  1. This is a container truck based on the official 8052 set, built only with pieces included in the 42043 Arocs set. It has three functions: hand of god steering, motorised bed tipping and motorised bed unloading. You can switch between the two mororised functions by flipping the lever on the left when the bed is on the truck. Since the wheels included are too large and there is no gear rack, the steering function is far from ideal. If you have smaller wheels or a gear rack available, it is highly recommended to use them according to the 8052 instructions. The motorised functions work seamlessly. 2. While I don't care for any Technic car, or any licensed set for that matter, a simple browse through Brickset's most owned recent Technic sets will explain everything. It may not be the most representative sample, but it's the best open source info we've got. People keep buying these sets, you can see it online with people posting their collections, so no amount of moaning will change this in the near future. The few non-car sets that still get released not only get little to no love, but also Lego keeps kneecapping them on release with ridiculous prices and/or shoddy designs. Moreover, anecdotally I see more discounts on licensed sets rather Lego original sets which doesn't help either. For some inexplicable reason that terrible Material Handler never dropped below 100 euros, the same holds true for the Firefighting Plane now. Instead of dropping prices, Lego just retires these sets after 1-1.5 years and draws the conclusion that original sets don't sell. Meanwhile you can routinely find most of the licensed cars at -30% on Amazon or other online retailers.
  3. With so many August releases in other themes but nothing in Creator, should we wait for new releases until January?
  4. Realism didn't seem to bother Lego when they released a rear wheel drive pick up truck, multiple single wheel drive supercars and a Countach with a dual wheel axle like an 18-wheeler. And if if you think some yellow pins going up and down are more realistic than a proper cylinder, piston and crankshaft assembly just because they are the correct layout, I rest my case.
  5. Damn such a huge model and they still made the engine out of these lame pins instead of proper pistons.
  6. Pneumatics are confirmed, still not clear how they work. More pictures here: https://lucky-bricks.de/LEGO-Technic-42174-Emirates-Team-New-Zealand-AC75-Rennjacht
  7. Are the sails solid plastic or some sort of flexible material? They do seem to have pinholes on them. Quite uncharacteristic of Lego to include so many bespoke pieces for one set. Besides that, the model obviously does not float so it is quite useless. We have had a similar cheaper set a few years ago that floated.
  8. LOL Lego's products, especially 1:8 cars, have long been vastly inferior to lots of MOCs and alternative manufacturer sets. The F40, Pagani, LaFerrari and AMG One come to mind. Moreover, they just released the Countach, a set which is hardly better to a well known alternative build made with the restriction of having only the pieces of the 911 set.
  9. I counted 17 stickers on that F40. Only the front and rear badges and some minor black detailing around the headlights seem to be a print. I am especially bothered by the lazy stickers and the sticking out 2x2 tile in the rear side grilles, which could have easily be done with red grille pieces. In the end I just got a used 1/18 Bburago diecast for 17 euros shipped, Lego's value proposition with Speed Champions has never been there.
  10. All of his models redirect to his website which does not work anymore...
  11. That was a nice idea but it didn't work. One example is this: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-9492/BrickbyBrickTechnic/airport-catering-truck-42043-c-model/#details
  12. Sorry for digging up this old thread but I thought my question was not worth a new one. I recently finally got myself an Arocs, and browsing through rebrickable I found out that the user BrickByBrickTechnic has submitted a lot of free MOCs. However, the links redirect to his website which no longer works and the user is nowhere to be found anymore. Does anyone have the instructions for the MOCs stored in their personal storage by any chance and is willing to share them?
  13. I wanted to like the F40 but once again in Speed Champions the license buys you a sticker sheet with some bricks. They even have broken their own rules by applying stickers on curved pieces. This would peel and look like shit in a couple of years easily. I will wait for reviews and higher resolution photos to determine how much of the model's looks depend on the stickers, but I'm not getting my hopes up.
  14. Speed Champions August 2024: 76935 NASCAR Next Gen Camaro ZL1 + 76934 Ferrari F40 (from Brick Clicker) Finally a car that matters. I can't wait to see what the 8-wide F40 will look like.
  15. This year, last year, the year before that and so on until you go back to 2018 or so... If anything, for me this year was a slight uptick because of space, if these had any B-models I might had actually considered buying a couple of sets.
  16. Eh, the beach house looks more like a facade to me. Easy pass. And the dinosaur set is just a remake of the existing one, all three builds are the same! Considering that the existing set is on sale for almost a decade, dinos must be really popular. Can't deny that it is a well designed set though, Lego is killing it with the animal sets.
  17. Of course it had to be these lame pins again for pistons. Why has Lego stopped using proper crankshafts, cylinders and pistons everywhere? The scale argument is irrelevant, I'd prefer a proper inline 3 or v6 to this lame I6.
  18. If that was the case I would be willing to ignore many drawbacks. But when Lego has the balls to demand 200 bucks for a kilo or two of plastic with no reusability, they have to deliver perfection. While the set looks fine art first glance, deeper inspection unveils a lot of flaws. Both the truck and the trailer look really barebones, and the term "poverty spec Arocs" mentioned above fits like a glove. I'll hold any further judgment until the first reviews show up.
  19. They didn't even need to introduce a new part, there have been plenty of wide buckets in the past already. Deeply disappointing.
  20. Looking through all Lego Technic buckets in bricklink it does seem to be 24120 unfortunately. FFS.
  21. I'm surprised to say this, but in principle I like it. Anything with a trailer is super playable. If it had a B-model I would seriously consider it. However, if it is a double bucket (it does seem so from that single shot), what the hell have they been thinking? It makes it almost useless instantly. Also, I wonder how the excavator will work with only 2 cylinders. I guess the boom and bucket will move in a combined fashion? Are the trucks tyres same as the Arocs or is it smaller scale? Finally there doesn't seem to exist any mechanism for the trailer's ramp...
  22. According to this list posted on Reddit, it is indeed exclusive to Amazon. That's unfortunate for a run of the mill unlicensed Creator set. Does Lego not like money? (I know they do, a lot).
  23. Almost two months after release I haven't found the 31154 forest animals elsewhere except lego.com and amazon.de, so there are no discounts yet too. Not many reviews on youtube either. Why is there such limited availability? I would guess it is not a Lego exclusive since it is a Creator set.
  24. Unlike the hopeless supercar sets, the G-Wagon at least stands a chance to look fine in a Lego form thanks to its boxy shape, like the Defender. Not that I'm interested to getting that one either, just saying.
  25. A new video showcasing the DIY 9V crossing, which works brilliantly.
