The balls go correctly to the inner side of the truck, the video was cut a little to 'short' sorry. It is possible to load 15 balls Inside,(3 small bins or one small and one large bin). The system parts at the extremity of the bed are just a litle more thick than the liftarm of the floor so that once the balls are Inside they canot go out except with the ejector of course. Globaly the compactor works pretty well and is reliable. On a base of 15 balls, only 2 needs to be 're-compacted' to go to the bed. The issue is that, on the sides, the balls are blocked by the rail of the ejector's blade during the loading process and fall down back in the compactor's recipient. But you just have to run the compator cycle once again and it's ok.

This is a classic issue.... All will work properly once you will have this stepper finished. You miss actually of the system that lock the central knob by 90°.

Thanks EriK. I must admit that your reasoning may appear pertinent. This WE we were on a display, my son ,I ,and our models. About 12 models exposed and given to all kind of peoples and children to play with. The conclusion of that all is that the model that gets the bigger interested in was TLG official Volvo excavator. And second the garbage truck.... Our mind are really formatted and it's really difficult, you are right on this point, to find out what could make a good set for the primary audience. sure I can! Just tell me what you are interested in...

my thought about that is more tricky.... It seems to me that TLC didn't appreciate the fan reaction about the Porsche project, witch is a great project btw. The main issue they get was that the technical choice they made due to quality and specific internal rules where not correctly understood by the community and I assume this has a severe influence on the set's sale. I think that the massive speculation and expectation place it at a much to high level to be reach in the TLC standards. I suppose this communication operation is made to explain all the choices they had to do before the project is on the public place in order to avoid bad surprise once officially released. I wouldn't be surprise if the present project was a little under all expectations and hope we can place in it...

[MOC] Sergeant JynErso's bike
steph77 replied to steph77's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
work still continue on this project. I wasn't satisfied with some issues and decided to modifie the model to merge the technic spirit to the Lego figure's one. Here is the result. They are: new exhaust design, new gearbox setup, new footrest. The engine as been decreased of 2 studs wide each side. Next to that I completely reinforce discreetly the frame and got this design: I modified the stands with a discreet 12T gear to deploy it The new exhaust is much more realistic I found, and only placed in one side to keep an assymetric design allowing a good seeing n the mechanical part of the gearbox's selector. and sorry for the picture's quality Wel, what do you think guys of these mods? -

Hi Clive, Really sorry for your leg. Hope you'll be back to health very soon. This said, yours progress in this build is very impressive. In comparison to the Claas I mean. Now you will have to face one more difficulty. The upper assembly is very high once build on your table... Anyway, if I had the 1/2 of your perseverance when building..... Good build man! -
I think that the seats of Paul's Deluxe supercar from 2006 would be ok for your car ;)

[MOC] Sergeant JynErso's bike
steph77 replied to steph77's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Thanks! We build forwards this afternoon with my son. The problem with this Moc is that it is in the in between of two different worlds. On one hand we have the universe of technic Mocs. And on the other hand we have the Lego action figure's world. As we where speaking about that my son asked me, for once, to go further on the action figure's road. So we do. the question we asked together were: where do the sergeant leave is gun on? what happened when no more fuel? At these question we pass our time to add some details like a cooling system, finishing on the boxer engine, a trap for the fuel tank and a rear mudguard who is also a kind of storage. Here is the result. we hope you will like it: Main view. Add the 40th year anniversary, rear view mirrors, an asymmetric cooling system. on this picture you also can see the treatment of the back part of the model Here we have improved the rear mudguard. we build it in gray to contrast with the main frame and keep a clear view of how it it's structurally build. we also improved lighting and the footrests. We also add a trap for refueling. Closer view of the back part. Lots of place to fix stuffs...BTW we also fix properly the engine's exhausts... We also find a black spring and cleanup the design of the gearbox selector. We also solved the issue with connector solidity at the back adding 1/2 liftarm in the traction zone Detail of the radiator... From the other side, the cooling system is connected to the engine.. Ok, here it is for today. Do not hesitate to tell us what you think about that build -
You takes the good decision to remove the gearbox i think. Design will be cleaner as well. Curious to see the next step ;)

[MOC] Sergeant JynErso's bike
steph77 replied to steph77's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Ok. It's done. Here is my Sergeant 's bike: I finally managed all the function i would insiside. There are some dissapointments at the end, we will see that under conclusion. First the design: a good badass design based on a massive engine, a lightweight frame and a functional 4 speeds sequential gearbox You can see on the previous picture the sequential mechanics. It is only able to pass the speeds in up, not down. This is a compromise i had to do to keep the design as light as i wanted. Two large exhaust pipes are place and the ergonomy is based on our Sergeant :) From the upper view you can clearly see the space i reserved for her The saddle is finished. I used as much Brown pièces i could ( i didn't have that much parts in this color) to match with the figure's color sheme I cleanup the engine 's design and you can see on the picture below the lever for the gearbox at left foot. The axle pass to the right side of the bike where a second lever is connected to a string going to the rear part of the engine. The string you can see it at the background of the picture. It makes one transversal axle rotate. The lever at the opposite is connected to a system that make rotate the red worm gear and do not make it rotate when going back to initial position. This implement one 90° rotation per step to the classical 4 speeds gearbox. The whole system use only one string (i know it would be better in black) And,...wait...isn't it our sergeant i see there? oww Ok sorry sorry sorry.... View from the top i try to add as much 'volume' i can in the all build The back view is still weird . Need a proper mudgard i think... Conclusion: a set to display. Not to play with. Why? I make one major error when designing this Moc. After let it to my son who played with it some issues happened. The main frame is NOT sturdy enough. I better had to build it based on liftarm, NOT withe simple connectors. As the design is better that way i didn't thought that the figure had to be installed and remove from the bike. This has for consequence the bike's structure is stressed a lot and ,sadly, parts come out particulary on the rear assembly. Whatever this was fun to build and the display is still good looking as it. @+ -
[MOC] Sergeant JynErso's bike

I think your are right on this. I search a good proportion to the engine and this is not easy due to e.g. the proportions of the figure. I am still not working on the mechanical part of the project actually but still trying to find one good badass design for it. Here is what it looks like actually. I think the engine design has to be more massive. and I need to find quickly now a solution for the gearbox lever... -
Hi everybody. As I was into the shop this midday I saw this set: This makes me think, even if it is a star wars figure, that this pretty girl needs a bike. A BIG bike...just like Lara Croft.... So I decided to build something different this time. And here is the result of this evening build: it is the first sketch of what the model will be, as usual. About everything is to be compacted and redesign, but this give a good idea of what is incoming. Tomorrow I will by the SW figure st to match the scale of both of them. All the ergonomic aspect of the bike will be calibrate based on the TLC figure I let my imagination do this evening, Motoguzzi inspiration mixed with old BMW/Harley frame....All is in the mix. I am pretty happy with what I came out. This give me the base and a vision for the next of the build: The main ideas are: A fully detailed enormous engine fitted into a lightweight frame and all terrain wheels. At this point I do not have any idea if I will realize back suspension or not for this model. maybe just a suspension for the Saddle ? It will have a gearbox, already sketched and installed. The sequential lever is still a question actually. I think to due to it's size, it must be realized here. I do think that this model will take me a lot of time to finished. It is a quiet unusual theme for me. But I like the challenge that it represent for me. Any comment or advice are welcome. To be continued...

Hi Paul, 11/10. Nothing to say but that this is great. For the coloring of the axle i also build using those colored parts as on my last truck. As i build with my son this is a pretty good way to visualized the functions and sort them into the model. Do not mind about people writing things on YT without having take the time to think about what they say. (I also had a that kind of comments). Again: great, neat, job.

[MOC] Porsche 918 Spyder
steph77 replied to starx's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Hi welcome here ;) Great design and clever choices you've made in the functions on that great model. Just one thing : did the steering wheel in cab turn the right way? looking at your video it seems to turn in the wrong way??? I just imagine the guy ridding this beast of 918 horse power who has to think left for going right . Except that this is a really good model. -
This is a great job you've done there. I'am working on an Airport and the thing that i wanted to spot about your creation is the fact that you capture perfectly the spirit on such material. This is immediatly recognizable for anyone who is familiar to that Equipment.

Thanks Jim for this great review. Great pictures too. My opinion about the prize is that it is not proportional to pièces count anymore but directly proportionnal to the final size of the model. My opinion is that TLC is making big sets accordinc to the idea ' So big So good' I think it's sad but they are marketing reason therefor. This i why IMHO it is important for us to continue building Mocs that show to everyone that it is possible to make more with less parts or less extra size. Again thanks for your time on this review Jim. @+

Hi looking at your build it seems to me that you don't have solved the major issue of this actuator setup. Actually the whole wheight of the boom apply a pression on the axle who make your mini turntable rotate.(at the level of the technic frame, the axle with the tan 20T gear and the connection with 12T gear on turntable). In my opinion there are no chance for this to work proprely due to friction, or you will encouter phenomenal losses of power at this point. I do not know the solution but it seems to me that the axle of articulation of the turntable and the axle of the rotation imput have to be two différents one. Even if it was, it will remain the issue of the friction at the level of the turntable. You still will loose lot of power at this point. Normaly you would have to inject the maximum power with minimal friction directly at the point where your mechanism of lifting has to take effect. In your case all the power do pass through 'hard points' in the structure that are stressed under wheight. At this point and even if this is a great setup idea i think that custon made actuator based on cables or worm gear would give way better results. I hope this can help you. Keep it up! Steph. Ps sorry for my English level, i hope it still understandable for you :) -

it is ok now for me! -
Thanks for comment ! I know my video is not the best editing one. I’ll try to make it again, shorter and more efficient. I have spendt the last day to optimize the rear compactor. I rebuild the rotation system of the blade so it’s now at the exterior of the compactor making more place in the space between the compactor and the back of the recipient. I design the compacting process around the lego friends and GBC balls. I’am actualy waiting my command from TLG for the balls and I’ll publish the result as soon I receive them. I redesign the bins also with differents colors and some other detail like rear of the truck once the dumpster is open. To be continued…
