Lifting Spirits at Tragian's Stage
Garmadon replied to gedren_y's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Nice build, gedren_y, the vegetation is quite nice, but the thing that is really improved is definitely the photography! I've only got a couple of pieces of advice for you on that right now, which would be to try to get it a tad more sturdy as some of the pictures are a little blurry, but mostly I would say, try to keep in mind that most other people will be looking at it on a computer screen, as some of the angles look quite odd like this! A huge improvement overall though, keep it up!- 6 replies

[ESL-FB3] How to Steer (Comic)
Garmadon replied to Captain Braunsfeld's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Hilarious story and dialog, Captain B, and for once I actually like this kind of presentation! Great job on the Phlogisphere Ballhoverer, the black weights and the sextant are awesome details, and excellent incorporation of the flag as well - oh, and genius way to steer it, obviously!- 15 replies

Thanks a lot Puvel! Ha, ha! Perhaps Mr. Pontelli's recent, erhm, accidents, show why! Thanks Captain Dee! I was trying, as far as I could tell, to get the rigging and masts as accurate as possible - and I'm glad to hear that the hull works well! I'm afraid I'll have to come up with something different for smaller ships though, as I kind of doubt that a slope based hull would work too well on something much shorter. We'll see! Thanks again! Thanks, Silent Wolf! Interiors seem to be rather rare in LEGO ships (well, having done one myself now I can kind of see why! ), but I'd like to try and do them in all of my ships that it is possible for! About the brickbuilt cannons, next time I use the design I'll try to get a break down picture to share, thanks! Thanks SK! Glad you liked it!

Thanks all! Thanks a lot Titus, glad you like it so much! Thanks Fuzzy! The sails were actually way simpler than my last! I basically just figured out the approximate length I wanted the top and bottom of a sail to be, cut it out (I used a light tan parchment paper) with a bit of overlap in every direction, then folded the edges and hooked the top over the spars It may be a while before Whiffo and Nordau catch each other, but it certainly shall come about one of these fine days! Thanks Captain G! As soon as I saw Blackdeath's build I got to wondering why no one (including myself!) had thought of it before, when there was such an obvious hull for a micro ship! Thanks! Ha, ha, thanks Blackdeath! Go right ahead! Thank you! I'm really happy that everyone has enjoyed the micro-ship so much! I hope to see others (and myself!) trying out more different kinds of ships using the row-boat hull! Thanks a lot Kai, glad you like it! Thanks Capt. Wolf! I look forward to seeing what you come up with! Thanks MN! The rigging actually turned out being not very difficult - all the shrouds all go right under the hull and are tied back at the top on the other side, and then I tightened them more by adding the 2x1 tiles, and put some of the rounded boat hull pieces underneath to hold them in place. The whole thing turned out being quite stable - in fact, it's still on my desk right now! Thanks SK! I got a little carried away with the rigging (at least I hadn't had the rigging on the bowsprit planned, although in the end I think it added a lot), but at least I stopped myself before I started on some ratlines! And yes, that axe-head just worked perfectly there, thanks!

[OL-CF-A] The Poseidon Garden
Garmadon replied to Kolonialbeamter's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Stunningly awesome build, KB! Absolutely wonderful work with the garden fluer-de-lis, and the stairs (), carriage, and fountain are superb as well! Then the architecture on the wall, the cobblestone, and the minifig activity are brilliantly executed too, and the size of the build only adds to its impressiveness! Great technique with the lawn as well, I'll have to see when I can get my hands on a bunch of 1x1 green tiles now!- 20 replies

Excellent ship, Capt. Wolf, and it's awesome that you took the time to change it somewhat from its sistership! I have to say, I really do prefer it like this - the red sails were, to me, just a bit overpowering - and superb execution with the new sails, especially with the printing on them! The rigging you have adds a lot, and the curves of the hull are excellent as well! Great job here!

[ESL-FB2] Crawling from the Wreckage
Garmadon replied to Captain Braunsfeld's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
That monkey perched up top looks remarkably suspicious, and de Chauncourtois is not at all surprised at the occurrences, except for the part about the new mayor making it out in one piece - though he is happy about it even if he was surprised! On the build itself, great job showing the effects of the explosion, the flames and charred parts look great, and turning all the furniture topsy-turvy was an excellent idea! And then that smoke on the ceiling really sells the scene!- 10 replies

Lovely mansion, Capt. Wolf, excellent color-scheme, and great details with the - well, I was about to rattle off all the things you've put in here, but instead I'll just say, great job with all the architectural and other details you've put together here, they really work extremely well to make an awesome whole! The carriage and fountain are great additions too, and I always am a fan of seeing a bunch of different people's sig-figs in a build!

Monthly Free Build Registration Thread May 1st, 2016 to June 1st, 2016 What is this thread? This is the thread where YOU register your free build, besides submitting it via the webform. So, why are we doing this again? This thread is both an index of builds so that they may be easier to find for members, and a backup for the Economic Game System. As a back up of Free Builds and MRCA builds, we won't be using this thread for calculating your account. Please remember to submit the form for your Free Build or MRCA build. What do I need to do? Simply write the following information in a NEW post: Name of MOC linked to the thread | Name of Builder | Faction you belong to IE: Smuggler's Cove | Kai NRG | Eslandola Write no more. Note: All free builds must have their own thread, and there must be a link to that thread provided here. After you are finished making a thread, make sure to report your free build via the monthly webform so that you can get credit for it! Remember, if this build is going to have an Economic Game System component (IE you are going to buy a license and make money off the property) you will need to fill out either a Property License Form or a Ship License Form. Do not comment on builds in this thread, please do that on the MOC’s own thread. Can I just post in my faction thread and leave it at that? Um... No. Can I put up an entry for another faction member's build? If that builder has disappeared and we are getting near the end of the month, this would be allowed. What if I can't remember if a submitted a build? If you don't remember submitting a form, use the Free Build Entry List to find out what builds you've already submitted. An email will be sent containing a list of all builds submitted. Spelling is important. Is this just a copy of GoH's free build registration thread? No! I don't have any idea what made you think it is. The idea was a completely original one and has absolutely nothing to do with GoH's one. (Yes, actually it is ) Why does this look a lot like the previous ones? Because it is the same, that's why Previous Months: January's Free Build Registration Thread February's Free Build Registration Thread March's Free Build Registration Thread April's Free Build Registration Thread

Commanded by Captain Unrigged Nordau, the Buccaneer's Dread is one of the most avoided of all the ships that sail the Brick Seas. Captain Unrigged is also Captain Whiffo's number one nemesis, and both have been planning for longer than either of them can remember to hunt the other down. Without the sails: And, as per popular request, more pictures of my micro-ship! I plan to use Captain Unrigged Nordau (credit to one of my sisters - not Kai, btw - for the name) in my character's story, and the build was inspired by one of Blackdeathgr's MCRA results in which he used a sail on a rowboat hull. A couple of last pictures: Thanks for viewing, C&C are definitely welcome!

The Empire of Eslandola: Sign-up and Discussion
Garmadon replied to kabel's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Great builds guys, and way to close the month off with a bang, Capt. Wolf! Thanks Captain Dee! Due to the requests, I'll go ahead and make a topic for it pretty soon(ish), as I have a few more pictures I was planning on uploading anyways! And about the lantern - my younger brother (who likes his ships looking like this, which he built not too long ago) got on me for not having a lantern, Jolly Roger, or aftcastle on my larger ship, so I went ahead and included most of those here! So yes, Sir Stig is right that it is (partly) inspired by the Queen Anne's Revenge- 780 replies

Very nice build Kai, the extremely cluttered interior is superb, and you've peeked my curiosity with that story! Looking forward to more!
-
I was talking about the ownership, not the flags it sails (if it had any, they would be ETWC flags) - the only reason it didn't have any was because they would have been a bit complicated to attach, and because the tiny little things LEGO makes looked way to puny on it, haha!

Hilarious build and story (as usual!) Captain B, great job with the ball-hoverer, and, like Kai, I was cracked up by your saying that the cat was needed for balance! (Not that I doubt it, it's just hilarious anyways!) De Chauncourtois is convinced that this new invention will not tend to improve Alberto's survival probabilities though

Aha, alright! No, the ETWC is the trade company I am the leader of, but Captain B and a couple of less (non) active members are also part of it I, on the other hand, consist of just me!

Very nice job, Maxim! I just wanted to mention that the Henri is also a Class 5+ ship (you'll notice it's about twice as long as all the other Class 5 ships - excluding KB's, of course! ), and it is owned by Garmadon (me!) and not by the ETWC

Great ship, Dukesc! The bowsprit looks more reasonable on this one, and the color-scheme and rigging are excellent once again! The one thing that would really improve your builds' presentations though would be some better pictures, particularly trying to take them in good lighting (the best being outside in the shade) and turning off the flash!
-
Very nice fort with a very classic feel, Dukesc, the sloped edges really add a lot to this build! The white, yellow, and red color-scheme also looks great here, and the Oleander flag is an excellent detail!

[OL FB1] Master Luhhans Forge
Garmadon replied to robinnilsson403's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Very simple but also very dazzling roof technique here, Robinnilsson, and very nice color-scheme and shape on the exterior! The interior is pretty nice as well, but the second story could certainly stand some tiling (I would probably go for brown as a good way to complement the doors and roof), but overall very nice job! -
[OL - CF-A] Breshaun's Academy of Cartography
Garmadon replied to Capn Frank's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Very nice build, Phred, and great idea with the hinging interior like that! The exterior is excellent as well - the boardwalk, dome, and lanterns are great! - and that chandelier inside (only to mention one detail, it would take too long to name them all! ) is very good! -
Neat ship, the sail plan looks very nice, and the broadside and rigging are excellent as well! The bowsprit does look awfully long to me, but as I don't really know whether they work this long or not I'll leave that to those more experienced in shipping! Very nice job overall!
-
Awesome colors and textures, Kai, and that interior is superb as well! Love the hinging feature (I'll have to use that myself someday!), and my favorite detail here is probably your rack for the golden katanas, brilliant! @SK, I believe they are actually made using a technic piece with a few axle holes in it

[COR - FB LDD] Chief's Longhouse
Garmadon replied to SilentWolf's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Very nice longhouse indeed, the textures are excellent, and those flex-tubes over the top and the smoke add a lot to this build! Although the ground would be improved by a bit more texture, you've done a really good job overall!- 10 replies
