  1. Welcome to Mitgardia, Ulfraut! And great use of that Nexo Knights' shield there!
  2. To Alberto de Pontelli Terreli, 23rd of April, 616 As mentioned earlier, your experiments in the area of using the phlogiston extracted from Oleonish wine to lift pieces of cloth with other various oddities of a round and brownish hue - in short, with coconuts - into the air, convinced me that your worthy self would make a most excellent mayor for the settlement of Pontelli - though, also, as mentioned previously, either Colonel Brickinson or some other person willing (or not) would be the one who would have to do all the work involved in the post. I give you, sir, my congratulations, and hope that you may have a long and prosperous life (at least as long as may be reasonably expected, given one with your own occupation), and that you will avoid blowing up (or down) more houses in the settlement than necessary for the pursuit of science. I sincerely hope that this letter reaches you in good health - in short, in a pre-poisoned, exploded, burst, or other uncomfortable condition, and that you will enjoy and make the most of your new and honorable position. Yours, E. T. Wilkinson de Chauncourtois Congrats to the new mayor of Pontelli, Alberto de Pontelli! (I wonder where he got such a name though... JK)
  3. Thanks guys! @KB, will this do (I do have some more pics of the other one I'll post before too long hopefully though!)? (Picture is the link again!) And congrats to Captain Braunsfeld and Alberto de Pontelli on your new post as the mayor of said settlement!
  4. The next morning Captain Whiffo and his first and second mate strode into the ship builders office again. "Sir," exclaimed the director, still elated by the events of the preceding evening, "there she be, ratlines and rigging tight, and all in all quite seaworthy!" "Haha!" replied the Captain, and, turning to the mates, he exclaimed, "prepare the crew by high tide, and we shall be off at once!" "Uh, Cap'in," replied the second mate, "you do know you've given us exactly five minutes?" "Pshaw!" responded the captain, "well, then make it five and a half. We're off to Pontelli, me hearties!" Five and a half minutes later the anchor was up, and the Henri sailed out into the uncharted waters of adventure. A few hours later, as the first watch went below, Captain Whiffo sent for his first mate in his cabin. "Mr. Bowditch, sir," he began, "as you can see, we be hear, and need to get somewhere over there to Pontelli." That was now taken care of. "Before we left, by the by," went on the Captain, "I went over to see Wilkinson, and he informed me that he had settled the whole mayor thing, and I have his letter to Alberto de Pontelli right here. Let's see," he cleared his throat. I sincerely hope that this letter reaches you in good health - in short, in a pre-poisoned, exploded, burst, or other uncomfortable condition, and that you will enjoy and make the most of your new and honorable position. Yours, E. T. Wilkinson de Chauncourtois "Well, well," continued the Captain, "there is a fine end to that business. That is all!" The second mate soon after came down and called on the Captain. "Compliments, sir," he declared, saluting, "the weather looks fine, sir, and Terreli has just faded astern." "Very well then sir," replied Captain Whiffo, "I shall go topside then and see what's up with that Oleon passenger guy." Meanwhile Myles had checked that all the cannon, powder, and balls were prepared for any time at which they might be needed. Pirates and other enemies (well, for all practical purposes they were pirates too...) swarmed the seas, and though the Henri could easily outrun most of the other ships east of Terraversa, it were always best to be prepared. Off they were to sea, at last, and to the Pontelli - the first mate smiled a bit as he thought of de Chauncourtois' letter, and though he likewise did hope that they would arrive to find the new mayor (well, soon to be, that is) in a pre-exploded state, it was undoubtedly just a tad eccentric to actually declare as much. The second mate: The interior: I was quite surprised to find how little interior room (comparatively speaking) there was in such a large-ish ship, but I tried to make the most of what I had! The cook: And a couple of unedited overview shots: The crew (well, most of the crew was actually below deck when I took the first pictures, and above when I took the interior shots, so they don't show up here - at least, that was the excuse they gave! ): It's finally ready! The Henri took a little over one month to build, and a little less than that to edit (I did have a lot of other things to do, btw!) A fast trading ship (I'm think Class 7 or 8F, but I won't be licencing it for a while yet), the Henri has a complete interior, an armament broadside of three 18 pounders, and a very exhausting amount of rigging! She is owned and commanded by Captain Whiffo, a high ranking member of the ETWC. Myles Bowditch (my sig-fig) is the first mate and navigator, and the second mate is the guy behind the wheel (if the story didn't make that clear!). The Henri was greatly inspired by the Putnam and Koen's awesome De Ruyer Frigate, which was a lot of help, especially with the rigging - which, by the way, I believe I only had to redo completely once, due to the wind (it was blowing a hurricane when I went out to take pictures!) blowing the white posterboard down on it from above (when I discovered the 17-18th century ships were apparently not rigged with such a possibilty in mind!) Thanks for viewing, C&C are always welcome!
  5. Awesome build, SK, the beetle and butterfly are particularly excellent, and the habitat for them is great as well! Congrats of the frontpage too!
  6. Ha, ha, thanks Capt Wolf! I'll let the director know about the dark red - it would make any Eslandolan's day! Thanks Alfadas! The clock and bookshelf were actually from a build I did for the MA earlier this week, but I liked them so much I used them again here! Thank BrickOn! Thanks Titus! Thanks kabel, and good point about the light! If I had realized it would come through that much I would have built a black backdrop to cover them up before (which is usually what I do with problems of this sort ), I'll keep that and your advice about the 1x4's in mind for next time! And boy, if I ever use this wall technique again I will make absolutely sure before taking pictures that there is really not a breath of wind outside! (Note to self - build more stable MOCs! ) Thanks KB! That (and the entire border, really) was actually one of my favorite bits as well! And hooray for money and riches and profit and shareholder value! And about that ship - editing the background out of fully rigged ships is almost as bad as rigging them in the first place! It's finally ready now though, so it should be up soon!
  7. Finally got another build up! (click on the picture to go to the topic) Also, here's a micro I built a few days ago - it's not for BoBS (at least not yet! - I might make it the nemesis of my captain sometime though! ), but since it's pirate I thought I'd share it here: Inspired by Blackdeathgr's MRCA result which had one of these hulls (probably the smallest ship possible with a prefab hull! ) with a black sail on it - and my experience building a larger ship really helped out with this one a lot!
  8. Yawn! The director of one of Terreli's best shipyards leaned back in his armchair and was drowsily fighting off an overwhelming sensation that sleep would, just then, be a highly desirable thing. However, just as he had really decided that there was no point fighting it any longer, the door burst open and another customer strode in. Siting up with an effort, the director observed an ETWC captain with a huge hat and quite a uniform standing before him. Humph. "Sir," exclaimed the Captain, "I must say that this is becoming absolutely ridiculous! Simply because I ordered the fastest ship yet to sail to the opposite side of the Sea of Storms is no reason whatsoever that it should take such an incredibly lengthy time to build it! Two months, I'll say! One to build the thing, and the other to go through whatever rest of the process you people do. I said on the double, sir! Absolutely ridiculous!" "I am quite sorry for the delay sir," replied the ship builder with affected meekness, "but I am afraid that, even on the double, there is no conceivable way such a vessel could be prepared in less than one month more. You know the saying," he looked up an grinned, "the tide and the ship builder hurry for no man." "I know nothing of the sort!" replied the Captain, "you made that saying up yourself but five seconds ago!" And with that he emptied a pile of gold coins onto the table. "Why in that case," replied the other, "In that case there shall be no problem whatever! Your ship shall be ready tomorrow!" "Eslandolan ship builders!" laughed the Captain on his way out, "Humph!" The clock and desk: Seems like I've finally got this started, phew! This was a quick and fun little build, but I hope to get that ship which I worked on for a lot longer up soon! Thanks for viewing, C&C are welcome!
  9. Very nice blacksmith shop, awesome roof and wall technique, and the armaments and furnace are excellent as well! The smoke coming out of the chimney and the pillow on which the sword rests are some great details too! I am afraid, however, that my sig-fig possesses an exactly identical sword!
  10. (I didn't meant for it to actually become our slogan - if we had one, it would probably be even longer though ) All I got out of that was GoH...
  11. Very well-written and intriguing story, VK-318, and very nice build as well! The grey slope of the shore with the small bits of vegetation is quite good, although I think adding a few tiles and maybe some more smaller angled plates to make it less regular would help Great execution of the icy water, and I'm looking forward to hearing more from your traveler!
  12. The King of Eslandola has now officially declared his unchallenged claim of the Island of Pigs, and has stipulated (in accord with several ingenious suggestions) that it should be named Isla Phillip in honor of that generous monarch (for whom King Fernando is said to be keeping his nightcap ready at hand in case of a visit)! For King, Country, Doubloons, Prosperity, Wealth, Trade, and Trade Companies!
  13. The crown of Eslandola lays claim (for a whole host of reasons which it is not necessary to enumerate), on Island #1, and hopes to soon see the pigs expelled (or turned into bacon...), and trade, doubloons, and general prosperity prospering! For King and Country and Prosperity and Doubloons and Trade Companies and etc., etc. And yes, the name shall be amended shortly!
  14. Awesome map Kai, love the colors here, and you really nailed the textures too! The compass(es), ship, anchor, and strings add a lot to this as well!
  15. Another beautiful build, KB, the ship and boat are excellent, but what really stands out is the pier and the cabin! The water still looks superb as well, and that and the trees and vegetation really complete the color-scheme of this build!
  16. Thanks guys! Thanks Full Plate! Getting the shield's interior to fit in was a bit of work (all those nasty half-plate offsets! ), but I'm quite happy with how it ended up! It was the idea of doing meaningful symbols and a motto which really made me want to do this build! Thanks LJ!
  17. Very neat and interesting little boat, the sails do look great once again, and I like that covering on the back!
  18. Very nice ship, Kaiju, awesome color-scheme and excellent shaping here, and those black sails look really great as well! My only piece of advice really would be to give it a bit more water at the sides, as there seems to be much more on the front and back Very great job here though!
  19. The hands come from a bunch of places, chiefly on alien stuff, but the scabbards came in quite a few POTC sets a few years ago (I wasn't/am not into POTC, but thankfully ended up with at least one in white anyhow! )
  20. Ha, ha, great minifig expressions once again, and the vegetation here looks even better than on you last! Those peppers are neat in particular!
  21. Great minifig posing and expressions, JN, and neat landscaping as well! Let's just hope there aren't any of those natives who are just too willing to serve visitors around too close!
  22. Very funny story and very nice build, Phadeout, the parts about italics and sistershipping were especially hilarious Neat scene as well, the minifig activity is great, and the little details like the pipe and the fireplace grate add a lot to the build!
  23. Lovely palace, Gideon, the facade really turned out spectacularly, and that all LEGO scene in particular is absolutely superb! The architectural details are fantastic, with the arch above the doors, the windows, and of course the fleur-de-lis design being some of my favorites! And yes, I at least noticed that you had built those extra windows for the scene shot, and the extra work certainly paid off!
  24. To the MCTC (at least that's what Kai told me to do )
