Great. Best lego depiction of a castle assault I've ever seen. The exploding wall looks fantastic - and the skeleton soldiers climbing up it. Great job.

Great work. It's greebletastic! And the Galaxy Squad Bug Obliterator could land there without clashing with the colour scheme ;)

Beautiful towers but it kinda bugs me that there's no way in: no door. Kind of an abstract architectural scupture I guess.

When I saw Erol's (aka Marcus Paul's) brilliant vintage speedster design here, I just had to make one for myself. Here's the result: Cups for lights: Genius! I just need to find me some chrome cups to replace my trans-clear ones.

MOC: Victorian Townhouse (San Francisco Style, 21w)
Missing Brick replied to ER0L's topic in LEGO Town
The town house looks great and I love the clean simple lines on the car: 6w and seats two abreast without them crunched up against the doors or visibly elevated on jumper plates. Awesome (unless that pic is with legs removed :)- 25 replies

Think I'd prefer a smaller/ cheaper set with just the carousel part. But I might be interested if it ever hits £50 after Christmas. £80 seems a bit steep.

Very nice. Like the kinky boots. Perhaps she could do with bigger wings and tail though.

Nice job. I also made a Cafe Corner interior so it's always interesting to see how other people tackle it. I like your hotel reception desk on the first floor. Nice touch. Some suggestions: To increase the floor space in the cafe it's possible to hollow out the space under the main stairs - add an arch into the cafe and put the kitchen in there. On the top floor it might be better to ditch the landing and just have the penthouse suite door open direct onto the stairs - and make the 2nd room an en-suite bathroom. This would also make it easier to access the rooms.

I'm happy the movie bombed if it means we get decent discounts on the LR Lego sets a bit earlier. The LOTR sets took 13 months to reach a decent 50% discount in the UK. Hopefully the LR sets will drop sooner. Maybe next spring - or possibly even some decent pre-Christmas discounts.

Nice MOC. Agreed the orcs need to be in disarray, with some fleeing in fear.

Awesome. I didn't realise those were trans-blue and throbbing until I saw the video. Wow! Great effect.

Yes, this part http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=6126 AFAIK it's still in production ( eg. being used as recently as the 2010 Prince of Persia sets) - (1p / 2c on Bricklink). Not to be confused with the useless pin-less version http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=6126b Funny story: First time I saw a pic showing the flame pieces clipped together I thought "that looks cool! I didn't know you could do that!". I then spent the next hour trying in vain to clip my 6126b flames together ( the ones without the base pins! ). It never occurred to me that lego would produce an 'updated' flame piece which is practically usless - having no pins for building larger flames. If you're using the big 2x3 LED bricks they fit quite nicely behind the ears - and have the advantage that they remain hidden even when viewing from a few degrees left/right and above the tower. No photoshop, it really looks like that. Apart from the LEDs behind the ears, I used an LED headtorch to uplight from below to bring out a few details on the tower surface, that's all. The cool shadows on the wall behind were pure luck.

I like the way you've made something so futuristic looking, using parts more normally found in a castle / medieval MOC. Nice work.

Starcraft Lego Battlecruiser Mk.II "Norad II"
Missing Brick replied to octavspot's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Very nice. Are the LED lights behind those turbines? That must cast some cool shadows. Just wondering where you got your lights from: Standard Lego or third party parts?- 20 replies

Sure, no problem. The trickiest part to identify was the soft axle (size 11) used for the gun turret rails: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=32199 I didn't even know that part existed before I saw Larry's model! Very cool, and it actually works : with a bit of wiggling and pulling you can slide the turret into its stowed position - just like in the movie. Other standout features are the sliding door and the small snot gun turret at the front. Larry kindly provided exploded views of those very clever designs - so fairly easy to copy. Happy to provide extra flickr pics if there are any parts you're unsure about.

Thanks guys. Those trans orange flame pieces look a bit rubbish in the daylight, but they really come alive when you shine a red LED on them in the dark. Thinking about the design: I should probably attempt to complete the black arc under the eye by adding some more black slopes. That would make it more movie accurate and also help to disguise my prop bar.

Thought I'd give my Orthanc a Barad-dur makeover: "I see you" Using lighting bricks from the Palantir and Orc Forge and about 70 flame pieces.

Great job Fabz. And congratulations on getting blogged by BrB!

Thanks guys. I got the idea for the forced perspective mixed scale shot from the 'Making of Aliens' documentary here: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=qUtxBM6KEXk about 5 minutes in. They used the same technique for the APC dustoff shot in the movie. (PS. It's worth watching the whole documentary from the beginning - it's great)

Awesome trucks Imvanya. I think you've made some significant improvements over Kraz's original dump truck with the use of new curved slope parts and better looking lights. However, the wheel base looks a little long to me. Easily reduced though. Great work.
