Awesome. And love the old school yellow lighting bricks on the underground station platform. Yay for old fashioned incandescent bulbs!

Great vehicles and pics. And some super door hinging! There must be a hell of alot of crime in that forest to require such a force!

Nice use of Santa's beard :)

A great scene. Beautifully rendered.

Very nice. I'm trying to imagine what would happen if you pushed it along. I think the piston would make the yellow steam collector bobble up and down in an amusing way.

"They must have found another way in. Something we missed"
Missing Brick replied to Missing Brick's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Ripley = Indiana Jones brown jacket + Frodo hair, partially off the stud (It's funny, if you push the hair down she immediately becomes Frodo, but off the stud it's a pretty good likeness to Sigourney's curly hairdo from Aliens). -

Just checked. His hair's fully on. It's just the uplighting revealing the curve of his forehead. I did notice he has some dandruff though. That sleepyhead hair's been sitting on the display shelf too long. I'll give him a once over with the toothbrush before his next big scene. -

Thanks. Yes, I have some more shots in the works. This is a small part of a larger scene which I'm in the process of shooting. I'm hoping to recreate one of the most memorable sequences from the movie, but I can only shoot at night, so it takes a while. -
Hudson: Signal's clean. Range, 20 meters. Ripley: They've found a way in, something we've missed. Hudson: 17 meters. Ripley: Something under the floor, not in the plans, I don't know. Hudson: 15 meters. Hicks: Definitely inside the barricades. Hudson: 12 meters. 9 meters. 7. 6. Ripley: That can't be; that's inside the room. Hudson: 5 meters, man. 4. MOCs: Victorian Railways rollingstock
Missing Brick replied to scruffulous's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Ooooh. I love the wooden planking effect on the guard's van. Awesome. -
Nice industrial buildings and an impressive collection of grey bricks. 40 grill plates? I'm jealous.

Beautiful. The roof and rock work are fantastic. The scale is awesome. Does it have an interior? My only improvement suggestions would be to add some more detail to the square LBG masonary plinth: Perhaps some more rocks or shrubs to break up that square facade. Maybe slightly fewer gold fences/grid decorations on the front. The viking snake tile would be a good alternative for some variety: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=2431pb043

MOC: VW Camper in minifig scale + hippie version!
Missing Brick replied to Skrytsson's topic in LEGO Town
Great snot! Fantastic job capturing those VW lines. Looks like the wheels might be a bit too snug to turn - but when it looks that good, who cares. -

Looks fantastic but could do with some stairs :)- 30 replies

That's a great prawn suit. Looks ready to splat some minifigs all over the camera lens with those rail guns. Only improvement suggestion would be to make the head and mandibles protrude a little further forward.

Great technique and clear explanation. Thanks.

Good comment Glen - I replied on your blog since this is getting off-topic. Goto, this is a thread for discussing FTL, so put away the flame thrower and take a chill pill. PS. Love your Apple Store project.

Thanks for the reply N13OS. I didn't know you were an FTL designer. My comment was intended as a criticism of the Cuusoo system and obscure computer game tie-ins. It was not meant as a criticism of your designs. Congrats on reaching 10K supporters and goodluck with the next steps in the process.

-N13OS- Sorry if my sarcasm offended you. My point is that, like the Minecraft sets, these seem to have limited appeal to those who haven't played the game. I was hoping that Cuusoo would produce lots of interesting AFOL sets we could all enjoy, but increasingly it seems to be dominated by niche interest groups who muster support from outside the existing Lego fan community. Eg. from the FTL page: > "Given the expansive fan base of FTL, the required 10,000 supporters should be easy to acquire .. > but only if you can help us get the word out. > > Tell every FTL fan you know > Post in relevant forums > Send "Tip" emails to relevant gaming sites, for instance: Penny-Arcade, Joystiq, and Kotaku > Tweet your followers and send direct tweets to gaming personalities" This is great marketing from TLG's perspective - introducing new people to Lego - but not so great for existing Lego fans who might prefer sets with wider appeal which achieve 10K on their own merits. Anyway, this is a discussion forum, so please feel free to explain why you particularly like the sets and think they're cool. Maybe you can win me over to them. Edit: I see you were part of the FTL team. Congratulations on reaching 10K !

Great, just what we need: another cuusoo project based on an obscure computer game that very few have played and with very little appeal to those who haven't.

Beautiful MOC. I grabbed a handful of olive cheeses last time I visited my Lego store pick-a-brick wall. Now I'm wishing I'd grabbed a whole cup full.

It depends on the size of your MOC. I figure the largest size I'm ever likely to make would be 96x96 studs. So an army of 100 figs is more than enough. Say each MF requires an average of 4x4 studs to pose = about 20% of the surface area of a 96x96 MOC. That sounds about right: You've got to have some room for buildings and landscape. I'm also of the opinion that a few well posed minifigs, each doing something unique, are more interesting to look at than massed ranks of identically posed figs.

REVIEW: 71002 LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 11
Missing Brick replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Thanks for the great review Whitefang. Some great figs in this series. But the unbalanced distribution does piss me off. The decision to feature only 2 per box of some of the most desirable figs is clearly an attempt to boost sales (cos alot of parents just adopt the lucky dip approach to buying them). For bag ruslers like myself it just means we have to stand in the shop for an hour searching thru entire boxes for the fig we need - without any guarantee of finding it since the two may have already been taken.- 117 replies

Nice little vignette Nightstalker. Couple of tips on getting the best from your camera: 1) Your camera should have a manual exposure setting which might appear as +-0 in the menu. If you increase that to +1 or +2 it will open the shutter for longer so you'll get a brighter image. 2) You will need to have your camera mounted on a mini-tripod (or a pile of books) to hold it absolutely still during exposure. 3) You will also need to use the self timer to trigger the shutter so you don't accidentally jog the camera by pressing the button during exposure. 4) For extreme closeups it may improve the focus to select the camera's 'macro' mode (usually a flower symbol). I hope this helps. Brick on!
