  1. I use fleshies for the elves (due to the ears on the lotr hairpieces) and yellows for the rest, as I much prefer the classic look of the yellow figs. Yet, I am open for a wider use of the colours, for instance to discern race or origin :)
  2. Two builds up for the challenge (Wuhuu for the deadline extension...) Cat A: Men A boast of victories to come Cat B: Men In the halls of the Elves An entry for the minifigure challenge underway, as well as a nearly finished port build for the Trifork and a mill WIP. Brick on /Bregir
  3. Updated earlier post with additional build. /Bregir
  4. After investigating rumours of a Dwarven invasion of Avalonia, the Leanders of Historica has decided to do their part in avoiding war between Mitgardian Dwarves and Avalonian Elves. Thus, a Leander Duke has been given the task of bringing together dilpomats from both sides to discuss the situation. Perhaps reason and common understanding will still prevail? In the great hall of an Elven king, a number of Elven diplomats and nobles are gathered, as the Duke enters and bows deeply before the assembly. Leander Duke: "I am most honoured that you have graciously decided to heed my call for this meeting. A dwarven delegation is waiting for an audience, ready to discuss a solution to this... challenge. I trust you are as interested in discretion as they are?.." Elven Lord: "Were it not for friendship with your people and the trust I hold in you, I should not have allowed these dwarves within my halls... What these dwarves conspire to do is outragious! Encroaching upon our lands with weapons drawn..." Elven Diplomat: "You may rely on the discretion of anyone here... As opposed to the Dwarves, we take no part in warmongering!" Leander Duke: "Your sceptisism is understandable, but you must understand this: To the Dwarves your armistice with the Drow looks like an unholy alliance with all they despice. Like giving in to the whims of the enemy. They believe the Drow must be struck down at every single opportunity..." Elven Lord: "As should be evident to any sane mind, our armistice is nothing but a ruse to allow us to strike at a more opportune moment! We wish nothing more than to strike them back into the foul tunnels from whence they came!" Elven Lady: "Mylords, mayhaps we should hear the Dwarves out? Could not a sudden Dwarven assault upon the Drow prove a long awaited possibility to achieve our common goal and rid our lands of the Plague of our dark cousins? Elven Diplomat: "I concur..." Elven Lord: "As you wish... Let them in..." The guards open the doors, and the Dwarven delegation enters, respectfully bowing and presenting themselves in the characteristic, formal manner of their people. The elves take on their most diplomatic expressions and return the greetings respectfully. The Leander Duke steps into the background, following the conversation in silence. Elven Lord: "Welcome and well met to these halls of peace and reason... I have accepted the invitation extended by my friend the Duke, as I believe you have. In respect of him, eachother, and peace of the lands, we shall listen to what you have to say and seek a solution that will not require us to react upon your planned attack on our realms..." Dwarven Delegation Leader: "Mylord, we are honoured to be welcomed within these grand halls, and bring no desire to fight your people. Further, I must correct you - there will be no attack on your realms and I bring no declaration of war." Dwarven Elder: "Instead, we bring a declaration of peace, stating that no casualties or damage is to be caused on Elven people nor property, unless in the strictest sense of self-defense. Or in case the Elves actively sides with the Drow..." Elven Diplomat: "A most honourable thing to do. If we are to assume all Dwarven forces will adhere to this, I believe todays chances of success are reasonable..." Dwarven Leader: "We are an honourable people, and these instructions can be distributed to all forces within days, reaching them in due time for the assault on the Drow. You will find we are perfectly capable of living up to our part of the bargain... But can you live up to yours?.." Elven Lord: "I trust you are not questioning the honour of my people in our very own halls, sir!" Elven Diplomat: "I heard no such thing spoken, my lord. And you, my fine dwarves, have yet to share what our part in this plan would be..." Behind closed doors, the negotiations continue... Will these Dwarves and Elves come to an understanding, and will that agreement be accepted by their brethren? Will an invasion become reality? Will the Elves of Avalonia side with the Dwarves or rally to keep them from their lands? Are Avalonia and Mitgardia on the brink of a long and bloody war against one another, or will the Drow presence in Avalonia be stunted? And more importantly, what actions will Ravage and his minions in Nocturnus take in reaction. Evil still lures in the darkness of Nocturnus, no matter what outcome will come of the present conflict... ______________________________ C&C welcome. Hope the pictures came out ok - that will forever be my curse... And more importantly, I hope the story makes a minimum of sense! //Bregir out

  6. Somewhere in Mitgardia, near the grand city of Amortug, a Leander enters a tavern and orders a goblet of wine. Clad in dark, earthly colours atypical of his people, he leans discreetly on the halfwall to a booth inhabited by two dwarves, wetting their tongues with wine, and falls silent. His thoughts linger on his own kind, who, with Royal traditions in their blood and myths, are now shattered throughout the Guilds of Historica, living lives far from the lordly stations of their past. Yet, still they maintain a creed of royalty to preserve and uphold peace in the lands of Historica, once said to have been ruled by a mythical line of Leander kings, before Man, Elf, and Dwarf arrived. It is but a few weeks past his Duke called him in and warned him of the risk of war between Mitgardia and Avalonia. A war that was likely to spread, and bring death and destruction upon all free people. A war that should be avoided at all costs... At the clash of two cups, he is brought out of his musings and back to present reality and the task at hand. Through the bustling sound of a seacaptain boasting his provess to the barmaid, and the general commotion of the inn, the burly voice of the younger dwarf becomes clear to his feral ears. Younger dwarf: "Cheers to victory and success of our ruse! When our miners break through to Avalo...." The older dwarf sends a harsh glance and interrupts. Older dwarf: "Hush, you fool - Would you have the whole world hear of our plans?" He lowers his voice and smiles. "Yet, I agree with your sentiment, good fellow..." The younger dwarf follows suit and lowers his voice, after looking over his shoulder. Younger dwarf: "None be listening here, and there aren't a single elf amongst the patrons... Anyway, the tunnels are almost done - none will be able to stop us now." Older dwarf: "Ah, you are right in that - let us raise our cups once more. To victory over the Drow in Avalonia. We shall show them underground elves how true tunneling is done. He raises his cup in a toast. Younger dwarf: "When we emerge upon their lands, the Drow will fall and the Avalonians will tremble before our might!" Spying isn't necessarily a complicated process. Sometimes, the combination of a keen ear and a slip of the tongue is all that is needed. And as anybody will know, no ears are keener than those of a Leander, and no tongues slippier than a dwarf in his drinks.... _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Overview picture:
  7. This is a brilliant vig! A lot of details on both sides, without the Moc becoming overly busy. I've got to say, this is my favourite Cat. A so far! Well done, Emma
  8. Could most definitely look like a cousin to De Gothia - On the other hand, I would style my beard like de Gothia's if I could!
  9. Greeting, Sir Nevyneke, and welcome to our lush lands. I trust you shall find a spot in which to settle and prosper. At your service, Sir Beorthan (And what a most amusing introduction! And it seems like your photos work fine)
  10. Welcome onboard, Brick Man Studios (BMS? ;) ) Join us in leading Avalonia to greatness!! (and feel free to ask if you have any questions - we are quite a friendly bunch :) ) At your service Beorthan, Lord Mayor of the Trifork
  11. Additionally, in Avalonia we also claim a lot of land on the map. I would suggest looking at some of the other posts of people who have signed up for inspiration. In any case, welcome amongst our ranks. Long live Avalonia! :)
  12. Greetings, FDawg - I think most people use flickr, and in any case, you will need some sort of picture hosting service, as you can't upload the pictures directly on eurobricks. I am quite certain you can find a guide somewhere in the forum - maybe just try the search field. Otherwise, someone will surely jump to with a link shortly!
  13. Great choice of figs - I think my favourite is the music box man! :)
  14. Looking good - I hope you are allowed entry :)
  15. This a beautifully busy litte port. I am so impressed how you managed to include so many little scenes and stories, without the whole place seeming overcrowded. There is something going on everywhere! Brick on! :)
  16. Well earned win!
  17. Nice entry - I like how you have included civilian figures. My favourites must be the clan leader and the travelling merchant. I do envy you that turban! Edit: Fixed Splelleling
  18. Funny entry - however, as an avalonian, I will have to protest! My favourite the mitguardian nobleman.
  19. This is a great idea - I just need to figure out the last few minifigs, and then I will have an entry ready! Great entries so far!
  20. Another great entry! The competition will be tough it seems. None the less, I am daring an attempt myself, and I see we share some of the same ideas.
  21. Welcome Petricel! That is a very interesting sigfig. Not like anything I have seen before - very innovative use of that backpack piece. He rather stands out in this bunch of armoured knights! :) Happy to have you on board!
  22. Avalonia is one great builder the poorer for your absence and you will surely be welcomed back, whenever you may return! I will miss your great/fun/fantabulous builds as well as your participation in these forums. As a former professional soldier, my advice is to make the best of your time in the army, regardless of your scepticism as to the concept. If it is anything like the danish army, you will exit it with friends and experiences for life, and with knowing yourself and some of your comrades better than one can imagine. Best of luck - We all hope to see you return one day! PS: I am somewhat confused by the fact that so many are surprised that a neutral country has an army... :)
  23. Welcome Grinsebar! Good to see your premier. I think the best way to improve is to post one's builds and use what feedback you get. I joined a few months back, and I have already improved a lot, both from feedback and from seeing the builds of others. I agree with the general feedback sofar, and really like your waterfall. Simple, yet effective. I also think your rockwork is pretty good - and you did at good job disguising the BURP! Brick on - Will be looking forward to seeing more from you!
  24. Great! Can't wait to see more In time...
  25. A never ending story! Are you going to register the settlements here?
