  1. This is just awesome, congrats! If I am not mistaken, are you the designer of the CaDa Porsche 911? I own it and I enjoyed a lot its build, with a lot of functions and no colour vomit unlike modern Lego vehicles. I hope you come up with another Model Team inspired MOC that will be sold as a set, thus being affordable to everyone. I created a Bricklink wanted list for your MOC and it would cost 43 euros+shipping, unfortunately quite steep for a MOC of this size. The free instructions are of course appreciated.
  2. Amazing thanks a lot! Didn't know about that website.
  3. Hello everybody, Does anyone have the 8412 Nighthawk instruction booklet and is willing to upload a scan of the B model instructions? They are missing from every version I found online. Cheers.
  4. Held der Steine review is up and as expected he bashes the set for 17 minutes straight. Tl;dw: -Control+ lack of physical controller -Ridiculous price, considering also it's direct predecessor, the liebherr excavator and that 1400 of the parts are pins and 2L, 3L axles. -Useless license that only gets you a liebherr sticker sheet, doesn't look like the real thing (short boom, random red, gray and azure parts, tiny tracks). -Very low level of mechanisms involved. Each of the six functions is motor to axle to reel. No gears involved except the tracks. -just buy the mould king equivalent. It's better for one third of the price. Lego Technic is in a bad state right now.
  5. I am all for counting price per gram, price per piece is misleading considering how Lego has been increasing tiny pieces like Technic pins and 1x1 tiles. I weighed the two most recent Technic sets I had at hand in order to have some reference: 42102 Mini claas Xerion (2020): 10 euros, 112 grams, 0.089 euros per gram. 8049 Pneumatic Log loader (2010): 65 euros, 589 grams, 0.109 euros per gram. So the price per gram of the Liebherr is not as outrageous as the price per piece compared to the other sets given the electronics, but then one would expect better value per weight in larger sets.
  6. This little set keeps on giving! Was it designed by you? It is quite fascinating how this plucky little set caught your imagination so much. Are you working on any alternatives for the 42148 snow groomer by any chance? These 10 euro sets are currently the best Technic sets imo. They still offer good value, simple but nice functions, a B-model and there's a large following for them in Rebrickable. I contributed some alternative builds for the skid steer loader and snow groomer too.
  7. Excellent stats illustrating Technic's demise after 2018. I've never spent more than 100 euros on a new Lego set, I just can't justify so much for a toy. There's just nothing of interest anymore in the lowest price range, except some occasional good 10 euro sets. The 50-60 euro range is filled with the same boring, awful pullbacks and licensed cars without any functions. We even used to get great pneumatic sets with B models with 60 euros (that was the 8049, a set I bought during the dark ages because it was just so good). Coincidentally, I found this article including stats of licensed Technic sets: https://brickset.com/article/95495/licensed-technic-sets-where-will-it-all-end. We've reached 78% licensed sets in 2023 ffs. It's fascinating that 3 things that I despise about modern Technic (lack of B models, licensed sets and elimination of power functions) all picked up in 2019. Technic has just been reduced to expensive, single-use model kit merchandise.
  8. This is so great! Unfortunately it's very sad too, realising that Lego could release this as a 50-60 euro set instead of all the lame 1:16 cars and make some serious bank. Oh well. Do you intend on releasing instructions?
  9. Most people here are probably too old or far up their own a$$ to enjoy stuff. Unbrickme is clearly still young and enthusiastic, probably a bit immature for this forum's audiance, but I still appreciate his content. People are too hard on him, he is still learning. This interview was fine and offered something new to Lego Youtube.
  10. I disagree, 80s kids would be the only ones able to afford these sets, spending for their own hobby. No current kid can afford it, no parent in their right mind would spend 700 dollars on a toy for their kid, which they would break and then get bored of.
  11. Lego must have achieved a new sticker to piece record here.
  12. ABS plastic goes about 2 to 3 dollars per kg in Alibaba... Accounting for moulding, I suspect total manufacturing costs are probably not even 10% of a Lego set's final price. Lego operates on huge margins and the latest price hikes were just pure profit.
  13. I wouldn't be so optimistic. IMO post-2018 Technic is in a clear downturn and Lego doesn't seem to be changing direction. They abandoned B-models, they have ridiculously jacked up prices, they ditched Power Functions in most sets and introduced an inferior system, the theme has been dominated with car sets making it Racers 2.0, and the build quality has been lacking a lot in some sets, too. Simply because this year's sets are somewhat better from some awful sets of the past one or two years, it doesn't mean Technic is out of its dark ages.
  14. Finally something interesting after the never ending car borefest, but I'm not holding my breath until I see the price, which judging by the latest pneumatic set, the awful material handler, could be ridiculous. Also no B-model as usual is a no-go.
  15. Huh, they weren't that visible at front photos of the car so I should retract that statement. They still look uglier than the source material. Lego Technic just sucks for replicating such complex real life designs IMO.
  16. WTF are those huge ugly gaps above the wheels? No one at TLG bothered to cover them? The engine hood just resting on top of car without hinges is extremely lazy. The cockpit and A-pillar area looks really weird indeed. And as usual with any Technic car, this looks like a jagged mess of panels. The set seems to be somewhat of an improvement over the other dismal 1:10 sets, with a denser build and HOG steering, but that was a really low bar to clear anyway. The colour vomit underneath with orange(!) pins seems to persist, and 200 euros for a janky plastic toy car with minimal functions is ridiculous.
  17. Thank you. I think everyone should focus on the price to weight ratio of the sets and not the piece count, and so should the reviewers too. Lego set piece counts have been hugely inflated the past few years to justify price hikes, but it's mostly because of tiny pieces (see pins for Lego technic or 1x1 tiles for System sets for example). To justify such a price hike over the all-around superior 42100, the new Liebherr set should be mostly made out of 1x16 Technic bricks :P
  18. Great job! Considering it's a B model, it does look good, but the A-pillar throws me off a bit. I think it would be an easy fix to make it a bit more slanted.
  19. This is a Bulldozer alternative build for the 42148 Snow groomer, partly based on artemisovsky's beautiful MOC and partly on the official Snow groomer build. This one is a little less pretty but I was aiming for higher functionality. It features: Blade lifting via a lever Rubber wheels for better traction like the official set Adjustable ripper. A spare bush is used but not necessary. Free instructions here: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-140922/johnny.tifosi/42148-bulldozer-20/#details
  20. Ummm... yes. That's media independence basics. Keep shitting on Lego and you'd have the same treatment as Held did. If a channel depends on getting on getting a few hundred euros worth of handouts to be viable, why would I trust it over people that buy the sets themselves and review them?
  21. Why not? He's one of the few Youtubers that isn't sponsored by Lego... And how would he be, he has deservedly ripped them apart the past few years.
  22. The Held der Steine also mentioned a 600 euro Technic set coming today, I don't know if he just has the same source as everyone else though.
  23. Damn, you can buy a 2.6m high diecast version of the same crane for 980 euros... It really puts into perspective how overpriced any Lego set really is.
  24. I'm not going to get outraged over the price of the Liebherr, anything over 100 euros for a heap of plastic is way over my budget anyway... I am just wondering how many people actually buy those sets, because Lego has overdone it the past few years with all these overpriced sets, there have to be enough people able to afford to waste so much on toys. There used to be a time when the flagship sets were 150 euros and even that seemed crazy. I am more angry about the fact that year after year there is almost nothing worth buying at the affordable range besides the 10 euro sets. We've been overwhelmed with useless pullbacks and fugly car merchandise.
  25. Great job! The flat roof makes a huge difference. I agree with StudWorks that the headlights still need some work since they are the defining characteristic of every car, they should be a bit more square. If you dial them in it would be closer to perfection. Maybe try something like this? Just a dumb suggestion.
