  1. Hi JDude, Welcome to EB! Please read the site guidelines before you continue. This is a site for adults only, which means 18+. We do allow under age people, if they act maturely. But stating you are 13 is not the best way to start Jim
  2. Hi Mike, Don't post images larger than 1024 wide! And Paul, when you quote someone, please remove the images from the quote (unless it's really necessary).

    Apollo 11 - Saturn V

I really need to find this set, before it is "the one that got away". Not sure why I never purchased it. Being a space fanatic, I can't NOT have this set.
  4. You should definitely enter the competion. You have a pretty cool MOC and there's indeed the raffle prize. I'd say you have nothing to lose
  5. A bit late to the party, but last Monday was the 46th Anniversary of the first Lunar Landing, still one of Mankind's crowning achievements. EB member Saabfan has created a fantastic Saturn V rocket, complete with Lunar Lander and supporting modules. It even has Neil and Buzz walking on the moon. Head over to mission control in the Town forum to check out this engineering marvel.
  6. A bit late to the party, but last Monday was the 46th Anniversary of the first Lunar Landing. 46th Anniversary of the first Lunar Landing The 46th anniversary of the first moon walk is a day that space buffs everywhere still celebrate. More than a half billion people watched the televised first moonwalk July 20, 1969, where Neil Armstrong uttered the now-famous words, "That is one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." Astronauts Armstrong, Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin and Michael Collins left Earth on July 16 from Cape Kennedy in Florida. Armstrong and Aldrin stepped onto the moon a few days later. The men spent 21 hours, 36 minutes on the moon before joining back up with Collins in the command module. The mission accomplished the objective set by President John F. Kennedy in 1961, which was to land a man on the moon then return to Earth. CBS Coverage of Apollo 11 Lunar Landing Apollo 11 - Saturn V Being an avid fan of everything that has to do with space and space travel, it's obvious I love to see great LEGO space projects. I especially like iconic projects depicting historic scenes. One of the most iconic space crafts is the Lunar Lander called Eagle carried into space by the Saturn V missile, during the Apollo 11 mission. Recently I stumbled upon a great project on LEGO Ideas, based on this event. The project is created by EB member Saabfan and it comprises the Saturn V missile and all modules used during the mission. The rocket is about 1 meter/130 studs high (aprox. 1:110 scale), has 1179 bricks and lots of features: Removable 1st rocket-stage with the main rocket engine Removable 2nd rocket-stage with rocket engine Removable 3rd rocket-stage with the Apollo spacecraft Apollo spacecraft with the "Eagle" Lunar Lander and the Lunar Orbiter The rescue rocket on top of the whole spacecraft Two minifigure astronauts on the Moon for displaying Apollo 11 CMS and Lunar Lander Below is a great picture of the Eagle (Lunar Lander) and in the background you see the Columbia CMS (Command/Service Module). The flag you see in the image is not there anymore. Buzz Aldrin saw it knocked over by the rocket blast as he and Neil Armstrong left the moon. This is a picture of the Eagle still connected to the CMS. Here's detailed picture of the Saturn V missile designed by Werner von Braun and the probably less known Arthur Rudolph. Here you see all the modules comprising the complete (proposed) set. It shows the EMV (Emergency Escape Vehicle) on the left, followed by the Command Module, Service Module, Lunar Lander and the different stages of the rocket. Neil and Buzz doing research on the surface of the moon, with the lander in the background. Don't know about you, but I would love to have this set on my shelf
  7. Instructions are probably not needed, but the pictures could be better. It's all a bit dark en black now. Hard to distinguish the parts.
  8. Welcome on EB! And a nice job on the Helicopter. The mechanics are well done
  9. Your model looks awesome and has great features. I was on the fence, since it somehow feels a bit like "guns popping out", but since you've done two transformations in the bodywork (the doors and the fenders) I will give you the benefit of the doubt The weapons are indeed very well hidden
  10. Agreed! This is definitely sufficient. Agreed! This feels indeed like a MASK toy!
  11. Sure, no problem. Manual operations are perfectly fine. Gears and knobs are not mandatory. NOT allowed is removing parts from the body and attaching them somewhere else. I totally missed your question, sorry. Dark grey is grey so that's indeed allowed. So are light grey and very light grey. There's no limit on the quantity of grey. Lights are okay! There's no limit on the quantity of studded details. Yes it is (see my answer to Milan). Indeed
  12. I was about to post this link here, because I saw your post on FB What do you mean by pimped? Like a lowrider or something?
  13. Thanks for the explanation. I think we can focus on the HoF now
  14. Nice review! I think this is a typical set for under the christmas tree. Parents will look at the box and think "that's a cool pickup, our boy will like this a lot". And he probably will. The functionality is very simple, but youngsters will love the tough look. I haven't bought it yet, but I was planning to do so in the near future.
  15. Is a comment like this really necessary?
  16. It would be great if you created a topic on EB with the content of your review, instead of linking to your blog.
  17. I will close this topic. @DrJB if you feel the need to answer to my response, please send me a PM.
  18. Please stop bumping your topic to promote your Kickstarter project. Your project is clearly not "mature" enough to gain enough interest. Doesn't mean you should quit, but it still needs a lot of work. My advice is; keep working on your project and try again at a later stage.
  19. Expression your opinion is one thing, but we can do without the comics to make your point.
  20. Agreed! You have my approval. It doesn't turn into another vehicle, but there is enough transformation in the chassis/bodywork (both actually). I have stated in another topic that this is sufficient for the contest. Nice job! Very clean build.
  21. This is unreal You mention it is still a WIP. What exactly are you finalizing? When can we see the final version?
  22. Is it this time of the year again First of all; I don't mind you (DrJB) asking why his topic got closed (the one you mentioned). Secondly; I do wonder why it's not clear? Like z3_2drive mentioned, I have stated the reason in my last post: Or as BusterHaus quoted: After each wave we have the same discussion. Why aren't the new sets available in the US of A? Each time the conclusion is the same "we don't know for sure, it's pure speculation". So creating a new topic just to ask is useless to begin with, but if you still like to ask this question, ask it in the "Speculation & Information" topic of that year. After all, that's where the Speculation takes place You can't see who locked the topic, but since I always make a post before locking it, it's pretty safe to assume it was me. (admittedly, Alasdair abused his editor rights to make a lost post, which he should not have done) By the way; if you feel your topic got locked without proper reason, don't hesitate to send me a PM. I will gladly explain why I locked it. That's basically what I am doing, since I got several reports about this topic. So yes, I am listening to the members
  23. Google NXT Clicking Noise. There's lots of info.
