Elizabeth, one of my making : More pictures here . (Btw, some parts have changed since I posted this, like the stern windows)
  4. Appearently I've been up to something. The part about me is a bit exaggerated to say the least . The Beatrix on a killing rage, sounds terrifying. Nice post Maxim, don't worry I'll be back someday to set things right .
  5. Sebeus, Captain of the Beatrix, pride of the Oleon fleet, is relieved of said duty as his experience and tactical mind is more needed elsewhere. The new captain, Cédric Gerardi, fortunatly is quite the capable man as well, the Beatrix will be in good hands. Sebeus takes command over a much smaller vessel now, smaller but faster, flexibility is everything these days. But this small cutter really is only a means to get somewhere fast for now, there is a greater plan that will not be easely shared with third parties. A new adventure awaits... Cutters like these are being mass-produced on Lebellan, which is quite unique for these times. Original Idea was to launch a huge wave of vessels to cover as much ground as possible. However, the production start-up did take its time...
  6. Don't worry about that, the Lion and Dragon are quite universal symbols, Oleon uses them too (mostly the lion). More important for a sign is the prominent presence of the color blue Well, basically the ports of Oleon are open, Everyone playing by Oleons' laws is free to visit our ports. But if you're talking about a battleship flying the Corrington colors, crewed by corington military characters...Well, you may stumble upon some obstacles .
  7. Nicely done, It's a bit unlikely that the king himself would have written that letter but it probably was in his name. As you may know Oleon is known to have the most efficient cannon crews, in combination with these cannons we will truly be invincible .
  8. Welcome to the great and powerful kingdom of Oleon, Lan Bashere Due to the popularity of our wise king his name is quite popular among the citizens. (But it might for this game indeed be a bit confusing to use the same name ).
  9. It's nice to have some men from the 'old garde' (Tournament of Retribution). That cottage looks cozy, I'm guessing you have some story twist planned for the future .
  10. What an excellent batch of new Oleanders . To pick up on the trading topic, Every nation is active in trading, that is evident ofcourse, Oleon even has its own export products. The diference with Eslandola is that trading is not Oleons' main activity, Oleon's economy is fed primarily through colonization and conquest.
  11. That would be me and Yawgmoth, I'll send you a PM to discuss the details on that city .
  12. Captain Sebeus, the extravagant He began his career in the Royal Navy as an engineer, enrolled in finding technical sollutions for practical problems that battleships encounter far away from home. During an ambush he prooved to be a tactical genious and was promoted to an effective military rank. He currently holds command over the Beatrix, one of Oleons' fastest corvettes.
  13. I'll be attending and I'm bringing a large underwater diorama, a massive layout (covering a surface of 176x176 studs) filled with sealife, shipwrecks, submarines, etc. The sunken ship in my signature is only a part of it . Say hi when you see me.

Sure, that would allow other members to provide some input as well, I found this to be useful quite often.

I've been working on a digital version of the ship, like I said it's not complete, I didn't cover to full inner construction but it's definitely a bit more than what can be derived from the pictures. Brig_of_war_by_Sebeus.lxf (right-click, save as...) I would have to take apart a great deal of the ship to get to the bottom of it. I might do that but not today .

Thank you, It's always nice to hear that my work is appreciated . I only have a few WIP treads and you've probably seen all of them already, for my Brig of war I don't have one. I still have the ship intact (kind of atleast) so I may be able to halp you with some additional pictures. If I find time, I'll take it off the shelf and take some pictures showing more about the building constructions I used. I could also replicate part of it in LDD, it shouldn't be too much work. ALthough only part of it because that ship used the old type of hulls (which are not available in LDD).
  17. Well, I can't say I really expected the Flying Dutchman to make it through the review. In the end it certainly was worth it for me .
  18. Nicely done, you turned the QAR into a realistic ship. I like the lifeboat cranes, a lesser part might be the stern balcony, it looks a bit rough next to the smooth rest of the ship. Overall a massive improvement over the original QAR .
  19. I don't equip all of my ships with cannons, that's why everytime I show off one of my ships, it looks complete. But the truth is that I do not have enough cannons to arm all of them. I did by some additional cannons a while back though, I used bricklink then. Indeed, when I was buying parts for my corvette I only bought some pearl tinted cannon barrels and left the carriages because I found them to be too expensive. Perhaps someone can come up with a good carriage design that can fit the cannon barrels, so we don't need the expensive carriages anylonger .
  20. Mine are usually a bit basic but I do have some notable ones. The Carmen: HMS Marianne Beatrix: Interesting topic.
  21. Incredible hull, makes me want to try some digital building as well. Great job
  22. This is all very interesting, I really want to try this technique of yours in real bricks, I may end up building a rainbow warrior though, it's very hinge brick/ hinge plate -consuming . Thanks for the insight.

Time certainly flies, I remember buidling this ship as if it was yesterday . By all means, don't let that stop you, more ships with the white hull are more than welcome .
  24. Thanks, I indeed used some things I learned while building the Dutchman, that made it easier to focus on the details.
