Classic Smiley for the win! I love the classic smiley. It adds a different appeal to the MOC for sure. The bridge looks interesting, but I wonder why they would set up camp on a bridge.

Incredible. I love it. I've been wanting to build something Elves related for my daughter. I have too many WIPs, but I really want to do this. I love the vegetation. And that waterfall is clever and looks great. I will definitely borrow ideas from you (if you don't mind, credit due of course) because I had considered a waterfall in my scene too. It's always weird looking at a MOC because in pictures it always looks smaller than it really is, until you realize how much detail has to be on a bigger scale. I always run out of 48x48 baseplates to build these things. Keep up the great work. I can't wait to see the Elven village if/when you get to it.

Since everyone is saying buy a second train, I will say get a Fairground Mixer, just to mix it up a bit. I have neither, so I can't help. I'm not much of a train person, so I'd go for Amusement park first. But only because I built a grand carousel MOC recently and it went over well at our LEGO convention.

Incredible. A lot of great details here. I love that the doors open. The individual compartments are great. And how did you get the right hood angle? It looks perfect.

Umm, wow. I am not much of a motorhead, but this is incredible. I love how it all fits together. The vehicle builds are really well done (I'd like to be make better vehicles). I love the interior shop. The hanging lights are cleverly done with the skeleton arms/legs. I hadn't thought of that, but is it fragile? Overall, very well done. I can't pick out my favorite because there are too many interesting details. Good job. thanks for sharing.

How do you imagine Lego works in the Toy Story universe
TheLegoDr replied to Takanuinuva's topic in Community
I hadn't thought about it. But that is very interesting. I like the idea of them working together as a hive mind though. -

Thank you for this. Although things like this make me sad. My nostalgia is too strong, so I long for the days of my youth. Those catalogs were heaven to look at. I had most of the Forestmen sets and pretty much all of the other castle sets from that era. Sadly, no boxes though. That is one issue I have with the new sets/boxes. Especially the big sets with the flip up lid! But if the new boxes would include alternate builds, I would consider holding on to them. Good thing they don't, so I can safely recycle them. But the boxes from my youth I couldn't imagine recycling now as an adult. Thanks to my nostalgia, I've been on a kick of recreating classic sets from my youth and building them bigger/better with new techniques/colors. I did Forestmen River Fortress. I have considered building this one as well. Sometime I'll have to actually get pictures to post them on EB.

[MOC] [WIP] Back To The Future: Hill Valley 1885
TheLegoDr replied to Gerechtigkeitsliga's topic in LEGO Licensed
I can't wait to see more. The picture is great though. What are you using for Marty and Doc's cloth? -
^That they do. Then throw in a few MOC modulars and you really run out of room. I try to only buy one each of the official modulars, then modify them to make my own buildings so they are different from other people. It helps with our LUG shows so not everyone has the same MOC to put on the table and it livens up the city a bit.

Looks great! Very promising. And I second the optometrist idea since I am an optometrist. Clever SNOT build. I've been meaning to do that sometime. It works really well here. I hadn't thought about a magenta type colored building, although I've been wanting to build more Friends style modulars.

I'd like to see more close up shots. I understand the importance of video, but I'm a still life person I guess. The track is very compelling. The one thing I've noticed with any LEGO roller coaster, is how fast it goes around the track, then abruptly stops to get back onto the track pulley. That is the downside, but the rest looks great. Good to see it is possible. Keep up the good work.

The scene is set up really well. Typically I prefer a full LEGO floor also, but this works also. The trees look well done with the snow fall and I really like the fencing. It's simple, but effective. My only change would be have both horses be the same style. I realize there are different types of horse in the world, but I'm more of a consistent type of person. I can't use different molds for some reason. Keep up the good work.

I'm not much of a car builder, so I'm always impressed. But these are especially impressive. The buildings also work really well for a layout. I really like the AC Cobra. I'd love to build my own minifig scale-ish one sometime. I also really like the police cars. They definitely look retro enough. What did you use to light up the police cars? That sounds like fun for a MOC at a LEGO show sometime, so I will want to look into that. Thanks for sharing! -
That figure looks neat. I haven't been following Marvel too much since the Batman movie came out, but I can't wait to see the rest of Thor stuff. I'm nonplussed about Spiderman.

You know you have too much LEGO when you can build this from your collection in a manner of days. Good work!

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 17 Rumors and Discussion
TheLegoDr replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I think all the figures should be a mystery, even on the box art! No one will know what they are buying. It will be brilliant! Brilliant, I say! Actually, I'm always torn on each series, but I end up getting a full set just because. In case I need a utensil or face or print, I have it...but they sit in a box and I never look at them. How do I break myself from having a complete set?? Especially at $4/each, it is hard to swallow. I need help!- 1,421 replies

I like the first floor inset. It reminds me of the Toy and Grocery Shop creator set. Although I wonder how it will look next to another building. It might feel too cramped, but maybe not. I like the idea of the brown boxes out front, but it doesn't fit right for me. I'm not sure what to change though. The drainpipe is an interesting addition. I did something similar to the Kwik-e-Mart for mine using 1x1 round bricks. You could probably make it work somehow without being too bulky. The brownstone from the Pet Shop used regular flex tube like was mentioned earlier, so that is an option too.

This grows on some people, but I am even less interested now. It's too incomplete. I'm sure they did a great job with the source material, but for the price and design, I think I will save money. Which is important this year. Although, once again, I love the figures, but not a fan of the set. That seems to happen with most sets these days. Thanks for the pictures and mini-review. I'll definitely look at it more, but I don't see how my interest will change.

This is really incredible. The spacing of the wooden boards is interesting. How did you do that, if I may ask? The hay is brilliant. Although, isn't there usually a loft they could be hiding out in. I don't think one shovel will take out all of them. Good luck in the contest :).

This is madness! No, it's a LEGO MOC! :) Brilliant movie. The scene is captured well here. I'd like to see some depth to that hole though. Keep up the good work.
-
Thank you. That is actually exactly what I wanted to know.

Do we have to use a zombie figure/head?
-
Looks great! I love the scale and the details. The custom stickers really help sell it, but you don't necessarily need them (especially since not everyone would have them). I like the new curved tile piece for the cart. That works really well. I may have to borrow some ideas here, like many others. Keep up the good work!

General Pirates of the Caribbean Theme Discussion Thread
TheLegoDr replied to Oswald the Rabbit's topic in LEGO Pirates
A leak isn't a reveal... Anyway, I can't wait to see how this turns out. I likely won't be getting it right away, if at all, but I am still curious on how it looks.
