Must... not... drool... That is an absolutely brilliant build - from the trees, to the waterfall, this just blows my mind. This really goes to show how organic those plastic bricks can be.

Book II - Avalonia: Guild sign-up and Discussion
Bregir replied to Rogue Angel's topic in Guilds of Historica
Great Bottleneck, Wedge - wouldn't want to have my forces caught there! Myself, with the GNAR and the Avalonian challenge over, I am now working on some free builds for the Settlements of Historica Task. I have to get my lands on the map! Here is a little WIP-shot of the harbour area of the Trifork. The idea is to have a warehouse to the left, an unloading crane on the middle pier, and a shipyard on the right. I have run into a problem with space for the shipyard, and might add another blue 16x32 base plate to make room for storage and a crane, although it was not the initial plan. You will also notice the "pretty" tablecloth and some sketches on the paper at the back - I find it helps me to sketch up the build schematics first. (Not the tablecloth... ) Any ideas, comments, and critique are most welcome. I am also working on a fortified farm house, which will be posted soon. -

Kaliphlin Community Build- Sultan's Gate
Bregir replied to Erynlasgalen's topic in Guilds of Historica
I vote yes - The HSS seeksto map all settlements in Historica, not just the builder specific ones. Further, it promises to climb quite high in the ranks. Great builds, all!- 63 replies

As I threatened earlier, I have stolen your entrance design - and while I can't match your skill, I think it turned out well. Will see if I can get it posted one of these days :)

Thank you! The yellow is quite normal for Tudor style houses in Denmark though - not lego-yellow bright, though. Thank you - and yeah, I think the fire worked out quite well Thank you - I like the "haywork" too. Someone suggested making a brick-built door... And yup - that shot turned out better than I expected! Thank you! I completely agree about the landscaping - I have a tendency to put buildings on before I wonder about landscaping - which means it often becomes a little... half hearted. Thank you, Robuko. I am honoured to have been allowed to kick off this community build :) Thank you - I do agree the walls look quite empty. And I impressed my self with the number of scenes I could put into one build. Further, I forgot to apply for UoP Credits Landscape design - Trees. Wall techniques - Half timbered tudor style Anthropology - Life in Avalonia Anthropology - Village scene

Thank you - I agree about the sails - but for a first ship, I dared not. Alternative explanation: During a recent skirmish, the rigging where damaged, and have been taken down for repairs. As the Swiftsure is mainly patrolling the lake for now, the sails are of little importance, so operations have not been halted for now. Thank you - Care to be more specific about the stern? (Is that fore or aft, anyways?) Its sleek to ensure high top speed and manouverability. I'd like a sandwhich too!! Thanks - glad you like it! About the sails - yep - but for a first shipbuild I didn't dare. Thanks for the credit - That was my point too - that as a customs patrol boat, it is definitely related to shipping by sea. Thank you, ME. I am quite happy about the balista too. Oh, but when it dashes out of the fogs unseen, smugglers have no way of escaping! Thank you, sir! As I wrote above, I thought a customs patrol ship would be eliglible for shipping credits

I really like how you are making a story out of claiming and exploring your new lands - can't wait to see more! One wonders if that wagon will end up being tested in battle... You never know, with all those drow around! Brick on /Bregir

Bregir, Avalonia - My vote goes to Kaliphlin. However, I must say the bar is set high - great entries all around - it was far from an easy decision.

Ch II: DG Collab: Forest Refuge of the Order of Eden
Bregir replied to robuko's topic in Guilds of Historica
From the first time I saw this, I though "Ent" - its a very lifelike tree. There is a sort of brooding quality about it - as if it would rise and smack you into the next century, if you stomped on a flower! And boy, will that family have some stories to share when they are reunited in Calder!- 30 replies

C.II: DG Collab: Cat B: The sanctuary of Bloodleaf Shrine
Bregir replied to Gabe's topic in Guilds of Historica
On a scale from 1 to 10, I would place this right above flipping awesome! Great build, Gabe - I don't think you should regret the mushroom like appearance as it gives it a very organic look fitting for treehugging elfies. I am especially impressed about the roundness of the thing, the landscaping and tree, as well as that gorgeous interior.- 44 replies

Absolutely stunning - there are so many great details that I would love to see more of, including the mill and watchtower. I really like the idea of ruins of a long lost civilisation, especially with all the secretive treehuggers (elfies) running around Avalonia. Also, your take on the black ships and plague story is great - and I can't wait to see what the outcome of the challenge will be! Was there really a plague? And will the drow be driven back? And what is the story about these black ships? Are they related to the plague? And much more! :)

Great wrap up to a great collab. The minifig posing is so very dramatic, and I love the use of CMF bases for roof - I have been looking for a use for them for a long time!

Book II Challenge II - Avalonian Civil War! - RESULTS POSTED
Bregir replied to Rogue Angel's topic in Guilds of Historica
Hi there, I just checked the rules (I just checked, and I have 6 pics myself! Hadn't noticed the rule ), and it goes like this: "Entries are to consist of no more than 5 posted pictures of 800x600 or smaller resolution but may also include a link to a folder of additional images of any size. You can have a video instead of a photo if you want. You may post one entry with up to 10 pictures. It can be from any one category." As I read it, up to ten pictures are ok for one entry, which means you can probably add more pics to yours and that the rest are still valid (given they have no more than 10 pictures). Marshall from HIMYM would say "You have been Lawyered!" - But alas, I am not a lawyer... and hardly certain of my interpretation! I'd like to know if I should remove one of my pics, or if I have interpreted the rules correctly, as I too would be hard pressed to get it all in.... /Bregir -
Book II Challenge II - Avalonian Civil War! - RESULTS POSTED
Bregir replied to Rogue Angel's topic in Guilds of Historica
I think I forgot to post my entry here... So here it is - deGothia, cat. B: A black day It is the first in our big collab build for the deGothia side, about a family driven by their home and divided by the rumoured plague. Best of luck to all! So many great builds out there, I must say. -
Dear all, Hereby my entry for ch. II, Cat B, deGothias side. (Plague prevention) In the City of Brevis, in the heart of Avalonie, the old city walls have been manned and the gates are watched vigilantly to ensure no spreading of the plague. Further, keen eyes scout the outskirts for any sign of the drow. Only locals are allowed to pass through the gates, and patrols have been increased on the walls. Within the walls, life goes on as ever, the locals seeing to their chores and duties. However, the rumours of plague have left a tense atmosphere over the city. So far, no signs of the plague have been seen within the walls... However, something is amiss. Young Peter is feeling ill, which has left its mark upon the porch of the family's house inside the walls. His aunt Marian rushes to clean up the mess. Under the tense, nervous atmosphere, it takes very little to spark unrest. Distracted by a trader trying to force his way into the city, the guards fail to notice the gathering of an angry mob, spurred on by fear of the plague and the words of someone, who heard someone say, that young Peter may have caught sick with Plague. Armed with pitchforks, shovels and torches, they lay a temporary siege to the family's home. In the adrenaline rush someone throws a torch, lighting the haystack by the house, making the mob dissolve in seconds. As evening falls, it becomes evident that haystack and thatched roof does not go well with fire... EDIT: Sorry for photo quality. Comments and criticism welcome. Good luck all EDIT 2: I would like to apply for the following UoP credits: Landscape design - Trees. Wall techniques - Half timbered tudor style Anthropology - Life in Avalonia Anthropology - Village scene

Book II - Avalonia: Guild sign-up and Discussion
Bregir replied to Rogue Angel's topic in Guilds of Historica
I am happy to see the map updated. Only regret is that the main roads are not displayed, and that the rivers are changed compared to the original map. That rerouting seems to take away some of the trading potential of the Trifork! -
