Two nice builds with great detailing in one! I like the walls of the lower level and how the light comes in through those low windows. The second picture is unfortunately out of focus, it looks as though your camera has put the focus on the floor of the upper level?

The river is excellent and the tan tops on the palisade is s great way to make the logs seem freshly hewn What could be improved here is the photography, as the cropping of small parts of the MOC in the overview shots hurts the presentation a bit in my view. -

Book II - Kaliphlin: Guild sign-up and Discussion
Gideon replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
(Reply to a post in a thread risen from the grave ) If you are referring to the Life and Death in Kaliphlin mini challenge, it is over. I was the only one making an entry to the first part (but I still havn't heard of any prize? ). There are however quite a few cards of the deck remaining to be illustrated so I suppose those could be built as free-builds or if Ska intends to run another mini-challenge for those? -
Excellent build, so much to like here If I have to choose however, I have to say that the Tudor section is my favorite. The color palette and landscaping is perfect for Nocturnus!

(Completed) Call to Arms! Battle of The Wither Woods (And LDD Ch
Gideon replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
Soraya the assassin Soraya is a member of the Hashishin, an ancient and secretive group of Kaliphlin assassins. She is very skilled in the use of her long single-edged sword, but she also has a few more tricks up her sleeve. One of these is her trained monkey, fiercely loyal and with surprising skills with the knife. She is also a master of evasion, so it is highly unlikely that she will be killed in the battle. Soraya and her monkey will fight for Petera and the Valkarian order. Cyclops Tribe A tribe of cyclops were recruited by Soraya to fight for the Black Spire. Led by the cyclops matriarch, they are now fighting for Petera and the Valkarian order. The only metalworking the cyclops have mastered is bronze. If they are using weapons and armor of steel, it has been obtained by trade or more likely from fallen enemies. They are stronger than a human and much tougher, but their archers are not very good as they are not able to judge the range to the target very well due to the lack of stereoscopic vision... The cyclops are thirsting for revenge for their fallen king, who were slain by Sir Gideon at the Battle of Queenscross. Barqan City Guard A force from the Barqan City Guard has been sent by the City Council of Barqa (at the request of Sir Gideon) to assist Dugal in the battles. They are disciplined soldiers fighting in tight ranks, either with spears or the traditional Barqan gladius, which every guardsman receives upon being accepted into the City Guard. Arkbri Falcons A company of Kaliphlin mercenaries led by Ediz Falconi, a veteran of many battles including the Battle of Queenscross (where most of his company was killed) and the Battle of Castle Zar during the Revolword War. With new skilled soldiers Falconi has shown up to assist whoever pays the most. If the odds are against them, they are however very likely to retreat but never leave an injured comrade behind.- 318 replies

Be ready for some frustrating photo sessions ZC's tip is good, the best way to make details and shape come out nicely in the pictures is to light it in such a way that it doesn't become entirely black. (Just take a look at your Orthanc box photos to see that the pros do it too!)

I like the shape of the gate opening -
Very nice tree, and I really like the use of that horse for the elf(?) lady The photography can be improved a bit however, try to make the lighting more dim so you don't get those strong reflections from the bricks. I also think some of the pics have a reddish tint, I usually correct the colors based on an area I know is white/gray to avoid that. (easy with a white background, more difficult if the background itself is non-gray...I handle that by putting a white paper at the edge somewhere and calibrate with that before cropping it out in the final pic).

Lots of interesting details on the tower, I especially like the wall design on the upper floor and the transition to the top part I think the photography can be improved however, more light (shoot outside in the shadow or on a cloudy day?) and try to not crop the build in the overall shots (this is perfectly fine in detail shots however) UoP +1 for Life in Kaliphlin.

Great minifig posing, I especially like the technique with the lever arrow in the orc throat The landscaping and the could be improved however. Perhaps make the road a bit less straight and add some more variation to the surrounding ground? -
Very nice building and great scene with those minifigs Thorshaven keeps growing! The lower floor of the building looks a bit cold in winter when the North wind from the Frozen Beyond is blowing? Well, not anything at the moment since I'm in full building mode for Challenge 2 and Brickworld...but I will definitely try to include Elijah in upcoming Barqa MOCs

Great to hear that you are healed and back in building shape! Sounds like you are expanding your collection rapidly -
I assumed that there was a reason Looking forward to the rest of the photos!

Nice landscaping, especially the trees and the various details of the landscape. The storytelling and it's illustration with the minifig posing is excellent, as well as the photography I agree however that there are some areas of the ground which look a bit "rough cut" and not as detailed as I would have expected, so I'm looking forward to seeing the whole collab!

Nice tree and minifig posing!

Awesome ship! I like the overall shape and the amount of detailing you've done. Black lego is so hard to photograph, but I think you did a great job with the last picture allowing us to see all the details of the ship

Nice to see you here in GoH again DM, where have you been? Any ships from Mpya Stedor joining the GNAR?

Very nice mosaic and MOC overall! The story is also great, even though it was long I couldn't stop reading A question on the canon story btw, are all of Varlyrio in league with Ravaage or just a rebel fraction of Varlyrians? -
Sure, many of the ideas were not mine to start with If you want to see it live I'm planning to bring it to Skaerbaek.
