  1. Right a few hours after I say in another topic that the Chiron has very few alternate models... BAM, Nico presents one! And my, does it look good!
  2. I would say it completely depends on which criteria are used to define what is a good (super)car. Personally, I would find difficult to give any title to any set among GT3, Chiron, Defender or Sian without being more specific: 42056 : as brunojj1 says, it is a pioneer which installed many of today's standards. I guess its goal was to answer the question "what would a supercar mean with modern technic parts?". The result, even imperfect, clearly delivers in this endeavour. 42083 : this set's main goal was clearly about showing TLG could achieve a (nearly) perfect sequential gearbox within a great-looking car and we can agree it worked. The scarce number of alternate models despite the set's lifespan suggests that people mostly don't want to disassemble it, so it succeeded. 42100 : I see this one as as an attempt to do a supercar without the "super" : its inventory clealy longs for supercar models, but TLG wanted to make a sidestep, something different from the flagship, which strong educative value on gearbox and transmission, but also for Technic/System parts integration. And since it was packaged within a reasonable budget (we can find it under 110€ sometimes), I am pretty sure it had much success. 42115 : this one is an accomplishment, a combination of everything the 3 others have tried to do in their own way and polishing the whole thing within a bold car design. And it does that very well : it has only few flaws (and no major one), but so many qualities that, even without innovating, it becomes the ultimate LEGO supercar.
  3. As far as I know, CaDA has taken care of modifying the design of each part just enough so that their chances to be defeated in court for design patterns stay low : I happen to have the Red Supercar and indeed, even if their TLG's counterpart are highly recognisable, the parts all have differences visible enough to confirm that they are not strict copycats.
  4. I agree, as I also have used this situation, however I would not be surprised if those low prices were linked to prices differences across countries. Are we sure that it was only within the official LEGO store and not between TLG and the resellers also?
  5. For those who believe that TLG will be evening the prices across european countries, this seems untrue: in France for example, the Sian is not 400€ but 380€, and the Defender is not 200€ but 180€. Same goes for the Pirate Ship and the Medieval Castle, both at 110€ and not 120€. So in the end it seems more like a global price raise and not a rebalancing of prices. TLG is just trying to hide this raise behind the uneven prices excuse. Leverage the end of 2021 as much as you can, european AFOLs!
  6. I agree with this. One could argue that dispatching popular minifigs across expensive sets has progressively become a commercial tactic to raise customers' expenses, but it should be checked with statistics over a long period of time. In any case, anyone starting a collection should understand what it means, and even what it could mean in the long run.
  7. I just never had the idea of checking this on my side... Since I started my Technic life early with 80's sets when only frictionless pins existed, it never came to my mind. However, when using 3L pins, I always try to follow the instructions' way to insert them inserted, I mean which way to put the physical frontier between the 1L and the 2L side : am I the only one?
  8. Here we go : http://celerii.free.fr/_trucs/MOC-87154 _Instructions_25.pdf (about 300 MB) Hope this helps!
  9. I have made a single instructions PDF with all the pictures: @Pattspatt, may I publish the link here?
  10. A big thanks for sharing! A friend of mine has kept his 8872 from when he was a kid and I know he loves it, so I am sure he will be much interested with this revival MOC!
  11. I love it, too. The only thing that disturbs me a little is the "bricky" aspect of the roof and the hood, but I do not know if it could be done differently. Everything else is top-notch to me: exterior, interior... heck, even the underside is just beautiful! Also I love removable engines, and yours seems great. Kudos! Just one question: the 2 gray ovoidal shapes in the back, are they audio speakers?
  12. Very nice design and great performance in RC, congrats! Just one thinng: the ground clearance is quite low on the front side, is it on purpose?
  13. I do not "follow" any YT channel, but when I look for reviews/info on specific sets, I tend to check videos of Sariel and RacingBrick (for Technic) and JANG (for non-Technic) first, if proposed by my search engine. Granted, their style is not evolving much, but this is precisely why I do like this, because I know that their "format" usually answers most of my questions. I also like Sariel's humor with sets' features and his pets. Then, I often double-check with written reviews and photos, especially for big sets or when I am not convinced. Of course, for sets those 2 have not reviewed, I look at other guys' videos, but often find them rather inconclusive or too ad-like (like "this set has flaws but in the end it is so great you have to buy it, don't forget to click on my (sponsored) link below"), so generally I focus on dedicated blogs or forums such as EB or TechLug (french).
  14. As a Claw Rig lover, I can only bow before the work done on this MOC. Great fidelity to the original, excellent integration, tons of playability, and very efficient pneumatics management: this is truly amazing and you can be proud! Do you have an idea of how many hours you spent on this project, and within what timeframe?
  15. @Jurss, I just love your mobile LEGO space! Now you just have to install retractable tables and put a foldable chair and it will be epic :)
  16. I never really thought of a "park" position in a LEGO car's gearbox, but it definitely makes sense: well done!
  17. Very cool design, seems like a great add-on to the car transporter indeed!
  18. I confirm this is a great ALT for the Chiron. I have built it 3 months ago and did not disassembe it since then: it is both nice and faithful to the original car, but also very playable. The convertible roof never ceases to amaze all people I show it to — but I am still unsure to understand fully how it works. The sequential gearbox too was an original thing for me in its implementation, and really enjoyed discovering it. I changed a little the mirrors too, because I found them a bit too flimsy. I also found the HOG being a little too loose and strenghten it a little bit to avoid crackeling gears. Beside that, it's excellent!
  19. Nope, there is no mention of a torsion bar in the Pimp MOD description. But if you manage to incorporate this idea within the MOD, I am pretty sure its author will be interested!
  20. After reading the whole topic, it seems that globally the social network a dragging many MOCers out of here, because of the larger volume of feedback... I am not expert on the topic (I am not a MOCer), but I can imagine that it is rather the "nice" feedback that is sought on those networks, for it is much easier to gather there. Please consider that: those netwokrs are essentially thought for that kind of feedback (most of them have only a "thumb up" or "like" and no "thumb down" or "dislike") it is much easier to click on a "thumb up" icon than writing a constructive message the proportion of non-knowledgeable (in LEGO and/or mechanics) is far superior than here the volume of people is MUCH larger than here etc. Which brings me to the idea that "nice feedback" should not be a goal here, because if that idea becomes enforced, then EB will definitely be wiped out by social networks. To me, the correct idea should be "if you are seeking nice feedback, get on FB/Instagram/whatever, but if you want to challenge yourself and make progress, then come on EuroBricks". Again, being not a MOCer, this is just my 2c.
  21. A sequential gearbox with paddle shifters is definitely a new interpretation regarding the #8880. If you are telling that in relation to global Technic evolution, I'd say yes, but there are not dozens of ways to design a car gearbox, though.
  22. Very nice! I wish that this MOC could have a removable HOG just like the 2CV, but this is the only shortcoming I could see, everything else is awesome, especially considering the scale... Any fan of the Fiat 500 will surely want to build it!
  23. Great, I am sure you will get many likes! By the way, you probably already thought of that already, but you should definitely make a small video to show how it works
  24. Not only do we see rather few helicopter sets or MOCs, but this one is just brilliant it its features' number and clever implementation... and furthermore, it is an alternate model. A true masterpiece, I will happily build it when possible!
