  1. This MOC seems really good! The multiple iterations clearly go in the right direction towards a very nice little rolling crane! I remember when I was in high school, one of my friend had the #8854 and we had much fun building and rebuilding the A and B models together. Fond memories... You did well with changing the wheels: the first ones were too small and it made the chassis quite low. I like the fact that you added the rubber pads on the outriggers, by the way, it is a clever touch to add some stabilization effect. Do they lift the crane a little when deployed, by the way? How many parts does this MOC include, roughly?
  2. OK, my turn. 10 is a low number and my first list was more than twice as large and could not really manage to remove some of them on preference alone, so in the end I tried to keep the list as heterogeneous as possible: 42110 - Land Rover Defender → this set has everything: the looks, the functions, the gearbox, educative value, useful parts, nice Technic-System parts integration... and so many great alternates from the community! 10283 - NASA Space Shuttle Discovery → everybody will recognize this model and it will most often trigger dreams of space just looking at it, for it is so well done... and the functions are great, too! 42043 - Mercedes-Benz Arocs 3245 → a true masterpiece of engineering and electric-pneumatic communion, excellent design and so many useful parts! 76139 - 1989 Batmobile → how could it not be in this list? The most iconic Batmobile model is so well rendered in LEGO that it has just become a must-have for any Batman fan. 8043 - Motorized Excavator → a dream come true for an entirely remote-controlled excavator, coming with both complexity AND magnificence in engineering to have all the functions work perfectly. 71374 - Nintendo Entertainment System → iconic only for old-gamers, this set is also excellent because of its brilliant building techniques that makes it look like a masterclass of LEGO design. 8868 - Airtech Claw Rig → a legendary set, and the last one I built (3 times) before entering my dark age... I nonetheless kept it preciously in a perfect condition, hoping to build it again someday soon. 21322 - Pirates of Barracuda Bay → arguably the most beautiful boat LEGO set of all time, what definitely makes it the best is its 2-in-1 "before-after" concept: excellent! 42025 - Cargo Plane → LEGO has made many planes (especially in City and Creator themes), but this one shines both by the look and the functions. Huge and highly playable. A very good classic. 5893 - Offroad Power → kind of a pinacle for 3-in-1 "vintage" Creator vehicles, before the "Expert" line came along. I really like how nice and simple everything goes with this set.
  3. Oops... Sorry for the big mistake, I really thought that he was mentioning your Jeep @gyenesvi 😅 @Ondra, do not take into consideration what I was telling for the MOC, since it was for another one... But since you were interested in a Jeep alternate for #42110, then you definitely should consider building the Willy's Jeep MOC! 👍
  4. I did: it is very nice looking and cool to play with, clearly a must-have for anyone with a 42110 and who likes building alternate models. The instructions are great, the model is very respectful of the original car, and its gearbox with 2x4 speeds + a manual shift for RWD and 4WD is a clever touch. Its only downside is that when you play with it, you will end up having some falling parts, especially with the axle linking the wheels and the differentials, which can become a bit frustrating. But do not let this prevent your from building it, especially if you like Jeeps, it is really cool! Also, this MOC has not too many parts, so it will leave you with about 1000 spare parts of many kinds (including gears), and that you can use for something else if you want. As for your fear of the Defender's gearbox issues, allow me to reiterate my advice: do not build the original model, but the pimped up version by jb70. The gearbox is completely redesigned in this MOD, with no universal joints and no crackling sounds and with a better piston movement difference between gearbox speeds. And another killer feature is the one-piece body, which can be removed in a few seconds whenever you want to observe the inner machinery. For less than 200 quite common parts, you will get an ultimately playable Defender, way better than the original one. The only caveat I have to give is about the instructions: they are faultproof, but much more dense than the original, sometimes with parts you cannot even see on the illustration, due to of inferred symmetry or because you have to guess where they go depending on the other ones you can see. Only dive into this MOD only if you are already advanced in building Technic sets, because this one is really like a "hard mode". Many Technic lovers will appreciate not to be considered as a dumb beginner, though!
  5. The most tricky part of this set is its overly complex gearbox: unless you built it with extreme care to prevent friction as much as possible, you will have some non-working speeds. There are also some specific caveats to be aware of, such as with the universal joints, and you can check out RacingBrick's video on this, it helps a lot. Also be careful with the differentials orientation: this error is both very common and frustrating, because you have to dismantle everything to correct it. Now, if you want an unltimately playable 42100, you can check out jb70's Pimp Up MOD which gathers many good enhancements proposed here on EB since this set's launch: all it needs is 168 very common parts — and being ready to follow very dense instructions. Personally, I have built it a few days ago: it works really well. And you also get a very nice feature, which is an easily removable body: I love it!
  6. So just to be sure to understand well: this impacts all people that were receiving free sets for reviewing until now, or only some specific groups?
  7. I have tried a red version, but the panels are MUCH more expensive in that color. An orange version, however, was quite cheap when building from a 42093!
  8. Personally, I have always used Stud.io, so I am not really concerned by the migration to 64-bit only. However, out of curiosity, I have tried to run LDD on Crossover (which is a user-friendly frontend of Wine) a few months ago, and it was working well. It is a bit less easy to do than Parallels/VMware but at least it does not require a Windows license.
  9. Very clever articluations!
  10. Excellent design and impressive performance: bravo!
  11. I juste LOVE the 959! I will definitely check how you project goes!
  12. Excellent add-on, well thought for all features and going along well with the truck in terms of design. I also really liked your presentation for this "deluxe" version of your 8868 interpretation. Great work!
  13. Beautiful design and excellent integration, I hardly can imagine how much work you put into this. The attention made on every detail is impressive. Usually, a LEGO model is either Technic or not, but this one seems to picture something like a new genre, maybe "Technic inside, Creator Expert outside"? Really great model!
  14. Kind of an already old topic, but for those who would be wondering the same questions, the first page to check would be this one : Rebrickable - Submitting MOCs Basically, for free instructions, there is nothing to fear. Problems could potentially start when selling them, in particular if some copyrighted material is used (logos, pictures, specific designs, etc.). But for that, copyright holders should first stumble upon your MOC page and report the infringements to the site admins, which is quite unlikely: LEGO MOCing is growing popular but not to that point, and your MOC could only hurt official LEGO sets, so I would advise to avoid current licences used by LEGO for sets. Anyhow, Rebrickable has an internal approval system for MOCs, so basically once they publish your MOCs, you should be fine.
  15. Hey there, I really like the 42124 buggy, but I wanted it to be closer from the Tamiya RC model I had when I was younger, so I made a few mods: Removed the 2-color body to have it just dark azure Changed the back spoiler Changed the front bumper Added some top lights Changed the front wheels for smaller tyres It is not so much, but I really prefe it this way
  16. I am clearly interested in this MOC, too. Not that we get too few Porsches around here (there are sooo many, in fact), but because your model seems to achieve quite a great and respectful design, and with a moderate scale in Technic, which is quite a feat. I clearly lack white technic panels and mudguards in my parts collection, but if you release this MOC I will definitely consider buying whatever will be needed to build it. Please let us know how it goes!
  17. Same here : the #42131 never really appealed to me, mainly because of its price. I took it at 225€ to build it someday... or maybe exchange it for another too expensive vintage set !
  18. It turns out the Zetros, the Volvo and the buggy are half price too... I think they are dropping stock of the last models with hubs that cannot be closed with screws!
  19. So it is not the case in your country?
  20. The #42131 Caterpillar is at 225€ currently on the LEGO Shop (at least in France)... Half price & the retro taxi in bonus (thanks TechLUG for spotting this) !
  21. I understand you, I was in the same situation in April 2021, and it definitely was a most enjoyable build! The only problem with the motorized version is that the manual does not exist in PDF format: I had to use the paper version, which I am really not used to anymore !
  22. Just... Wow. How much time ago have did you start working on this? And are you able to estimate the time you spent on it?
  23. That is exactly what I was just thinking while reading the preceding posts!
  24. The grabber arm is just EPIC!! I really like this MOC: sure it would be better with some colors, but everything else is great. I find that garbage trucks are really too rare in Technic despite their highly interesting functionalities, and yours is a serious milestone in this domain. Congratulations!
