  1. Some things are simply to large and heavy to leave dangling freely! TIGHTS FOREVAH!!! ;)
  2. Creepy, but awesome! It is good to see that the Aslanic faith can shine a little light on the dark, barbaric Nocturnians.... (Pweeeeeeease don't kill me @_@)
  3. Hi SarahJoy - as I wrote to someone else, don't get too stressed about getting builds up - take your time and remember that it is a creative process, not a factory! Nobody is pacing you! (Except for the fact that I am really, really REALLY (Spaceship!?) looking forward to seeing more of Ruadh!! ) Put up builds in your own time, when you feel ready to present them or have feedback. For one, I think the stonework landscape thingy is looking rather nice - but if it is holding you back from something you would rather build, I suggest you put it aside for a while and turn to the other build - That's what works best for me - I normally have a number of "drafts" under construction at any time
  4. Welcome to the most awesomenest, and magnificent Guild of them all! (Don't listen to talks of snow, sticky oil or pumpkin pies - the other Guilds will try to sweettalk you into their deceptive webs! ) You more or less got it right - anything that isn't a challenge entry of some sort is a freebuild, which means that any build related to any of the Avalonian tasks would potentially be a freebuild. You may post links to all builds(freebuilds or challenge entries) in this thread, but tasks 1 & 2 are normally just posted here, while entries for 3, 4, and 5 would normally have their own threads for feedback etc. Look at it this way: This thread is about any activity going on in Avalonia, which includes all your builds, questions, new members etc. Many members read the guild threads to find links to builds, rather than going through all topics in the forum, especially when time is limited. And Vladivius is right - I belive the phase I-III is a Mitgardian minichallenge like our tasks, and like tasks 1-3 and 5 it is a mitgardian exclusive. (But you can still take inspiration from it) Again, welcome - I will be looking forward to "meeting" your sigfig - and remember, there is no such thing as a silly question /Bregir
  5. Challenge three is underway - You can find the prologue thread stickied. And by the looks of it, it'll be awesome!
  6. Great build - can't wait to see more! Wreaking Havoc is really all it's good for... Avalonia FOREVAH!
  7. Greetings, proud Avalonians. I've got a couple of freebuilds underway for Task 4. Just need to take proper photos and write some descriptions- Here are a few teaser pics: Taverna: Taverna by beorthan, on Flickr Loggers: Loggers by beorthan, on Flickr At your service /Beorthan
  8. Cool builds, Gideon - I think you just singlehandedly raised the market price for those camels by 23 %!
  9. I am loving the brooding atmosphere of this build - And to point one of the details I really enjoy - Those halberds on the roofline? BRILLIANT!
  10. Cliffhangers, much? I am not sure what I enjoy the most - the story or the builds! Keep 'em coming!
  11. Pff, this is nothing - If I had your bricks, devotion and skill, I could do the same! Really great build - Your unique building style really shines when it is all put together! (And I understand an even bigger setup is under way ) PS: Are you tracking this in the HSS challenge? Stedor must be well on its way beyond citystatus by now - Maybe RogueAngel should prepare a metropolis-status?
  12. I am looking forward to seeing where all this is going - But don't be too worried about getting the builds up too fast! It's a creative process, not a moc-factory, remember Get them up, when you are happy about the result, or would like some advice on how to move on Just my two cents
  13. Greetings, mylord. I really like the crenelations (?) on top of the left side of the wall. However, generally, I think the texturing is too busy, and some of the shapes doesn't make much sence. Consider that all shapes in this wall should be concievable in stone (I guess ),which has some limitations in the shapes it will take. (E.g. the grille bricks, and the 1 by 2 hinge plate on the right doesn't seem like normal stone shapes.) The odd shapes apart, the busy texturing and SNOT-work does make it look like the wall was erected in a hurry by unskilled craftsmen for quick defenses. (Something like the Kingsbridge city wall in "The pillars of the Earth".) A final note: I am very impressed how you make your SNOT-work all fit together! There are so many odd angels, but very few gaps - I could definitely learn something here! On your other posts (Yeah, I know - I wrote "final note" just above... ) I love those troops you have put together - and I am sad to hear your wagon has burst into flames - I sure hope you are not too far from a nice place to settle, and that you didn't lose too many vital supplies! At your service, Ser Beorthan, Lord Mayor of the Trifork
  14. AFAIK, Tolkien's dwarves are not described as particularly short compared to ordinary people - They are of a different stature, but not necessarily shorter... Just my two cents!
  15. Thanks all for the tips and the nice words. I can definitely see, that some of the suggestions would improve my build, for instance to have some sort of distinction between the stone and limegreen walls. As per photography, this was my first build photographed outside. I might try that again, and find a place in the shade next time. But being from Denmark, I've got to enjoy what little sun we have to the fullest extent! I have a lot of lime green from a PAB wall in Legoland, so finding new ways of using it is always on my priority list Landscaping seems to be my greatest nemesis, and something I will try to focus on in some of my upcoming builds. First step: A non-baseplate base for my next building. It was a refreshing build for me, as I didn't spend a long time fiddling with all sorts of thingamodoos and details (That in my process often comes out as just that, rather than adding to the build) and instead concentrated on the general structure and the idea of combining a light defensive structure with a home and a farm, something I found rather fascinating. And about the smell - I would think the floorboards are fitted tight and possibly tarred or similar to close any gaps...
  16. I am sooo looking forward to seeing the Great Temple of Aslan! (Btw, my Dachshund is called Aslan... )
  17. Someone seems to have brought out the fishing equipment! Another great temple, Mike! Again, I like how you reuse architectural elements, but still manage to build something with its own look.
  18. Another great temple/chapel build - Religion reallly seems to be thriving in Historica these days! I like the simple look - really does look like a medieval chapel in a smaller town. Notable details: The mosaic windows - great! The log piles in the rear - I am SO going to steal that... The different tombstones are looking nice too. Maybe you could have added some ground texture to suggest a recently dug grave?
  19. What's stopping you from completing it? - I guess it really works just like a freebuild for Avalonians too, apart from the fact that we have a name for it. (AKA Task 5)
  20. Can't wait to see more, Hammerhand! Task 5 really seems to have gotten people inspired.
  21. As Gideon says, it's really cool how you use the same architectural elements, but yet manages to build highly distinct buildings. The followers of Aslan will always recognise their places of worship, yet never be bored with their looks.
  22. Added to the HSS Challenge
  23. Lovely town hall, dG - Your builds are always inspiring!
  24. Never trust an elf, I say! ;) Great story And quite a cliffhanger - looking forward for more!
