  1. Instantly recognizable model The landscape works really well, and is different from most with it's use of tiles and almost no studs. Lovely display piece
  2. I'm not sure where this should go, so my apologies if it's in the wrong area As a thanks to the LEGO community for all their support and to help promote brickly, I’m doing a giveaway raffle with this model. If you haven’t heard of it before, brickly is a new app for sharing your original LEGO creations and seeing others’ models. It is currently only available for iOS devices, but they have plans to expand to Android and a web platform as well. It is still just getting started, but I think it could become a very useful asset for the LEGO online community. To be entered in the giveaway, just go make a new account at brickly. And then send me your username (via PM, email, flickrmail, etc.) Or if you already have an account, just make a comment on any of my builds on brickly. The giveaway is open through October 10th, and then I will randomly select a winner and ship them this MOC
  3. New freebuild (and giveaway!):
  4. This secluded shrine is one of many in a large monastery complex nestled into the Heavenly Mountains of Mitgardia. Also, if you didn't already see my post in the New Member Guide, this model is part of a giveaway. You can see the full details and more pictures of the model here. Comments and criticism welcome

  6. That is some classic Ecc awesomeness It kind of reminds me of your old embassy model
  7. This was built for the Colossal Battle Contest V, specifically the Dread Ambushers category. I have always enjoyed building dwarven style creations, and had wanted to do another for a while. The tower was somewhat influenced by dwarven towers in skyrim. This also gave me a great opportunity to use the polar bear in a build. The dwarves of Staor have many small outposts around the mountain that serve as defensive bastions, and gates into their underground kingdom. Some unfriendly neighboring trolls have planned an ambush and scaled down the craggy mountain slopes in an attack on the dwarves. Little do they realize that they too may be on the receiving end of an ambush. More pics. Thanks for looking, comments and criticism welcome
  8. @mrcp6d: No idea. If I was over there, I would try to take a peek at what they've got though
  9. While not a Mitgardian creation, I thought you guys might enjoy my Rivendell model: I am working on something Mitgardian now though.
  10. My second micro Lord of the Rings creation, after Edoras. Andrew JN suggested that I build Rivendell, and I was skeptical about being able to pull it off in micro-scale at first. The main build process took a little over 2 weeks, and then I needed to wait a bit longer for parts to arrive to finish the model. It was primarily based off of these two images: picture 1, picture 2.The model is view-able from all sides, and while one of my most complex micro creations, it was an extremely rewarding build. Rivendell, also known as Imladris, was an Elven town and the house of Elrond located in Middle-earth. It is described as “The Last Homely House East of the Sea”, referencing towards Valinor, which is west of the Great Sea in Aman. High resolution images on flickr. Check out all of the pictures on brickbuilt to make sure you don't miss any details. Thanks for looking
  11. Really a gorgeous building I think you have a great balance of texture, the tudor contrasts nicely with the stone portion, while the corner tiles keep the stone walls from being too flat and boring. Your depth change for windows also breaks up the walls in a neat and orderly fashion Many thanks for sharing the tudor techniques, it's been a very popular tutorial!
  12. Stunning waterfall! Very pretty tower as well, I rather like the wooden top myself. Though the section of moss on the left of it looks a little too busy with all the studs exposed and color contrast. Same down on the dock, I think fewer 1x2 sand green plates would look better. Really well done!
  13. That is some absolutely tremendous landscaping! Amazing use of color, the rock islands are gorgeous, and the water is quite pretty too I think the castle itself could benefit from a better layout, perhaps with the bigger building in the back, or having both sections connected by some small curtain walls. The dock/stairway area to a tunnel entrance is quite stunning
  14. Tremendous collaborative battle scene! The landscape is quite good: in particular the various slopes, and river/swampy area impressed me Beautifully detailed buildings as well, their small size helps the build look appropriately large
  15. Pretty neat setup with having all the rooms be part of one model I like the strip of log bricks alternating with SNOT 2x2 tiles
  16. Thanks! No part count limit, just had to fit within the footprint of official sets Thank you! Thanks!
  17. This model was inspired by a LUG challenge focused around the Pirates theme. While I usually only make a few Pirates builds each year, it has always been one of my favorite genres. The one limit for the challenge was that your entry had to be no bigger than the largest official Pirates set. I have always been more attracted to the islands, forts, and land settings than ships themselves, so I settled on building a small fort on an island. A single 32×32 baseplate served as the foundation for the model. For once a peaceful day with no pirates, or enemy ships in sight of the small Imperial outpost. Which makes it a fitting time to restock with some fresh supplies. More pictures are available on brickbuilt. Thanks for looking
  18. Some more builders who continually inspire and amaze me. Littlehaulic: @Cecilie Wookieewarrior:
  19. Quite a beautiful castle, dG! The winding path through the rock reminds me of ZC's work Excellent snow work too, the little touches like brown carrot tops peeking through in various spots are great details. The various additions and niches in the fortress really bring it to life, and it has a great rugged aesthetic So many details packed inside too!
  20. Great use of color in the landscape, and I love those trees The wall texture is certainly intense, and matches pretty well with your teammates. Perhaps using slightly fewer different types of parts for the texture would be more cohesive as a whole. The dark tan path looks a little jagged in spots, with how you've arranged the wedge plates. Often laying them all in roughly the same orientation works best: Still a very good build, and congratulations once again on your team's success!
  21. Red and dark red make such a pretty roof The timber portions up top are incorporated nicely, and I like the addition of the small tree on the right
  22. Great idea for a topic, I've already found a few top-notch builders whose work I hadn't seen before I'll start with just 3 of the builders who inspire me most. @Legopard Jonas Kramm's builds are always magnificent: @Rolli Markus Rollbuhler also builds incredibly beautiful models: @Xenomurphy Thorsten Bonsch is another builder who does absolutely mind blowing stuff:
  23. Besides the wonderful crumbling walls, and leaning tower, I'm very impressed with the landscape. The trees are all excellent, and the addition of a rotting tree trunk on the ground helps convey the forest setting
