I'm not a huge Doctor Who fan, but do we know how different it is from the Dimensions release then?

Well done. I don't have any of the original Classic Space era sets. I didn't get into it until end of Space Police 1 onto Blacktron II/M:Tron era. But these are perfect. I'd definitely consider picking these up too! The styling fits with the scale. Keep up the good work.

I love M:Tron. I think the Celestial Forager is the most apparent to be M:Tron. The rest are a neat idea, but I guess that is where the word reloaded/revamped comes in. I like what you did with the front of the vehicles though to emulate the weird dragon head shaped piece. I may have to borrow that if I ever do a reloaded version of M:Tron which I have considered before, but it keeps getting pushed back on the list for other projects. Keep up the good work! I'd like to see more.

Fright Knights Conspiracy: Basil the Batlord is a Vampire?
TheLegoDr replied to Eggyslav's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I was already in my dark ages when this happened, so I had no idea of this theme. With that said, he does come off as a vampire in general, but the evidence here is compelling. I also had never played that racers game. So that is the actual license? It shows sharp teeth? -
[MOC] Detective's Office/Newsagent/Barber Shop modulars
TheLegoDr replied to ReplicaOfLife's topic in LEGO Town
Very well done. Smashing job. I really like the brown building (so far that is my favorite). I really like Al's also, but the brown one takes the cake. I like how it all comes together. I will have to definitely borrow some ideas here and there, at least in my head. Keep up the good work. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
TheLegoDr replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I think with that price and size, it WILL NOT fit in with the Modulars. I think the scale will be larger and it will look out of place for standard modulars. If you look at all of those hyper detailed MOCs, they are all extra tall to accommodate the scale. Just picture Pet Shop or something similar next to them..they just won't look right for the standard scale. I was trying to build my own Modular scale (approximately 30-ish bricks high), but it was proving to be difficult to not make it look too squashed. I may or may not continue depending on the official set if/when it gets revealed. -
Very interesting seeing MOCs with Official Modulars. For some reason, with all of the 16 wides (or non 32 wides rather) your 32 wides seem wider, even though they aren't. They are just robust buildings. I have a lot of modular ideas in my head, but I never get around to finishing them. I'm too cheap I think to buy new bricks for multiple MOCs haha... Keep up the good work.

How do you dust between the studs on LEGO?
TheLegoDr replied to The Steward's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I have used a soft bristle toothbrush. I don't know if a paintbrush would be softer, but that might be something to look into for me in the future. Everyone raves about compressed air, but it doesn't seem to get that much off, just the big loose stuff. -
Very well done! I love the red-brown front facade area. Especially the tiles on the SNOT bricks on the bottom. I may have to "borrow" that idea. Very clever. Nice part usage for the sewing machines. I like the desk with the tailor and the fabrics on the wall. I've been meaning to do a roof in an olive green, I just haven't figured out how I wanted to do the rest of the building. I like how it looks with the roof colors and window design. I'm not sure how well it works with the med nougat color though. Something seems off with the right side lower level stone area with the stairs. I can't put my finger on it. But the rest of the building is a keeper. Great job on the interior also. Do you keep all of these buildings together or take them apart to build new buildings? It'd be interesting to see your street.

I've filled out a lot. I've never won anything. I don't know if they have a limit or a certain time period I should do them during to better my chances. I've heard of other people winning though.

Wow, my sarcasm was lost on people about 10 pages back...I haven't kept up with this thread to alert people that pretty much anything written online has a sarcastic tone.

I'm glad you were joking about Doom. I'm not that big of a fanboy, but I had the need to correct you for some reason. With that said, I bought this set for the minifigures a few years ago. Looking back, I don't really care about the figures today like I did in 2013. The building is decent for the size of the set though. Thanks for the review.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
TheLegoDr replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
You have to buy all of them once you get into it. It is required. You have to come up with the money and buy all of them that have been retired... OR you can just buy the sets you like. -
The only LEGO that is visible to anyone is in our guest room, but we don't have people stay in there too often. None of them have commented about it. As far as I know, the mother in law thinks it is childish and doesn't talk to me about it. My own mom tries to buy me as much LEGO as she can since she loved doing it when I was a kid (I'm 31 now)... Other guests don't comment or don't know about it. I don't think I hide it, but I am not flamboyant with my hobby either.

Very clever indeed. I really like the new addition. The alleyway is needed and it fits here rather well. I like the idea of the newspaper kiosk area. I really like the Ace Brickman extra signage. And the opening on the alleyway for the Highlander window makes perfect sense. It would work better if you had them both on the same baseplate, but I understand with the widths how that wouldn't work. -
Lego Zissou Life Aquatic Rejected by Lego Ideas
TheLegoDr replied to T-Brick27's topic in General LEGO Discussion
It is a nice build. I love the movie. But it definitely does not fit with LEGO's core values. (not that everything that is released fits with them either). But I can understand why they'd have the problem with it. -
I've considered building a blue one to represent Dharma from Lost. But I don't know if I'm a big enough fan to justify the costs thanks to that final season...
-
Why would anyone want new figures? We buy these for the sets! Get your heads in the game, people! (time will tell what LEGO has in store for us)

Nicely done. I like this arrangement. Plus having an interior to the upper Al's is nice. Seems more complete now. I will definitely take some stylish cues from this if/when I get DO. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
TheLegoDr replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
And there is no guarantee they'd even do another Mini Modular set. I don't know any sales figures, but multiple people have commented how it didn't sell well. I don't know how truthful that is. I'd love more Mini Modulars, but we don't know if they plan to release one anyway. -
Double points only lasts 4 days this year? Hmm, I guess I'll be looking elsewhere to ordering things since the promos aren't as enticing. Not that LEGO cares, they already got their money from the other retailers.

I have a different set-up than most people. If I want a set built, it will be built. All of the sets that have been torn down, have been sorted with the rest of the pieces. So I couldn't say for sure what is the best way to store a set unbuilt, outside of it already being in the box to be built to begin with (alliteration at its finest)...

I love it. The offset looks great. I think I will borrow that idea, although I'll change it in my own way. But I like the depth it creates vs other mods. -
Interesting idea. But what about people who have no idea how to create instructions and who can't use ldd? Otherwise I like the idea
