Nice shape of this ship! The water is excellent, UoP +1 for waves
-
Very nice ship overall, the shape especially of the forward and mid sections looks great! The bow reminds me of ancient Egyptian boats? I also like the multitude of details like the Barqan Fire system, the bars as partially submerged oars and the rounded slope canopies The stern part looks slightly unfinished to me with all those exposed studs, so there is some room for improvement there in my opinion. For UoP I agree that the waves rely a tad too much on non-lego elements (even though the effect is excellent!) but definitely +1 for shipping by sea and minifig posing!

The Lighthouse of Barqa Situated on a small islet outside the mouth of the Arkbri river, this majestic lighthouse has guided the vessels entering the port of Barqa for centuries. Fuelled by refined Naphta, the smoke is usually barely visible. At the moment, all ports of Barqa are closed to general traffic and a quarentine put in place to stop the plague from spreading to Kaliphlin. Therefore unrefined black oil has been added to the fire to make a smoke signal indicating that all ships must hold and await permission to enter the harbor, after sufficient time that anyone with the plague on board either has died or recovered. The only exception is the lucky few to be admitted to the Hospital of the Black Brothers outside the city, who have persuaded the City Council of Barqa to allow them to accept as many as they can into their care. Gideon has brought his young protégé Elijah de Gothia to the lighthouse to watch the naval traffic. Integrated ligting made of 4x2 PF LEDs. (sorry for the bad photo quality with all the noise, the exposure time was 50 s to get this effect ) Closeup of the water, my first attempt at making water from loose round plates. This is my Challenge II, category C entry for Team de Gothia. I'd like to claim the following UoP credits for this build: Waves [Hydrology] Lighted Builds [General Building]

Treating the Sick The Black Brothers are devoted to caring for the sick, and are among the finest healers in Historica. At their convent close to Barqa, the city council of Barqa has allowed them to take care of some of the victims of the Plague in Avalonia. No one promised that being treated would be pleasant Despite the Black Brothers being masters of healing, not everyone can be saved... There are still plenty of pharmaceutical supplies. Caring for the sick is hard work. This is my Challenge II, category B entry for Team de Gothia. I'd like to claim UoP credit for Interior Design [General Building].

Professor Office: University of Petraea Free Build
Gideon replied to legoman19892's topic in Guilds of Historica
Welcome to Kaliphlin! Nice packed office with all that collection! Please check out the University of Petraea if you have not done so already -
Welcome back! Nice to see a new MOC from you The ground looks very good, especially the snow drifts against the wall. The flags seem to have different wind directions however?

The first picture is simply perfect! Both the build itself and the presentation are so well done I especially like the SNOT landscaping and the ruined parts of the towers. So glad to see all the awesome builds coming out of Nocturnus these days, you are more than matching the number of builds from the other guilds with the size and exceptional quality of these

My MOC will be the Lighthouse of Barqa I'm currently finishing for challenge II, cat C. Not going to bring the base however (due to size/weight considerations of the luggage) so it's more or less exactly what I took some WIP shots of earlier (since the WIP didn't show the missing side ): I still think we should have a GoH gathering some time, when is everyone there? I'll probably be there from sometime early/mid-Thursday (arriving in the US on Wednesday and will stay at the convention center Thursday-Sunday)

Fracture Collab Display NOW WITH DETAIL SHOTS
Gideon replied to Torgar's topic in Guilds of Historica
Can't add much more than what's been said already, this is simply one of the greatest displays I've seen! Great work guys, so glad to have you in GoH! -
Lots of nice parts usage here, and I like the overall impression of the dragon. One thing that worked very well are those tan rounded inverted tiles as the chest of the dragon, simple but just perfect!

Avalonian Second Task: Departing for Albion
Gideon replied to Gilbert Despathens's topic in Guilds of Historica
Very nice house and rockwork, excellent details! The angled wall looks very "DC-like" and fits very well in this build I think however that the ground could have used some more details when the rest of the build has such "high resolution". Edit: You havn't thought about claiming some University of Petraea credits for the build?- 26 replies

Wow! I had missed that there was an interior (should have followed the flickr link ), I especially like the beds in the alcoves. Nice secret entrance as well, although it seems a bit heavy for a minifig to move?
-
Very nice tower! It almost looks like a small keep My favorite parts are the battlements and how the tower continues the nice rockwork on the right side. The photography is also well done! One suggestion for improvement is that the entrance stair would have looked better with a tiled surface in my opinion.

As I wrote on Swebrick I really like your rockwork and how the vegetation blends into the landscaping so well. The fig posing is also excellent, especially the one jumping from the tree! Great work! So glad you finally joined GoH

Sounds great! I've realized that the reddish brown dish is not a very common piece, only one in 79004 Barrel Escape and one in 79111 Constitution Train Chase... Since the Barrel Escape wasn't really available in Europe I've only got one of those dishes (thankfully my brother-in-law in Orlando helped me get a Barrel Escape set for an acceptable price per part) Anyway, if you don't have two of those it's perfectly fine to use for example black dishes or maybe 4x4 round plates in a suitable color (at least I've got a ton of dark brown 4x4 round plates from the Uruk-hai Army sets )

Only 9 days left until Brickworld Chicago! Two questions: Who is attending? Should we arrange some kind of GoH gathering at a suitable time Thursday or Friday? (I will bring the part that counts of my Challenge II entry to the exhibition btw)

Mpya Stedor: The Library & The Gate of Amenor
Gideon replied to Maxim I's topic in Guilds of Historica
Very nice build! I really like the scale you are building this in! My favourite here is the white and tan facade of the library, nice details and good overall design. What could be improved in my opinion is the pavement, 1x1 round tiles gets far to repetitive to me. Maybe mixing them up with some square tiles or other colors of round bricks could be an idea?- 18 replies
