  1. Thanks all. I was pleased with the way the cockpit windscreen section came out. It's still a bit blocky but I think it's closer to the movie cockpit than you can get with any of the standard lego windscreen parts. My design and parts use owes alot to Babalas Shipyards awesome dropship model below: I basically just expanded it from '4-wide' to '6 wide' so I can fit the pilots and the APC - and made a few other enhancements. Thanks. I did it by holding the model in front of the TV with black gloves on.. So it was a poor man's photoshop :). The background photo is from the burning man festival where they set fire to the effigy at the end (they really blow the megablocks out of that thing!)
  2. Scene from James Cameron's 1986 movie 'Aliens' So far I've only built the front section of the dropship plus the cargo hold which is big enough to carry a full size 14-wide Larry Lars APC. So I hope to take some shots of the APC on the ramp when I've finished the tail section of the model. In case any of you youngsters are wondering what 'Punch it Bishop' means, here's the scene from Aliens:
  3. These look fantastic. Please put me down for the Ripley and Gorman. (I'd buy the rest too but I already have your mark one versions of those characters!).
  4. Great moc. I particularly like the Saloon / Brothel. Although, I think using the sticker sheet for the wagon cover is taking the lego purist thing a bit too far :)
  5. Great. First one is my favourite. Like the colour combo and the use of the waiter's tray and musketeer's sword.
  6. Nice. Particularly like the moving ground in the first pic. Was that photoshopped or done 'in camera' by moving the ground during exposure? Also I have a question: What does a moc need to qualify as a 'Ma.K'. I thought it had to have one of those cylindrical 'dusty bin' type robots, with a dish top and corrugated tubes for arms???
  7. Thanks for the info. Nice part. I may have to get me some of them next time I bricklink.
  8. Very nice. But I don't recognise those grey electricity pylon pieces on the front: Are they from hero factory or something?
  9. Frank, that seems unlikely since Vincent's Eurobricks account hasn't been active since Oct 2009. He's probably entered his lego dark age. Maybe try again in 5 years time :)
  10. Very nice. I really like the lobby / foyer. And the fire safety is now much improved with 2 exits and 2 staircases. Nice job.
  11. I like the orc shoulder armor piece and the figs are OKish, but apart from that it's just 3 playsets with no recognisable building or structure. Just a mess of bits + minifigs. Here's hoping there's another UCS Orthanc style set in this wave - maybe Smaug on his treasure pile.
  12. @Elrond. Yes, if they could just make a Marty with a dark tan jacket he'd be perfect. @eurotrash. Thanks. I might try my hand at an Aliens dropship. There's alot of great dropship builds out there, but I think there's a gap in the market for a movie-accurate minifig-scale dropship that can accept a 14-wide Larry Lars APC - partly because it would be a metre long...... I may be some time :)
  13. Thanks guys. Yes, Burke is a hard character to make with standard parts: Needs a blue check shirt with dark tan sleeveless jacket. Closest I could find was that dark blue and tan combo from #76006 Iron Man sea port battle. Elrond, unfortunately it's hard to photograph the whole MOC since it's basically a solid 32x32 box with a hole for the camera and a bit of corridoor tacked on the side - so not much to look at from the outside. I think I covered most of the best views. But I'll see if I can take an overall shot in the daylight.
  14. Thanks guys. The lighting was tricky. In the movie the scene is mostly illuminated by red light only. But photo's look really flat and boring if you only use red light - so the trick is to have a red background and pick out the foreground details with white light. So much time was spent messing around with LED torches.
  15. A Lego rendition of the famous scene from James Cameron's 1986 movie 'Aliens'. ------------------------------ "They cut the power..... What do you mean 'they cut the power'? How can they cut the power? They're animals!" "Hudson, I want you and Vasquez walking the perimeter with motion trackers. We can't afford to let one of those b@stards in here" "I've got signals ... definitely inside the barricades. They're in here... There's movement all over the place!" "Vasquez? .... Hudson may be right". Get back to operations!! Seal the lock! "Signals clean. Range 20 meters....Six meters... five.. four... what the hell?" 16. Cool. I'll definitely be copying this since the humungous coach on the original looks pretty ridiculous. Also worth comparing this mod with KielDaMan's mod here : http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=82197 PS. Amazon UK have just discounted the set from the original £30 rip-off RRP to a much more reasonable £20. Good time to snap up a copy although I expect we'll see it at 50% off sometime in the future given the movie seems to have disappeared without a trace.
  17. Thanks everyone. All credit to Blacktron / Matthias for the awesome Aliens minifigs. I've got some more shots planned using this room as a movie set, but I wanted to post a nicely lit shot before the Aliens cut the power and the emergency red lighting kicks in ;)
  18. Really nice colours and details inside and out. I like the removable front for access too: Standard roof-off 16-wide modulars are very fiddly to access, so your removable facade is a great solution.

  20. Great ships. Are those inside-out tires on the 'Doomsday'? And the 'Pollux' has a nice Flash Gordon Mongo feel to it. Cool.
  21. Impressive. Looking forward to seeing the finished ship!
  22. Thanks for the positive comments everyone. I spent alot of time creating the flooded room effect then didn't show much of it in the photo's - so here it is without the spooky lighting:
  23. Thanks for the link. Great mecha. Like the hangar and the lighting too.
  24. Pls can you post an html link for those on iPads who can't run flash (I just see a black square). Thanks
  25. Nice review. I can see the appeal for the kids, but for me as an AFOL, all those huge single-use parts are a no-no. Because a) they're not much use for making anything else other than a plane, and b) difficult to store due to the large pieces.
