  1. Great build, and great backstory to go with it! I am loving the brickbuilt hull and the swamp! :) Brick on!
  2. I'd like to claim credit for "Trade and Law": "Shipping by sea/Water" for my customs patrol craft, The Switsure.
  3. Hereby my entry to the GNAR, an Avalonian Ship of the Isle: The Swiftsure Good luck to all! /Bregir out
  4. On the great lake of the Trifork, where multiple rivers meet, Beorthan has joined the vessel Swiftsure on a patrol. From the deck of the ship he greets two elven traders, approaching the city with their cargo.... The Swiftsure is a "Ship of the Isles" commisioned by the city council of the Trifork to patrol the lake, which shores the city stand on. It is larger than the typical "Ships of the Isles", but maintains the speed and grace of the smaller patrolcrafts normally travelling the narrow channels between the Mystic Isles. This was a requirement from the start, as a swift and manouverable vessel with the capacity to sail the lake, as well as the deep sea was needed. Its speed, together with the shallow draft and sleek hull, allows it to follow most other ships and boats whereever they may go to escape, while the broad fighting platforms fore and aft gives it the necessary punch in a fighting situation. Normally, its main purpose is customs and rescue duty, but if necessary, it will be able to hold its own against almost any other vessel traversing the lakes and rivers of the Trifork. The Swiftsure is rigged as a Xebec, allowing it to hoist both square and lateen sails on its long booms. Thus, with the right rigging and an experienced crew, it will be fast both before (with square sails), and when tacking close to the wind.(With lateens.) Further, it has oar propulsion, giving it great speed and manouverability in still weather. The oars are driven by three oarsmen through a clever Mitgardian gear mechanism with leg powered boost function, allowing the oarsmen to really put their backs into it when needed. At the back, a large rudder gives the vessel the necessary steering power to be effective both at high and low speeds, and allowing the Swiftsure to turn in a very short radius. Apart from its crew of well-disciplined sailors (and their experienced captain) the vessel is armed with a powerful ballista, able to fire a deadly bolt almost halfway accross the lake with reasonable precision. Any comments and critiscism is welcome. I quite liked how this one turned out, but I am always interested in improving! I would like to claim UoP Credit for "Trade and Law": "Shipping by sea/Water". May the brick be with you Bregir/Beorthan
  5. I will be looking forward to seeing more :) Go Avalonia! /Bregir
  6. Its not completely updated though - my lands (The Trifork) aren't marked yet. :)
  7. Thank you for the guide - seems very well made - its always nice to have constructive input. Thanks! :) They do? :O Which ones, sir? (Never intended to steal a name! :) ) Thanks, Hammerbro. There is actually a little more height in the back, than in the front, but the foilage almost hides it. And anyways, it was mainly a little setting to present my characters in. (Feedback is still nice, though! :) ) Thank you, Rogueang. I am quite happy with the path too. :) I will be looking forward to seeing it! And yes, maybe that would be a good idea. It is meant to be an old broken/overgrown road, so I thought a variety of stones would be fitting. Anyways, thank you all for the feedback! I am certain GoH will give me plenty of chance to improve my landscaping skills in the time to come! ;) /Brick on Bregir
  8. Here is my entry to Task 2: Beorthan, Lord Mayor of the Trifork rides through the wetlands with his retinue. In front rides Tauro, a Minotaur from the lands of Nocturnus. He serves as scout to Beorthan, his senses stronger than those any of any man. He is strong, fast and silent, and fights with great fury. How he came to the Trifork, or to met Beorthan, is a mystery, and none of them seems too keen to speak of the story. Just behind Beorthan rides his two bodyguards, the twins Marcus and Cassius. They are soldiers of Kaliphlin, well-disciplined and professional, and rarely leaves Beorthan's side. In the Trifork, they train and organise the militia. When faced with enemies, they fight defensively and well-ordered, and have trained the militia to do likewise. They came to the Trifork after being dismissed as loyal soldiers to a losing warlord. Here, they were employed to organise the defences and quickly became friends with Beorthan, sharing his quiet and composed nature. In the back rides Brogar, marksman and military engineer from Mitgardia. He was commissoned to expand the fortifications of the Trifork as the town outgrew its original walls. For some reason, he stuck around, and started to follow Beorthan on his travels. Brogar is talkative and ever has a story to share, reminded by some thing or other on his way. He fights at distance with crossbow and throwing axes. In his workshop in the Trifork, he experiments with siege equipment and black powder, sometimes leaving his beard burnt and blackened.
  9. Regarding task three, I did like this: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=94386#entry1871416 Love your photos and stories, btw! :)
  10. The Trifork is a peaceful settlement where roads and waterways intersect. A plague would be a most terrible thing for a town with so many travellers passing through. We shall do our best to stop the Plague. deGothia, I lend you my aid. Your humble servant Beortan
  11. Just came back from easter holiday and is catching up with work and stuff. And then there is the important things in life... (GoH, obviously) - will pick side soon !
  12. Thank you, sir Thank you for the credit. And yes, but in that scale I found that too many roofs(/buildings) made it look to cluttered. Obviously, however, there are more buildings in The Trifork than what is shown on the map!;) Thank you, good sir. The yellow plates is, in classic lego style, meant to be fields of wheat. I see now that tan would probably have been better, Thank you, sir. *bows* Agreed! Straight plates alone makes it look a little too angular! :) Thank you all for your feedback! I am hoping to be able in time to build all of the major landmarks on that map. /Bregir out
  13. While I would have thought a blue castle would have looked odd, this works very well! Nice, alternative build! :)
  14. The Trifork, task 3 | Bregir | Avalonia (For the microbuild)
  15. I most humbly seek certification in the following subjects: Avalonia from above - Microscale
  16. Before going away for the next one and a half week, I thought I would just finish task 3. Hereby my entry: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=94386 Have a nice easter all - may your paths be safe and your swords strike true. Greetings Beorthan
  17. This is my entry to the third Avalonian Challenge, describing the lands of the Trifork. Where the waterways meet and the roads intersect, many a traveller from all over Historica has passed through over the years. In time, merchants and craftsmen made camp at the intersection, servicing the travellers, shoeing their horses, filling their bellies and keeping them well supplied for the road ahead. With wealth came bandits, making away with the spoils of hard labour in the dark of night. As the settlement at The Trifork grew and permanent dwellings was erected, a wooden wall was built, soon to be replaced by masonry walls with fortified gatehouses and towers. In time, space within the walls grew sparse and earthen ramparts and a new gatehouse was erected north of the river, allowing the town to grow and prosper once more. Further, a chain mechanism to block of the river was established between the twin towers to the north-west. In combination with a number of warships patrolling the lake, this allows the council of The Trifork full control of the waterways in times of conflict. That is the Trifork you see today. As you approach the settlement, getting within a mile of the walls, the wet marshlands give way to firmer ground inhabited by a number of farms, all with strong doors and shutters, some with arrow slits in small stone towers. Apart from these, no buildings inhabit the lush plains. Entering by one of the Trifork's three gates, a completely different world will show itself. A humming, dynamic market town appears, bustling with life, the market stalls selling every conceivable good of Historica, and even some of the lands beyond. The great keep stands watch over the city and the drawbridge connecting "Old Town" south of the river with "New Town" north of the river. While the Avalonian influence is the strongest, all cultures of Historica have set their mark on both architecture and inhabitants of the Trifork. Today, the Trifork is rich in trade and culture, an outpost towards other realms of Historica. It is ruled by a city council with the young knight Beorthan at its head. But what will the unruly times of current Historica bring to its doorsteps, and will it stand against the rising unrest of its surroundings? C&C welcome. I would like to claim UoP credit for microscale :) (Or try, at least!) Thanks for looking! (Edited for grammatical errors)
  18. Oh my! It seems like the town of The Trifork is under Drow control?!? My lands?! Under enemy control!? I wonder if further intelligence will show an occupied town, or a besieged, fortified town... ;)
  19. Greetings, Avalonians I, Ser Beorthan, Lord Mayor of the Trifork, hereby swear my undivided fealty to the lords and people of Avalonia. Above, Ser Beorthan rides out from one of the three gates of the trading town of the Trifork, followed by his two personal guards. Greeting him as he passes stand Lady Mariana, his wife. The Trifork The trading town of the Trifork stands where rivers and roads forks out on the very borders of Avalonia. The many people passing by, travelling by river or road, has brought much trade and many different influences to the town. The Trifork is a wealthy and heterogeneous fortified town, which expresses itself in a diverse populace and architecture. (I, normally a town builder, am very impressed by the builds, the storylines, and the sheer effort put in the GoH. Therefore, I have now decided to join, hoping you will welcome me within your ranks. Next, I will look into tasks 1 to 4. *bows*) PS. May I suggest the newest map is updated on the first page of this post, as I was struggling somewhat to find what lands I could claim... :)
  20. Lovely build! And about SEATs: the design is a lot less bland than its electric shaver counterparts from VW and Audi, should you ask me... :P
  21. I am especially fond of the first one - makes a great "Maltese" cross! (That's what we call it in Danish, at least... :))
  22. I am going to steal/borrow that entrance idea! What a truly inspiring build!
  23. I love that facade! And it took me a while to figure out that it was 24 wide - that explains why it doesn't seem out of proportion even though it is so tall! :P The shop and apartment interior is great too - although I agree that the apartment could use a few more colours. Great build overall.

    MOC: Ambulance

Thats a good looking ambulance! I really like how you got all that in such little space. And the asymmetry works very well.
  25. Thank you, LT - nice words from the Tiger are not to be taken lightly! Thanks, Dhivael - about the "retro-look" - old (and somewhat dusty... ) bricks does help a lot! I simply don't have all those smooth fancy bricks to give my mocs that sleek, modern look!
