  1. As I said on Flickr, brilliant modulars and very nice figs - but I'll add here that the red and tan house (awesome architectural details!) and the corner one with that stupendous dome are definitely my favorites!
  2. Beautiful build Fuzzy, loving the way you made the walls and pillars completely white, and left the doors, flag, and throne area to bring in a dash of color! Very nice crowd and floor design as well, and great use of that shell piece (?) behind the queen! A couple of things which I would suggest for future builds would be to tile the top of the build in white and give us an overview picture without any parts of the build cut off (well, that or make all the pictures all LEGO scenes...), and I also think that the red behind the queen could use a bit more in gold details - although, as I said, what you already have is quite cool! And now that I see your inspiration I would suggest some more gold accents and some chandeliers, but as you said that you don't have the pieces I guess that will have to wait! Great job, anyhow, and I'm definitely looking forward to more architectural builds from you!
  3. Sounds like it was miraculously fortunate indeed! Very funny story and scene, the ship completely full of water is quite hilarious! If they can float like that maybe they should start up a water trade!
  4. Aha, so more conspiracy against the Desert King going on here! I'm always for conspiracy against the Desert King! Really excellent build and very well-written story though - those windows in particular are superb! Incredibly awesome scroll(s) as well, great use of those parts, I might need to get some of those now!
  5. Very nice keep, Titus, and very reminiscent of SK's - which is definitely a good thing! Excellent wall texture and rock-work, the bridge is quite good as well!, and for doing that interior! The interior could be spiced up with a few more details though (maybe a table with some papers on it for them to be signing, and some other furniture and stuff), and the tan just clashes a bit with the dark gray path, which also, together with the rock-work, seems to overdo the dark colors on the landscape a bit. Maybe light gray, dark tan, dark flesh, burnt orange, or perhaps even brown would look better on the path here. That said, you've certainly been improving by leaps and bounds here! Regarding photography - what you really seem to need is more brightness (besides the smoother background SK suggested). The best way to get this is to take pictures outside on a cloudy day, but taking them in the shade on a sunny day, especially if there are a few clouds in the sky, works quite well too - and getting good pictures in the first place really cuts down on the post-photography work! Anyhow, if taking pictures outside is completely out of the question (or even if it isn't), and bit of increased brightness just in Photo Gallery or GIMP would help out a good deal!
  6. Another great build KB, love the stream and the fish jumping out, and the vegetation and minifig-posing are excellent as usual! As to the rock-work, that is really pretty much something you learn how to do by doing it over and over again! Here it could use a bunch of smaller slopes and cheese sloops, and as you'll notice, it looks best over by the front of the stream where you did just that! Also, usually - though not always - it's good to divide up more between the dark and light grey rocks, since it can look a bit jumbled otherwise, and you are using maybe a few too many wedge plates to get a smooth surface (rocks, although irregular, are generally found smooth in nature). However, you did hit upon one of the hardest ways to do rock-work right here - studs out and without a whole bunch of space up or down!
  7. Simply joining up with your sig-fig gets you the starting 25DBs It's if you build an introduction build and post it in the forum as a free build that you will get 10 extra DBs (it will count as your first free build of the month )
  8. Well, he shouldn't get on Wilkinson for not spelling his name correctly anymore if he can't spell it himself! Congrats on the opportunity to join the society anyhow!
  9. Brilliant ship, Captain Green Hair, awesome color-scheme, and fantastic work with the sails and rigging! Really a beautiful ship!
  10. Very funny story, JN, and excellent build as well! The cage and, well, the other cage, are great, and the cluttered office looks very nice as well - though I am wondering how the Mardierians ever find anything either! I do agree with Bregir that overall the exterior could use a few less studs, but very nice job for all that!
  11. Very nice build KB, the striped floor and Mardier symbol on the wall are superb, and great job with the judges bench and micro-ships are excellent as well!
  12. Beautiful build once again KB, excellent statue and really brilliant carriage as well! You've really nailed the minifig placement again too, and I don't want to know how much work that is! Great job with the unusual border shape, those larger cobblestones look superb, and the addition of the trees and flowers really finishes the build off, nicely complementing the colors from the crowd, uniforms, and carriage! My only very minor nitpick is that the squares holding the trees and flowers are a little to close to the border, and I think it would improve the build if there was at least enough space to walk around them without too much trouble - but you have really done an awesome job all around!
  13. Very nice ship and shipyard, Faladrin, and yes, that horrid yellow stripe looks way better in green! The rigging on your vessel looks quite good as well, looking forward to more pictures of that soon! And I can't blame that guy for preferring one of Felipe's apples to his job!
  14. Thanks guys! Erm, I thought that was the Eslandolan's motto - the Corries' was "just keep measuring it until you wear it down to the right size and then you won't have to cut at all!" Thanks Umbra! Thanks Captain Dee, glad you like it! I figured the loot in the sides would be a good Eslandolan detail! Thanks a lot Puvel! Thanks Captain Green Hair!
  15. Great way to take care of such a treacherous villain, Faladrin! Great build as well! A couple of my favorite parts are the door, and the straw mat on the floor! The inclusion of the skeleton pirate adds a good touch to the scene too, great job!
  16. Excellent outpost, Marcu, and even if there may be dozens of them this one does stand out! As others mentioned, the brown grass is really superb, and the well and palm trees are great as well! Good job on the house/outpost too, I particularly like the door and awning! And yes, just post a link in the Free Build Registration thread with your member name and guild!
  17. Excellent and very clean build, Mike S, great job on both the interior and exterior of the house (I'll agree with the others that the stairs and curtains are definitely some highlights!), and the stilts and walkways over the beach and mangrove trees are superb! Great job all around!
  18. Thanks a lot all! Glad to see that you all agree that the time put into this was worth it! (Not that I'm going to build another one this size for a while! ) Thanks blackdeathgr! That first picture took me a few days just to cut out, but it ended up being my favorite of the overall edits as well! Thanks a lot! Thanks Titus! Interiors all the way! Thanks kabel! Ha, ha, thanks Dr_Spock! Glad to make our Sea Rat friends happy! Ha, ha, I don't plan on it! Thanks a lot Bregir, brick-built hulls are some things I really like seeing (and building), and was definitely something I wanted to go for here! (Plus, I don't have any prefabs, really, so I didn't have much of a choice! ) The arches, as well as a bunch of other details here and there, were the results of pretty much completely depleting my supply of brown bricks - but, as often happens, running out of a certain piece can really make you think about the pieces you have left! Rigging, yes! All I have to say is that building is much easier and more fun! It's actually my first vessel at all since this (over three years ago!) I hope to build some more (smaller ones!) soon though! Good point about the cannons - next time I build a ship this large (not for a while, I assure you!) I'm planning on a privateer with portholes, along with the full interior - that is going to be a challenge! As Kai pointed out, it is actually much larger than it looks at first glance due to the extraordinary width (never! - Never try to build a LEGO ship like this that is 20 studs wide, btw! That deck was really terrible to build!), and is about 70 studs long excluding the small rear overhang and the bowsprit (If you look at the minifigs in the first pic especially you'll get a better sense of the size of this thing!) Thanks again for taking the time to comment so thoroughly on this, it is very much appreciated! Thanks a lot Kwatchi! Thanks Captain B! I noticed after getting it wrong a few times that it was actually a da instead of de, but ended up leaving it the same for consistency's sake! Custom hull, sails, cannon, etc. all the way! Thanks a lot KB! I hope to be rigging and doing interiors for all my ships in BoBS, but interiors might be pretty tough on smaller vessels! The slope hull developed as I kept running out of different slopes, but I was pretty pleased with how it turned out too! And thanks again, such praise from the LDD ship master is really something! Thanks a lot Maxim! Thank you, Elostirion, I'm very glad you liked it all!
  19. In case it was previously unclear, as with property licences, the leadership (the court having, as Bregir pointed out, has merely an advisory role in such cases) has the full power to deny an over-licenced vessel. So far it is certain that there has been some leeway and variation in each class, and that as such is a good thing - our goal is to give the builders and players, in this respect as in others, as much leeway and room for interpretation and creativity as possible (within reason, obviously!) Anyone "gaming the system" will be taken care of by the leadership, so if there is someone attempting to licence a rowboat as a 80 gun ship of the line, you don't need to be afraid of facing that fisherman in a battle! (In CelesA's words, "Look, Cap'in, there's another case 0 fishing boat!")
  20. Sorry to see you leaving, Windusky, but I hope you can be back before too long! Ha, ha, go right ahead! I am actually keeping mine built (at least for right now) too, and for pretty much the same reason (and that it doesn't use hardly any pieces)! Thanks Elostirion! That's what I was going for, so I'm really glad to hear it worked! I hope that we'll be seeing a lot of ships in this scale here in BoBS in stories and builds!
  21. Thanks Kai! I had the story in mind for quite a while and really built this just because of that, so I'm glad you enjoyed it! Thanks Mpyro! That's one of my favorite floor techniques as well! Thanks Bregir! And yes, fragile would be the word for this wall technique! About Eslandolan officials though - most certainly not! I'm sure it would have taken Corries way longer to just measure the stuff before they even started! Ha, ha, thanks Captain B, glad you liked it! Thanks a lot Elostirion! I thought I had mentioned it before (?!), but the chair is a modification of BrickOn's very cool armchair - and I'm actually surprised that the clock was such a hit! I really liked the bookshelf (which I had just used in a previous build) though, and it fit in here quite nicely! Thanks again!
  22. That pig cart is very cool, Ulfraut, as are your Kaliphlinian figs! The barrel of arms on the cart really look formidable - and heavy! - I'm wondering how fast they are actually going to be able to get anywhere! Excellent store phase 1!
  23. Excellent tower and great combination of all those techniques and styles, SK! The dark gray corners and those windows work very well, and the irregular border is really fantastic as well - great job!
  24. Ha, ha, I do feel sorry for the poor Colonel! Neat fort and great use of that baseplate Captain B! And now you're making me think I should have made the monkey mayor instead...
