AoM: Barracks: Phase 2: Winter Survival
Garmadon replied to soccerkid6's topic in Guilds of Historica
Beautiful snow and rockwork (great job doing all the backside as well!), SK, and those trees, especially the large one, are really excellent! It took me quite a while to spot those two guys in there, the icicles are a great idea, and the photography gives it a very frigid and cold feel. Great work here!- 34 replies

We're Eslandolans! We've got to compete with each other in something or another! Well, the Henri is about 70 studs long excluding the bowsprit, but I had underestimated the length of your ship a little bit! I'll take that, though, thanks! What did I tell all you people! ETWC rules the waves just kidding... just wait for it ! Correct!

Thanks all! Thanks Kai! The borders on that floor technique are always a pain, but I was pretty happy with how it ended up here! About the gold, this is Eslandola, you know! The hanging papers, while I had had the idea in mind for a while, was just about the last thing I put in, and I really think it added a lot! Thanks Mpyromaxos! Thanks SK! I've enjoyed building for this storyline a lot! Thanks Captain B! I was quite surprised that the pictures turned out this well given the fact that the rain forced me to bite the bullet and take pics inside to get it up in time, which I really dislike doing. However, placing a mirror on the side the light was not coming from seemed to help very much, and they turned out about as good as usual! Thanks Titus! That was the first thing I built, so the rest is just there to house it! Just kidding... Ha, ha! Thanks Bregir, though that idea about the pit was definitely not what I was going for! Now that you've mentioned it it's hard to get out of my head though! Thanks again!

Oh right! Like we don't have an unlicenced ship that is larger than your largest! We're working on it, though, any day now the seas will be flooded with ETWC ships! Faction leaders may put troops on vessels (faction troops are only allowed on faction owned vessels, by the way - if anyone else would like troops on their ships they must pay to raise and upkeep them themselves) by informing Ska of their intention in that regard in the leadership subforum They support the crew in any boarding action (that is, they make the crew value of the vessel larger, so whenever the crew size is important, the troops will be of benefit). Since it does not add a whole lot to the overall power of the vessel, however, I can't really see any private individual going through the expense of raising and upkeeping troops for just that purpose. If that were to ever happen, that member would probably have to inform Ska of it through a PM.

Very powerful looking ship indeed! It's great to see some (more) pirate hunters appearing, and seeing that Jack Bain is there on the front, I don't suspect the Armina to stop at much when it encounters them! The cabin on the back and the color-scheme are particularly excellent! Very nice job!

No. I don't remove the background in any of my pics except for those I edit to place a different picture behind (e.g., the Henri) - for these the only post-photography editing I did was a little fix on the lighting/contrast, etc (straightening, cropping) where necessary. That's the advantage of taking pictures outdoors with a good background!- 780 replies

[ESL class 3T2] La Santa Catalina
Garmadon replied to Captain Green Hair's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Excellent lines on that hull, Captain Green Hair, and very effective use of jumpers there! I really like how you've built the entire hull as well, and the rigging and deck details are great as well! Any chance that we'll get to see her with sails soon? -

Thanks Captain B! It was just a largish sheet of light blue paper we (Kai, I believe) got for the purpose at Walmart (or rather, the branch of Walmart they have down here )- 780 replies

Thanks all! Thanks Captain B! I'm glad the forced perspective turned out to be such a hit! Thanks Titus! Thanks a lot Kai! Yes, the way the island turned out in the FP was probably my favorite part of this build! Thank you both! And you'll see what's up with the storyline soon! Ha, ha, ha! Thanks Kaiju! Thanks LJ, glad you like it! Those diamonds are definitely one of my favorite ways to make water!

Very daring use of color, but it is also quite well executed, Keter! Probably my favorite bit here is the minifigs, the way their color-schemes match with the roof/awning for some reason just looks superb! The plants and lamppost are very nice as well, and cobblestone and rowboat are just right too. Keep it up!

The Henri had dropped anchor in Pontelli some time before - plenty of time for Alberto da Pontelli, at least to have some rather noticeable experiments which quite justified de Chauncourtois' opinion to most of the crew - when Myles and Dirk (the second mate) discovered that a printer had set up shop in the town, and went in to take a look. They found that enterprising worthy working away furiously at his press - so much so, in fact, that his two apprentices found it rather difficult to keep up with him - and muttering a heap of things about fountains and journals and gold and fortune, about fortune and gold and journals and fountains - and so on. Dirk winked at the first mate with a grin and laughed, and Myles went down to see what was up with the eccentric printer. "My dear sir!" began the printer on seeing Myles in front of him, lifting up the sheet he had just removed from his press and trying to catch his breath, "Look at this! All of Nova Terra will soon be scrambling! Not to mention that it will be the making of my own fortune in selling all of these!" "Ha ha!" he went on, handing a sheet to Myles, "I knew that Rhys Thompson would be the making of me!" Myles glanced down at the paper. "The journal of Father Tholeau, and the Quest for the Fountain of Youth" ... A few more shots: The last part of the collab, but not of the storyline! Stay tuned for more soon! Thanks for viewing, C&C are welcome!

That version is better indeed! Very funny overall!

Thanks all! Thanks Titus! Those jumpers got in there partly because I didn't have enough 2x1s or 1x1 bricks with studs protruding in light gray, but I also really like the texture the underside of the jumpers give! Thanks Kai! I believe this is my first try at a palm tree of this sort, and I really liked how it turned out! And yes, I've got to get some use out of that awesome olive at least occasionally! Thanks a lot, LJ, it's one of my own favorites as well! Thanks SK! Those barrels were a lot of fun! We shall see! I'm curious to see where it will take yours! Thank you Phadeout! Thanks! I was thinking that the cobblestone was supposed to be actually laid in that design (and fairly new), hence the consistency... plus, I tend to prefer my builds more on the clean side generally! As to the rest, thanks again!

AoM shop phase 2: Ogelsvale market and blueberrie pie
Garmadon replied to Pvt13's topic in Guilds of Historica
Very nice build, Pvt! The cheese stand and well are quite neat, and the people running around fill out the scene very well! On the well, however, I think that having some 4x2 (or two 4x1) tiles or plates in the middle of each side on the bottom would make the exterior look a bit more rounded and better - but I do really like how you used the arches inside! Keep it up! -
Neat build, dathil, that wooden wall is indeed very nice, and the bridge and path are quite good as well! Looking forward to the next phases!

"Set course to engage the vessel!" bellowed Calrelli, pacing the deck of his ship furiously (he liked pacing, as you may have noticed). The coast of Nellisa, which Cato had just encircled before he had set out on his return voyage to Eslandola, had not yet faded astern, when the lookout had spotted a small speck on the horizon. Afraid lest some foreign explorer had found out Eslandola’s secret, Calrelli boldly set out to engage the vessel. Lifting his telescope to his eye again, Captain Calrelli squinted in surprise. It was his captain’s boat, empty except for some clothing and, aha! - a journal. On the 15th night of the journey, the priest of Zeus, Father Tholeau, had snuck inside the captain’s boat and lowered her to the sea. Once detached from the fleet, he had set sail in the small skiff. The crew had had no idea what had happened to the priest, but Calrelli had continued with his expedition without him. Here was the boat again - but there was no sign of Tholeau. Later, in his cabin, Calrelli perused the journal, and discovered that the priest had been obsessed with an ancient manuscript that stated that the Fountain of Youth lay on an island to the East of Halos. The journal detailed Tholeau's recent escapade and his discovery of three islands. On the third of those islands he found what he was looking for – the Fountain of Youth. Knowing he did not have enough supplies to try to follow Tholeau's poorly noted nautical directions, Calrelli reluctantly decided to return home to resupply. Unfortunately for him, Cato was caught by a hurricane on his way back, which wrecked him and his fleet on the shores of Terraversa, and, since then, he has been unable to get permission for another expedition. But! - More to come soon! The ship's rail is inspired (once again!) by awesome Koen's De Ruyter Frigate. Thanks for viewing, C&C are welcome!

Cato restlessly paced the courtyard, awaiting the coming of the Oleander priest with whom he was to meet up there. The deal was too good of a one to pass up, and taking a crazy Oleander priest on board could hardly get him into any trouble. Still, it was decidedly annoying to be kept waiting by someone of that sort. There, finally! The priest rounded the corner and came into view, producing the price for the passage - and a little extra - at the same time. He held a scroll in his other hand. All in all, that Oleander priest's was a rather mysterious personality, but Cato Calrelli was not one to ask too many questions if he was paid enough. "Bon voyage, sir," he exclaimed, taking the money, "and I hope that you - that is, of course, we - may have a prosperous voyage to Terra Nova!" An overview on blue: Built for- well, wait and see, for there's more to come soon! Thanks for viewing, C&C are welcome!

Welcome to Mitgardia, sir, and really cool cart you've got there! Looking forward to seeing your milk and cheese in the Mitgardian markets! (Wait, do we have any markets? I've never heard of them before )
