  1. You would think it is time for a bank, only to house all of the money TLG is receiving from us Modular buyers...
  2. Very neat idea. I will agree about the gray being "off" only because I'm used to bright LEGO buildings. Definitely more realistic, but I don't want my LEGO realistic As far as the side alley with the flowers. I love that. The simple grill bricks really add to the flower bed and I like the idea of having something to break up the scenery a bit. I don't know how it would work with my layout, but I like the idea. Keep up the good work.
  3. Very simple exterior that works extremely well. The colors and awnings really pop. I'd prefer to see it as a 16 modular (of course), but this works too. Keep up the good work.
  4. It's always tough to say what modifications will be worthwhile. I think the white skis will remain the best. Those orange skis might look okay, but at the same time, they look pretty gawdy. Tough to say. And the regular blue door vs the earth blue trim, again who am I to judge, but it isn't my favorite substitution. I will agree that the dark red roof is the iconic look of CC. Those and the tower are the only things I truly like about that building. When I built mine, I substituted things and rebuilt it to accommodate 6 high doors so it blends in with the rest of them. I have since torn my CC apart. I got bored by it. The more power to anyone who pays those ungodly amounts for a few pieces of plastic. I don't care enough about having 100% original sets because I can think of all of the other LEGO I could buy for some of those prices. But now you have them.
  5. Interesting. I have also been building the Ghostbuster's HQ. Currently my first floor is about 13 high and my second floor is 14 high. But it still feels too tall compared to other modulars. At least in my head. I haven't built it fully yet. I'm still in the design phase. But nice job with the lighting. That always spruces up a MOC. Are there more pictures of the Ecto-1? I assume it would have been modified to accommodate the smaller opening. My HQ is built to house the official set, that's why mine is taller and bigger.
  6. Very interesting build. I do like the colors together. I don't particularly like the multiple angled parts. It feels wavy too me in the pictures. At the top/sides of the windows it rounds out, then smooth, then the 2x2 slope brick, then below that awnings. Something feels weird to me. But I do like the interior details too. The bar and singers stage are great. The kitchen is very clever. The poker game is a fun idea. I could definitely see looking at this for inspiration in one of my own builds.
  7. It is also possible LEGO has since tightened up security protocols and won't let as much slip out this year compared to last year. It's interesting (funny to me) if the next modular will be a corner building. I have lately been in the modular building mood so I plan to disassemble all of my modulars are rebuild my own creations since every LEGO show has doubles of all of the modulars. Might as well add some variety. Well, the reason it is funny to me is because I have since started 3 separate modulars that I have ideas for, but two of them are corners...very odd that I prefer building corners I guess.
  8. But don't North America and European boxes differ? Maybe it isn't as simple as just releasing them elsewhere also. They'd have to print up new boxes and maybe new manuals? I don't know what else is different usually. I have yet to see that many UA sets in stores around me. The first wave was all on clearance at Target back in February, so I picked up a few then, but haven't seen wave 2 at Target at all. I did see some at Walmart on clearance, but they were still a little high for what I wanted to pay. As for wave 3, are those officially released then? I have yet to see those anywhere. Odd that the series didn't sell well. It was full of fun play value that I could see from the few sets I picked up.
  9. It's interesting to read the comments here. I originally was really psyched with the gargoyle headpiece, but after seeing the final product I may be the only person that doesn't care for it. I'll pick up one, but I won't army build like I originally intended. I think the wings should be more folded back. I do like the idea of them using these for flying monkeys if that ever gets created. The bigfoot looks decent. It was safe to say they'd re-use that headpiece. I'll probably pick up a couple of him. Skeleton trick or treater may be the best in the bunch for me. I'll pick up a handful of him for sure. The spectre has a few neat pieces so I'll pick him up. The face could use some work, so I do agree there.
  10. Palace Cinema has a green one. So some variety. But mostly orange.
  11. Very clever and great part usage. However, how is anything on that ship staying together? the hand and the giant tooth in the front connected to pants? I don't understand. Where are the connection points?
  12. I was under the impression it was Dutch inspired. Certainly the stair stepping is from there. However, the tiles on each "step" is probably there to represent a stone slab on each pillar. I think maybe LEGO just has it too exaggerated. My reference picture . I agree on how ugly it is. Some people love it, some don't. I am definitely in the latter. I don't mind the color scheme and even the Dutch style has grown on me, but there are so many misses on it, that I want to forget it ever existed. I had planned on building my own version also, taking a few design cues that I liked, but revamping the whole thing. When I first attempted it, it looked nothing like the official set outside of the front steps being curved, so I scrapped the whole idea. I may revisit it again in the future. I am interested to see yours.
  13. Your work is always impressive. It's nice to see another one from you. I wish I could have seen your set-up up close at the convention. Maybe in the future. I like the simplistic nature of this one. The front facade is very uniform, yet the little depth that is added really makes it stand out. Color scheme is always well chosen. It's not my favorite of yours, but it is yet another worthwhile build for your set-up. Have fun with the next one. I can't wait to see it.
  14. This looks very well done. May I ask, why is this one of your favorite ships? I don't see the appeal, but am curious as to others viewpoints. I have one in box still, but I can't bring myself to open/build it. It doesn't matter about the iconic nature or screentime it has. It is just an unusual ship to me. Thanks for sharing. Well done.
  15. Day one purchase for sure. I attempted day one purchase of Exo Suit and Research Institute...sold out before I got a chance. I lucked into the early December release of the RI before it sold out again. After the Exo Suit sold out, I lost interest in it, so not too upset I didn't purchase it. But this is a must have, so I will not risk it.
  16. I think it provides a great weathered look. However, for some reason I cannot bring myself to mix old and new bricks together. I feel so dirty doing it haha... But I commend others for doing it. Kudos to you.
  17. That's the tricky thing. Will they re-release a set in such a short amount of time? Surely it could sell well a second time. But it was also found at clearance prices for a while. AND it had Davy Jones, which is a selling point. A new updated version a few years later, tough to say. What could be improved or changed? Is there a market for another one? SW re-releases sets all of the time, but how different are they really?I would imagine they will have the license again, but I can't say for sure what it would entail. Maybe finally a set from the 3rd movie?
  18. Looking at it, the shaping is spot on for Burton-esque Batmobile. I don't like the wheel hubs at all and while the official Burton mobile has a larger rounded area, this seems too out of place on the LEGO version. either way, if I pick up the set or not (likely not due to that price), I will probably bricklink this version of the Batmobile with some MODs. Thanks for the more up close picture of it. I have yet to look at it in detail.
  19. I'd like to see a hospital for sure. I don't know if they could justify it size wise with enough detail. There is definitely a story to go along there. Maybe a good time to introduce a baby sized figure (outside of Maggie) or possibly re-use the Maggie dress or use pieces in a clever way to simulate a new baby (like the head in the upside down turban). Whatever it may be, I will most likely pick it up. I just hope for interesting designs and piece usage with an interesting color scheme.
  20. I have hardly seen any of the Middle Earth sets in stores period, especially not in large quantities. I really haven't seen any in multiple months. My wife picked up the new Lake town set in February when they were having a big Target clearance sale and I haven't seen any of them since. February! Didn't they come out in October-December sometime? Very short lifespan. I just bought Smaug recently thinking it won't be around come Christmas. It looks like I may be right in my thinking.
  21. I like the tree trunk. I've been looking at different ways to go about it instead of simply brick building it. I would assume this has some SNOT work underneath? As far as the build. Definitely decent. The coloring is an interesting choice. I do like the story though. Very well written. And I haven't heard of lesser of two weevils, only two evils. Maybe I always heard it wrong?
  22. Typically on a day off from work I forget to do it since I'm rarely around computers on those days. But I think I have hit a good chunk of the days. I don't expect to win though. Set the bar low, then you'll never be disappointed.
  23. I know I definitely don't need as many as I do, but it does help to have so many. With each individual project, after sorting bricks that I need I just toss a separator in with them in case I need it. Instead of accidentally misplacing one and then I'm in trouble, I have plenty of extras with each project so I don't have to go searching again.. But I do wonder what the sales numbers are on the individually packaged versions...
  24. Aren't prices always different on a global scale?
