  1. One nice thing is how similar it is to the town hall.
  2. Nicely done. I was planning on extending the width also to make better use of the room and to change the Al's sign a bit. I hadn't considered 18 wide though, that is definitely interesting and adds a lot to the typical streetscape. I can't wait to see more updates.
  3. Masterfully done. This has been on my list of things to build, but I don't think I would be able to do it justice. Especially after seeing what you've done here. Plus, the technical stuff trying to make it transform! Keep up the good work. I can't wait to see the smaller scale versions too (maybe I'll check back often to look at those for inspiration for my own)
  4. Amazing for sure. These are beautifully done. I love the details you were able to include. My daughter loves Frozen (like most little girls) so I won't show her this, otherwise she'll ask me to build them!! Keep up the great work. Any other princesses planned?
  5. Well done! I literally just finished reading Court and City of Owls and have Night of the Owls waiting for me. I can't wait. It was a very interesting storyline. I may read it again soon. The build looks spot on to what I'd expect is going on. I think the Star Wars heads work well for the Talons, although It'd be great if they were more rounded eyes. Oh well, not much you can do when you try to stay purist. I'd love for LEGO to release something Owl head related. That'd be great.
  6. where can you pre-order them?
  7. I went searching after multiple people in my hometown mentioned they found some. I found a few packets at one Target, mostly duplicates. I have yet to see them elsewhere. Granted, I'm in a different city than a lot of these comments.
  8. Actually I'd be okay with more princesses in regular LEGO format instead of Friends style. My daughter would like it too. Although, I'd like some variety in figures also of course. There are a lot of great options in terms of Disney characters, so I'm hoping for a Maleficent personally. In terms of regular series, there are still lots of options and re-hashes that LEGO will/can do. But who knows what they have planned.
  9. ^Actually yes you will. The translucent pieces are made from polycarbonate. They don't flex as well and actually push out the minifigure leg holes. All of my Iron Man legs were damaged because I had them displayed on those pieces. I hope yours are okay, but I've heard lots of problems involving polycarbonate and regular ABS. But good idea using it as a floating mechanism. As far as super jumpers go, I would say they are here to stay. If anything, they might tweak the mold, but like stickers and flickfires, they are a LEGO "tradition." Although, the new stud shooters might replace some of the flickfires.
  10. BlockLogo - Depends which theme you like more. Since all have came out this year and none are licensed, they should be available for a few years. I don't own any of them, so I can't say which is best. Although the Ferris Wheel has more play value, so that could be neat with the power functions. But since I'm a modular collector, I will be getting Detective Office before any of the others, if at all. (Plus, it is cheaper). Steph 104th - I may not be the best person to ask in this regard, since I would only want the Final Duel and not the other two... But it looks pretty true to the source material. You get the new Vader and Palpatine and some new Royal guards...it looks like a worthwhile set. Now my own question, Which do people prefer: Mini Cooper or the new Ferrari?
  11. They need time to process the order. Can you imagine how many people are buying LEGO at any moment during the day?? I'm going to go out on a limb and say you weren't the only fan buying something that needed to get put into a cardboard box. A lot of other things need to happen. I'm sure multiple steps happen before it actually gets put into a box. Plus, as stated, it does depend on where you are located vs where their shipping facility is located. I'm in the USA, but I'm within the 3 day radius of their shipping area in Mississippi, so I always get mine within a few days.
  12. But this isn't a re-release, just like the X-Wing UCS set wasn't a re-release. Things are definitely different, just not enough to make fans who own the first copy to jump up and down for joy. But they are different products and people who didn't get it the first time around, I can understand why they would be happy. I certainly didn't have the first UCS X-Wing and I did end up picking up this second version, but I wasn't dying to have one. I just got it because it looked neat in the LEGO store. If they re-released Cafe Corner, they certainly would change it ever so slightly and I would pick one up since I didn't get it the first time around, but at the same time, I don't find that to be that great of a set either (blasphemy I know). With the larger audience now, it is possible LEGO sees the market to add in a few other sets that are basically the same version. Their research might show better numbers than what we are thinking there actually is.
  13. I always get ice cream in winter. It's fun. Nothing like being cold and eating cold foods!
  14. It does look like a more substantial set for sure. I don't think I'd like having a full roof, but with it split like this, it certainly works. The Hero Factory fists do make it look more like fists here instead of an architectural detail. The lion head works moderately well, but I'm not sure on the actual style of the building if it works. Granted, there is one in Market Street too and I don't know how well it goes there either. With that said, I don't understand the blade/spikes. It feels like lion fangs? So that throws me a bit, but the rest I like. In all honesty, I like DO for what it is, but it does feel small, but I liked the roof with the water tower and everything. I think the Agency part certainly needs to be taller, but a straight addition of another floor doesn't make it feel right either. This adds a lot of character to it, but I think I'll go in another direction when I MOD mine (when I get it). Keep up the good work though. Very interesting MOD to look at. I'll definitely check back at it. It stands out among the other Modulars.
  15. Look, with new hat! The set is a re-hash and everyone I've talked to mentioned how upset they were. However, they also all mentioned they planned on buying one or two to MOD...so even if they are upset, the set will still be a success, plus all of the people who didn't get a chance to get it. I'd say LEGO knows what they are doing whether we like it or not. I'm hesitant to spend 80 on a set I already have, but I'd like to MOD something too for our LUG's winter village.
  16. Well, it's tough to say. Modular hint a few years ago was that the designer couldn't make soup which makes one think of a restaurant. Yet they didn't release the restaurant until the year after. Maybe next year will be a candy shop or gingerbread house or something equally "sweet."
  17. Well, Brickset pulls from the LEGO server directly. Bricklink has fan input. With that said, element ID numbers change all of the time, whether the mold has a slight variation or just a new mold altogether for the same part. But that would indicate that sometimes things don't appear complete per Brickset, even though it is for that specific ID number.
  18. Custom orcs are neat looking, but I'm not going to spend $20 each. Plus, I prefer official LEGO. But they did a good job with them for sure. It would be neat to see a large Orc army with lots of variation. Although I do love symmetrical/uniform armies, orcs tend to not have that as much.
  19. They also said on facebook that each time they "re-release" a set, they have considerable build differences to justify the set...I don't see anything considerable about this change to re-release it... Don't get me wrong, it's a beautiful set. But since I already have it other than the few changes, do I dare spend $80 for that...sure, I could use the pieces and make another WV set myself, which isn't a bad idea. But I don't know if it is worth it in the long run. I guess I'll see how I feel in October..
  20. Interesting thread. It is neat to see how people go about doing things like this. It is a cool set, but at the same time too many studs (I know, it's LEGO), but still, something seems too rugged with all of those studs. Thanks for sharing.
  21. ^I was about to ask the same thing. I really like the car and plane. I was about to make my own Grand Carousel also, but modding it to fit my needs (obviously getting rid of certain rare/expensive colors/parts), but it was still going to be expensive. I do still have an interest in doing it, but who knows when. Then I looked over and saw my Winter Village carousel and thought that might be enough for me, but since my daughter is getting the Ferris Wheel for her birthday, I figure I should do something of my own for the Carousel. Thanks for sharing. I really like how it looks.
  22. I'm liking what I am seeing so far. I have some high hopes for this theme. I love castle, and I've been more into sci-fi lately, so a mix might be right up my alley. But I'll wait and see.
  23. I like it so far. I think more buildings could use a rear stairwell to beef up the front. However, you'll need an alleyway somewhere to accommodate the back stairwell (the only problem). But I like the larger footprint. I don't own the DO yet (I'll get it for Christmas), but I had considered expanding/separating it also. So I'll have to look at this for some inspiration for sure. I'm interested to see more!
  24. Good posing. Good scene in the movie. It's nice to see it portrayed. However, I never understood why everyone uses blonde hair for Steve Rogers...I realize comics show more blonde hair, but movie version looks more brown. Even dirty blonde would be darker than blonde LEGO hairpiece. I'm just being picky is all.. Good idea. Keep up the good work.
  25. I just typed big bang theory chinese food in google and all of the pictures show them they are using chopsticks. But LEGO has no reason to make a new mold of chopsticks when a fork will work just as well. Plus, they use forks for Thai food, so it's a catch-all I'm sure. (Plus the rule of no new molds in IDEAS sets)
